LAURA'S POV

Grandpa Campbell's words cut through the room, hanging in the air like a thick fog suffocating everything around me. Richard was forced to keep quiet.

I gripped my wine glass so tight I thought it might shatter.

Why her?

I was supposed to be the one married to Jason and not her.

Why does she get his grandfather's affection while I get nothing?

He hadn’t even acknowledged me properly since I walked in.

A cold stare, a stiff word questioning who invited me – that’s all I got. But Ava? She could do no wrong.

I needed Grandpa by my side for me to be able to win Jason's heart properly. He was the only issue I had in the family.

But I don't know why he hates me. I haven't done anything wrong in his eyes to deserve his hatred and I couldn't help but blame Ava for that.

After the dinner, Ava sat beside Grandpa, his wrinkled hand resting on her shoulder as he smiled at her like she was his pride and joy.

I took a long sip of my wine, the bitterness on my to

AVA'S POV I had just finished cleaning up when Jason and I followed Grandpa to his study. Jason walked a few steps ahead, his shoulders stiff, while I kept my eyes fixed on the floor. Once we entered inside, Grandpa closed the door firmly and the sound made me flinch. He turned to face us, his expression was hard to read but his eyes held a sharpness that made my stomach twist. “Sit,” he said, pointing to the chairs in front of his desk. Jason and I sat down quietly, side by side. I felt the space between us like a wall. My hands fidgeted in my lap, and I stole a glance at Jason, hoping he’d say something. Anything. Just to break the silence. But he didn’t. He just stared ahead, his jaw clenched tight. Grandpa leaned against the edge of his desk, folding his arms. His gaze settled on Jason, heavy with disappointment. “Jason,” he began, his voice softer than I expected, “do you remember how you used to look at Ava when you two first got married?” Jason’s frown deepened, but he

AVA'S POV The drive home was quiet. Too quiet. So I looked out of the window, watching the streetlights blur past, as my mind raced. I didn’t know what hurt more – the fact that Jason didn’t defend me against Laura, or the sinking fear that maybe I wasn’t enough for him anymore. But Grandpa’s words seemed to have hit him. Maybe that’s why he stayed so silent. When we finally got home, Jason broke the silence. “Ava, please wait.” I stopped at the door and turned around, arms crossed over my chest. “What?” He ran a hand through his hair, frustration on his face. “I’m sorry. For tonight. For not standing up for you. I just… I don’t know what I was thinking.” His voice sounded genuine. And for a second, I saw a flicker of the Jason I married – the one who used to care so much about my feelings. But the hurt he’d caused still lingered. “You... didn’t even hesitate,” I said, my voice cracking. “You just let her lie about me, Jason. You didn’t try to stop her. You just… stared

AVA’S POV Jason had been… different since the dinner at his grandfather’s house. He’d been kinder, more attentive. Small gestures, like making sure I had my coffee exactly how I liked it and asking about my day, had started to reappear. I wasn’t sure how long this was going to last, but it was hard not to notice the effort. It confused me, though. Part of me wanted to believe he was genuinely trying to make things better, but the other part, guarded and hurt kept reminding me of everything I’d been through. Yet, today wasn’t about Jason. It was about me. It was the long-awaited day – the day that had filled my dreams for weeks. The runway would display my designs along with some of the newest jewelry collections from Grey Empire to a global audience. Upon my arrival at the location, the grand hall was bathed in the gentle light of the setting sun. The tall glass doors, sparkling chandeliers, and buzzing anticipation all seemed larger than life. This wasn’t just any event. Thi

AVA’S POVMy jaw dropped, the words taking a moment to sink in. “What?” “The cameras were broken,” Alex clarified, his voice heavy with frustration. “Someone made sure there’s no record. They went out of their way to destroy those dresses.” I leaned against the wall, my head spinning. “Why would someone do this?” I asked, struggling to keep the edge of panic from my voice. Was this a random act, or was someone targeting me? Alex’s hand ran through his hair. “That’s what I’m trying to figure out. However, at this moment, we cannot allow it to disrupt the performance. We must remain concentrated. The security team will look into it later.” I agreed silently, but my stomach felt queasy. Someone had purposely ruined my hard work. It wasn’t only about the dresses – it felt personal. The models stood in a row, graceful and stylish, with the jewelry shining under the bright lights. While observing them, a feeling of pride surged through me. My creations, my designs, were stun

AVA'S POV The room whirled, my heart constricting as Laura’s voice echoed in my mind. She stood there, upright and graceful, with a shining, flawless smile on her face, appearing calm and confident, as if she fully deserved to be there and claim my efforts as her own. How could she? My hands balled into fists at my sides, yet I stayed rooted in place. I couldn’t move. My legs felt as though they were anchored to the ground, my breath caught between shock and anger. The audience erupted into polite applause, oblivious to the weight of the lie Laura had just told. She was smiling, soaking in their attention, her voice dripping with false modesty as she started bragging about her “contribution.” “Thank you so much for your support,” Laura said, her tone syrupy. “These dresses were a result of my vision and dedication. I worked tirelessly to ensure they complemented the jewelry perfectly.” Her words cut through me like shards of glass. I couldn’t believe the audacity. My hard work

AVA'S POV The following morning seemed as if I had awakened in another realm. My mind was still swirling from the events of last night’s chaos, but today marked a fresh start. Jason didn't come back home, he had been busy handling the mess from last night. But one thing joyous about last night was that I was recognized for my designs and Laura was caught up in her lies. The moment I stepped into the office, I felt the tension in the air. Whispers floated along the hallways like mist, and it seemed as if everyone was conversing quietly while a few stared at me. I inhaled deeply, wishing to soothe my anxiety as I approached my desk. The typical buzz of the office was overshadowed by the rumors. The event last night was a disaster, no matter how much Alex and Jason had tried to keep things under wraps. They’d managed to keep everything quiet from the public, but the staff had their own ideas about what had happened. Rumors spread faster than wildfire. “Did you hear abou

LAURA’S POVI felt a burning, twisting pain in my abdomen, but it was nothing compared to the blaze raging in my chest. How could Jason do this to me? Me, of all people? My parents sacrificed their lives for this company, and this was their reward. A humiliating dismissal of their child, with Ava, a lowlife replacing me as Design Director? She not only took Jason from me but now has also claimed my position. I crouched on the chilly tiled floor of my apartment, holding my abdomen. The suffering had transformed from solely emotional to a physical, intense, and ceaseless ache. My eyesight became hazy, and nausea surged in my throat. I required assistance, but the last thing I wished for was anyone's sympathy. Still, I dialed Jason’s number. “Jason,” I choked out when he answered. “I… I think something’s wrong. My stomach hurts...my baby. I need to go to the hospital.” There was a pause, long enough to make my blood boil. “I’ll send the driver,” he said flatly, his tone

  • Goodbye, Ex-Husband, Next Please   CHAPTER 034

AVA’S POV I had just finished my consultation with the doctor, who had assured me that everything was fine with the little one inside me. Jason and I had been too reckless earlier in his office. His kisses and his touch were so familiar, so like the old days, when we couldn’t keep our hands off each other. But things were different now. I wasn’t just responsible for myself anymore. I had to think about the tiny life growing inside me that Jason was still not aware of. I sighed softly, pressing a hand to my stomach. "It’s okay baby. You are perfectly fine." The drive home was a blur, my thoughts spinning like a storm. Meeting Laura at the hospital had deeply unsettled me. I couldn’t shake the weight of her gaze which had lingered long after I walked away, and I couldn’t shake the memory of her sharp, bitter laugh. Was I too obvious? What if she had already begun to suspect the truth?Because I knew she didn't believe the little lie I told about being at the hospital becaus

LAURA'S POVI felt like my skin was on fire. Not from embarrassment but from rage. Ava had done this to me. She had humiliated me in front of Jason, the school director and Mason's teacher. And Jason, my supposed fiancé, let her. The moment I was forced to apologize, he should have stood by my side. He should have taken my hand, reminded everyone that I was his woman, that I carried the Campbell name. Instead? He ran after her, leaving me standing there with Mason, abandoned like trash. My fingers curled into fists as I yanked Mason’s bag from the teacher’s hands, not even looking at her. The woman flinched, but I didn’t care. I spun on my heel and stormed out of that miserable school, Mason scrambling to keep up. Every step I took felt like my insides were boiling. I needed to get out of here before I lost control. But the second I stepped into the parking lot, I froze. Jason hadn’t left. He stood by his car, staring into the distance, completely lost in thought. I sw

  • Goodbye, Ex-Husband, Next Please   CHAPTER 0135

AVA’S POV Laura stood frozen, her lips pressed into a thin, stubborn line. Her nails dug deep into her palms, and she looked truly cornered. Her eyes burned with anger. She didn’t want to do this. She didn’t want to apologize. Her pride was fighting it, screaming at her to argue, to twist the situation in her favor. I could see it in the way her mouth opened, ready to protest. Her chest rose as if she was preparing to unleash a self-righteous argument, to somehow spin this situation in her favor. But before she could, I spoke, my voice calm but cutting. “Or do you only expect children to take responsibility for their actions – while adults like you refuse to?” Her breath hitched. And just like that, the balance of power shifted. Laura stiffened. Her nails dug deeper into her skin, and though she tried to mask it, I could see the slight tremble in her hands, the way her whole body vibrated with restrained fury. She wanted to lash out. I could feel it in the air bet

AVA’S POV The moment the footage started playing, the room went completely silent. I watched intently as the screen flickered, showing the playground from a high angle. The camera quality was clear enough to capture every movement, every detail of what had happened. Mason and Emma stood facing each other, their small figures tense. Mason’s lips moved as he said something – something that made Emma’s tiny hands ball into fists. Then, without warning, Mason raised his hand and slapped her across the face. A sharp intake of breath sounded beside me. How could a little boy be this cruel, raising his hands against a girl? Emma stumbled back, holding her reddened cheek. Before she could react, Mason shoved her with both hands, sending her falling onto the ground. My nails dug into my palms as I watched her small body hit the pavement. The little boy said something else, his lips curling in satisfaction, before stepping closer to Emma. My stomach tightened. He wasn’t done. Mason rais

AVA'S POVA tense silence filled the room after I demanded to see the CCTV footage. I didn’t miss the way Laura’s face briefly paled before she quickly masked her reaction with an indignant scoff. Her arms crossed over her chest, but the stiffness in her posture told me she wasn’t as confident as she wanted to appear. The teacher, clearly uncomfortable, shifted awkwardly before clearing her throat. “Ms. Taylor, I understand your concerns, but the school policy and privacy laws prevent parents from directly accessing surveillance footage. A formal request must be submitted and reviewed by the administration before..." “I want to speak to the school director,” I cut in firmly. The teacher hesitated, her eyes flickered toward Laura for a brief second, as if waiting for some kind of signal. That tiny reaction told me everything I needed to know. Laura had influence here. Whether through intimidation, money, or connections, she had made sure the staff were careful around her. Bef

  • Goodbye, Ex-Husband, Next Please   CHAPTER 0132

AVA'S POV The moment I stepped into the school, I heard a loud, angry voice echoing down the hallway leading to the nurse's office where we were directed to go. My steps slowed as I frowned, the tone oddly familiar. It didn’t take long to recognize it. Laura. A part of me instinctively tensed, the old memories of all the pains I experienced came rushing back before I could stop them. But I forced my expression to remain unreadable as I continued walking. Besides me, Alex must have noticed the sudden tension in my body because he placed a firm yet reassuring hand on my waist. His touch was steady and gentle grounding my spiraling emotions. We reached the door, and as I stepped inside, my breath caught for a second. Laura stood in the middle of the room, hands on her hips, eyes blazing with fury – an angry lioness ready to pounce. But the moment she saw Alex and me, something shifted in her expression. Her gaze flickered between me and Emma as if she didn’t recognize the litt

JASON'S POV Stacks of paperwork covered my desk, demanding my attention. Contracts, approvals, financial reports – I had barely made a dent in them, yet the day was already slipping away. My head throbbed from lack of sleep, but I forced myself to focus. Ben hadn’t gotten back to me yet concerning what I told him to look into. Even Ava has refused to speak with me. I tapped my pen against the desk, staring at the untouched papers in front of me. I found it impossible to concentrate on work. My mind kept circling back to that one question – the one that had haunted me ever since Laura spat out her bitter words. The thought had consumed me, making sleep a distant memory. I exhaled, shaking my head. "Focus Jason." I needed to focus. Just as I reached for a contract, the door to my office burst open. “Jason!” I looked up, frowning as Laura stormed in. Her blonde hair was perfectly styled as always, but her eyes were wild with panic. I clenched my jaw. “What the hell are you

  • Goodbye, Ex-Husband, Next Please   CHAPTER 0130

AVA'S POV Jason didn’t call again. Days had passed since Sally last informed me about his desperate attempts to reach me, but now… nothing. No messages. No calls. Just silence. I should’ve felt relieved, but instead, a part of me remained cautious. Jason wasn’t the type to back down so easily. He had tried calling me endlessly after the Avaris Luxe opening, and then suddenly, he just gave up. Unlikely. I pushed the thought aside as I scrolled through emails, making a mental note of upcoming meetings. Avaris Luxe had only been officially open in America for a short time, and already, things were moving fast. Faster than I expected. Just then, a soft knock sounded at my door. “Come in,” I called, not looking up. The door opened, and Sally walked in, a small smirk on her face as she clutched her tablet. “You’re going to love this,” she said, sliding into the chair across from me. I leaned back, arching a brow. “That depends. What is it?” She tapped a few times on her s

  • Goodbye, Ex-Husband, Next Please   CHAPTER 0129

AVA'S POV After dropping Emma off at school, I wasted no time getting back into the car. The moment I shut the door, I let out a quiet breath, steadying myself. Today was important. My first official day running Avaris Luxe in America. I couldn’t afford to be late, not when I had spent the past three years building myself up for this moment. As the car moved through the streets, I tapped my fingers lightly against my lap. My mind was already racing with everything I had to do meetings, reports, and ensuring everything was running smoothly. But despite all that, a part of me still lingered on what had just happened at Darton School. I hadn’t expected to run into Laura there of all places. But seeing her with that little boy confirmed what I already knew she was still as manipulative as ever. Using her own son to make a statement, to remind me that she still held some power. But she was wrong. I wasn’t the same woman she had once tried to destroy, the same woman she had made

  • Goodbye, Ex-Husband, Next Please   CHAPTER 0128

JASON’S POV Laura’s heels clicked loudly against the marble floor as she stormed out of my office. I could see the hurt on her face, but I felt nothing. Once, I might have cared. Once, I might have tried to explain myself, to soften my words, to make her feel better. But not anymore. I had spent years thinking about her feelings – years that had cost me everything. Even when I was married to Ava, Laura had been a shadow in my life, always there, always pushing her way in. And I had let her. I had been too weak to shut her out completely because of the debt I owed her parents, and it had destroyed my marriage. It had cost me Ava. It had cost me my child. Or at least, that’s what I had believed. I ran a hand through my hair, exhaling slowly. Ava had a daughter. The words played in my head over and over again. Laura had said it so bitterly, so smugly, as if she wanted to rip my heart out. "While you were being loyal to a woman who divorced you and left you, she was busy moving o
