It’s my second day at school. I want to make a scene regardless of Kylo’s threats. Speaking of, the door opened and revealed her who was looking at me from the back.
“Are you ready?” she asked.
“I’ve never been this ready,” I replied as I faced her.
She examined me from head to foot. Her mouth flung open.
“What did you do to me? I look… beautiful,” she said.
“I transformed you into a human being.”
I put on some makeup and lenses. I also got rid of her glasses.
“I don’t know if this is a good thing, but don’t show off too much,” she said.
“You should thank me, kid. If you were my daughter, I would also do the same thing.”
She looks at me for a minute. I feel like she’s tearing up.
“What?” I asked.
“Nothing,” she said and looked away.
“How did you learn how to put on some makeup? Have you been gay?”
“No. I have to learn it for undercover purposes. Impressive, right?”
“Yeah, whatever.”
“Are we done with the interview? I have to go. Bye,” I said and flipped my hair.
The usual thing happened. Their eyes were following me as I walked down the hallway. The students were whispering some gibberish. With my heads up, I passed by them like a model. I entered the room and the same thing happened. They all look at me from head to foot.
“What’s up? You look like you’ve seen a ghost,” I said and smiled.
“You look different, Kylo.”
“Yeah. You’re gorgeous.”
“I’ve always been. I just don’t have the energy to keep myself low,” I said and sat down.
I love this feeling. The feeling I get when people look at me with amazement like I’m no other. Funny how physical beauty can impress teenagers like it’s all that matters in this world. Do you know what matters? The belief in one’s self.
Our teacher entered the room with a pile of papers in her hand. Ms. Mariosa was a living doll. She seems to walk on a red carpet every day with her fashion sense. Miss Mariosa has beauty and a brain. She could be a candidate for my wife. If only we’ve met earlier. She could melt my heart of stone.
“Good morning, Class. Today, I’m going to announce who got the highest score on our long quiz yesterday. In fact, she got the perfect score,” Ms. Mariosa said.
I glanced at the elites. They were smiling from ear to ear. I could hear their annoying whispers.
“It’s always been me. I’m getting bored sometimes,” Rhein whispered.
I like the spirit. She should donate some of it to Kylo, she needs it more than anyone.
“Clap your hands to the person who got the perfect score. Please stand up, Kylo Morris.”
The claps faded when I stood up. Again, my name filled the room with whispers. Most of them were against me. I gaze at Rhein and saw her distorted face. I smiled in satisfaction.
“Excuse me,” Rhein said while raising her hand.
“Yes?”
“Haven’t you heard the rumor? She’s a cheater. I bet she cheated again,” Rhein said and grinned.
“Yes, Ma’am. She can’t possibly get a perfect score. She barely passed tests,” Jasmine said, and they all laughed.
“She could wear some make-up and lenses, but it won’t hide the fact that she’s dumb,” Agatha said, and they laughed louder.
Oh, Agatha dared to speak up after I warned her not to. Well, she left me with the best choice.
“If you firmly believed that I cheated, hand me a proof,” I said.
“We need nothing like that. Your records are enough,” Jasmine said.
“It’s all in the past, Jasmine. I’ve changed for the better,” I replied.
“That’s enough, students. Kylo’s right. It’s all in the past. It’s good that she has improved a lot. Change is constant. Everyone can be better. Kylo, please sit down,” Miss Mariosa said.
Before I could sit down, Rhein spoke again. She can’t keep her mouth shut, can she?
“This is unacceptable, Ma’am,” Rhein said.
“Cut it off, Rhein. Accept it, your reign is over,” I said and smirked.
She rolled her eyes.
“Wow. It’s just a perfect score in one subject, Kylo. Don’t feel too proud,” Rhein said that made everyone laughed.
“Really? Then why are you so threatened? Care to explain?” I replied.
“Gosh, I know it’s hard to live without a father. I understand why you’re acting like this,” she said sarcastically.
“Thank you for your understanding, but I can’t understand you. I’m not an orphan,” I said.
It froze Rhein. Apparently, no one knows that she’s an orphan and her foster parents adopted her.
“What are you talking about?” she asked.
She pretended not to know when her voice was shaking.
“Tell me, what does it feel, Rhein? How does it feel that your biological parents throw you away, your own blood? It feels horrible, right? That’s why when a rich family picked you up, it overwhelmed you. Remember this, Rhein. Your wealth is not yours. You are trash. Well, not exactly because trashes could be useful. But with your attitude, you’re worse than trash,” I said.
A tear escaped from Rhein’s eyes.
“Kylo, that’s enough,” Miss Mariosa said.
I sat down with poise. I gave her what she deserves. Her horns need some cutting.
The discussion went smoothly, like nothing happened. I have to behave, or I might destroy their lives in a matter of seconds. These kids think that they’re above everyone else. Unfortunately, I was too high that they couldn’t see what’s above them.
When the bell rang, our teacher went out of the room. I was about to go out when they locked the door in front of me. I could sense a bad omen.
“What are you up to?” I asked and faced the elites.
“You’re being too much, Kylo,” Jasmine said.
“Me?” I replied and laughed.
“Why are you acting like the victim? Let me remind you. You were bullying me. I was just fighting for my right,” I said.
“Oh, girl. Today, you’re going to lose your rights permanently,” Jasmine said.
“Wait for a second, before you do something unimaginable to me, let me put down my stuff,” I said and left my bag at a corner. I also prepared my phone to record everything.
“Okay, what are you going to do with me?” I asked.
John stepped in front of me and punched me in my stomach. Instead of helping, the students were just staring at me.
“Seriously? Are you even a man? You dare to attack a helpless woman?” I asked.
“I don’t care, Kylo,” he said and kicked me on the stomach again.
I fell on the floor and acted like I’m in pain when I can’t feel much at all.
“Why are you doing this to me?” I asked while crying.
“Why? Because you’re annoying and disobedient,” Jasmine said.
“You acted tough yesterday, but we’re not shaken. Not even a bit,” Agatha added.
“We know you can’t do what you’re threatening us. You can’t fool us. We rule this school, and no one can take us down. So just do what we say,” Rhein said.
“John, kick her ass for one last time,” Agatha ordered.
John raised his right foot and was about to land it on my face when I got a hold of it. A smirk formed on my lips as I grabbed his foot. I twisted it until he ached in pain. I stood up and dragged his feet. His body fell down and his lips kissed the floor. I sat on his back and grabbed his hands and placed it behind his head.
“This is how you catch a criminal,” I said.
I looked at their horrified faces.
“John, this is how the cops caught your father and put him behind bars. Don’t tell me you’re going to follow his steps and become a murderer just because of these brats?” I said.
John was panting. He tried to get away, but his force wasn’t enough. Jasmine took a step towards me.
“Don’t you dare, Jasmine,” I warned.
She stopped. I could feel her nervousness.
“Don’t you know your father ordered the murder?” I said to Jasmine.
“John, senator Suarez ordered your father to kill someone. Your father shut his mouth and took the fall while the senator comes clean. In return, the politician paid for your studies. If your father speaks up, the investigation will continue, but you have to say goodbye to your education,” I said.
Jasmine took a few steps backward. Her mouth flung open and tears flowed down to her cheeks.
“That’s not true. You’re lying,” she whispered.
“Come on, you know it’s possible. Your tears say it all,” I said.
“John, are you going to go under like your father?” I asked.
I diverted my attention to Agatha.
“And to you, Agatha. You haven’t taken my warning seriously. I’ve been very considerate to you and your friends, but you seem not to notice it,” I said.
I stood up and tried to clean the dirt on my uniform. I grabbed my bag and showed my phone to them.
“I recorded everything here. This might teach you a lesson. Do you think you can outsmart me? See you at the principal’s office tomorrow,” I said.
I walked toward the door. Before I could open it, John spoke.
“How did you know everything?” he asked.
I glanced at him for the last time.
“I’ve been dumb for too long. The time has come for me to end your tyranny,” I said and walked out of the room.
As I walked out, it’s as if a tremendous explosion occurred behind me like from one of my missions. How I missed those days when I am licensed to kill and I could blow up everything. At this moment, all I could blow was their mind.
I went to the comfort room to fix my makeup. I realized that I’m too good at being a woman. Well, I’m good at everything. When I’m done, I walked the path beside the basketball court. I stopped and looked at the players for a minute. It brings back memories. Even though they trained us to become agents, they did not deprive us to play sports. In fact, we have a sports fest. Unfortunately, we don’t have cheering squads. If there were, they would’ve been victims of my charms.
A ball interrupted my thoughts. They threw it straight to my head. I don’t know if it was an accident, but if it wasn’t, then the person in charge will taste my wrath.
I picked up the ball and walked towards the players. They all looked at me. What interests me the most was the familiar man beside Rafael, which was Treyton. If I could remember, he was Kylo’s dream guy. I could see that she’s a woman with an inferior quality of taste in men.
“Who did it on purpose?” I asked.
“It was an accident, I’m sorry,” Treyton said.
“Oh? you don’t sound convincing to me,” I said with a bored look on my face.
These guys think they’re cute.
I looked at the ring and positioned my body. I aimed for a three points shot. My accuracy didn’t fail me at all, it never will. My skills surprised them as they looked at me in disbelief.
“Good luck, boys,” I said and forced a smile.
I turned my back on them, but I could still hear them.
“Who is she?”
“Kylo Morris.”
“Is she that good? I never notice her.”
“It was beginner’s luck.”
I stopped when the ball rolled in front of me. I picked it up and faced the ring. That time, I was farther. I could feel their eyes on me, but who cares?
I threw the ball, and it went straight on the spot. Once again, they couldn’t believe their eyes.
“Beginner’s luck, huh?” I said in a confident tone.
Treyton slowly clapped his hands. It surprised him to see a cute girl swoosh the hoops. But I coldly answered his admiration as I left.
“Keep your applause to yourself, I don’t need it.”
Kylo’s Point of ViewI thought Wagner was handling things pretty well, not until I saw him yesterday. He arrived home with a dirty uniform and bruises on his body. Wagner said that he let John beat him to a pulp. He did what I told him.At that moment, I felt guilty. For a second, I thought Wagner doesn’t deserve to suffer like I did. It seems like he inherited my bad luck. I felt sorry that he has to maintain my image.Mom was always busy with work that sometimes I forget that I have a mother. I understand that it’s hard to raise a child alone, so I didn’t plant any hatred for her. I still love her more than anyone else because she’s all I have.Staying at home with nothing to do makes me sick. I can’t figure out how to get our lives back. I have to breathe some fresh air.I went out to the grocery store to look around. My eyes scanned the shelves, and it landed on a napkin. I suddenly rem
It surprised me to see Wagner arrived home wearing a jersey uniform. It looks familiar to me. I sat on the sofa while having a cup of coffee. It reminds me of my stay in Apostria. How I miss that place, especially the food.“What is going on?” I asked while crossing my arms.He put his bag on the couch and stood in front of me. He turned around, showing to me the back of the jersey.“Son of a bitch… Is that Treyton’s jersey? Why are you wearing that?” I almost yelled with my lungs out.“He gave it to me.”“And why would he do that?”“Because I’m cool,” he smirked as he sat on the sofa in front of me.“I don’t believe you. First, he never notices me at school. Second, he wouldn’t just give me a jersey without a reason. Third, he can’t possibly like me. So how on Earth did you do it? I bet you stole it, didn&rsqu
Before we leave the house, I left a letter to Mom, which I pinned on the fridge. I told her we have camping and it will take us a week, while Wagner will stay with a friend that he met at the grocery store. Wagner fabricated a document which states that our school will have a camp and I’m pretty sure that it will convince her.We packed a few things for our one-week stay in Wagner’s house if we’re going to make it alive. His place was farther than I expect it to be. We rode two buses and a cab. It took us 16 hours to arrive a few blocks away from his house. While we’re inside the cab, we wore a black jumpsuit and black facemask to hide our identity. We also used earphones so we could talk with each other when the race begins. The worst part was we were unarmed. I don’t know if his plan will work out, but the least I can do was to believe. I was so nervous that I took tranquilizers to minimize my panic attack.
Wagner’s brows crossed.“What are you talking about? I could see that you haven’t recovered from the incident last night,” he said in dismay. His response tells me he wasn’t ready for another near-death experience.“Maybe,” I replied.“Let’s have some breakfast. I cooked something.”He gleefully led the way out of the master’s bedroom. When I came out of the room, a gigantic chandelier caught my attention. It was hanging at the center of the living room, which was downstairs. It seems like everything was shining. The staircase was modern European style, and the railings were shining with gold. The living room set up was colored gray with minimalist designs from the sofa to the carpet.I walked down the stairs behind him in awe. His place was fancy.“By the way, How about those gunmen? Where are they?” I asked. He walked towards the kitchen.“They’re gone,” he said while setting up the table.
After hearing what Wagner said, my mind became numb. I felt like listening to a theory without supporting evidence. His idea was inconceivable.“You want me to fight you? Are you kidding me?”I forced a laugh.“You want me to test your strength, right? Then it’s the only measurement that I can offer and it’s more precise than any tool in this world.”The tension slowly crawled inside my body.Though my posture, skills, and confidence have improved, I still don’t think that I can beat him.“What’s wrong? I thought I’ve encouraged you enough?” he said.Frustration was evident on his face.I clenched my fists as I looked down in shame.“I don’t think I’m ready to fight you,” I firmly said.“Well, you can’t go for another adventure without fighting me. Anyone can beat you up with the state of mi
Wagner calmly raised his hands while my eyes were shifting from Wagner to the assassin. I could see that his grip on the gun was tight, and he fixed his eyes on Wagner. We didn’t shake him at all.“Vad Wagner, IIF has been looking for you. You need to follow me for an interrogation,” the assassin firmly said.“W-well… drop your weapon first,” I said.“I can’t do that.”“Are you crazy? You almost killed what you’re looking for and you expect us to cooperate?” Wagner interrupted.“We can’t let Wagner escape. He’s wanted. Also, we only need him. You’re not included. We don’t even know you.”Wagner’s face darkened. It might be hard for him to accept that no one recognizes him aside from me.“You don’t know me? Let me show you who I am,” Wagner said and grabbed the gun from the assassin
Vad’s Point of ViewWhen we were sailing using my million dollar yacht, it relieved me. I was glad that we made it alive. The assassins were a bunch of skilled chickens and they outnumbered us. Kylo was severely wounded. To be honest, I didn’t know what to do. All I know was to defend ourselves, no matter what happens. It was fun and games for me, not until I saw her on the floor covered with blood.I thought it was the end. My world stopped, and for the first time, I thought I failed a mission which rarely happens. My knees fell on the floor, trying not to break down. I pulled myself together amidst the smoke brought by the explosion. I did surgery and carefully plucked the bullet out of her body.Fortunately, all the medicines and types of equipment were still intact. It was my last resort to save her life.Kylo was like a book that I could read effortlessly, but she can’t see through me. She can&rs
I wrote confusion on her face.“Let me do my thing. I’m always been good at destroying someone’s integrity. If you know what I mean. While I do my part, observe your surroundings. Keep your stupidity to yourself,” I said before leaving her at the table.I looked at a pirate who was lying on the floor. His eyes were closed, but he was unconsciously smiling from ear to ear, revealing his decaying teeth.I grabbed the cowboy hat on his head and wore it. They already wore it out over the years of their voyage and probably battling against pirate hunters.I scanned my eyes around every corner until I detected a potential target. It was a drunken man who was talking to his friends who were already asleep. The floor screeched as I walked towards him and sat on the empty seat beside him.“That’s a wonderful story, my friend,” I said out of the blue while tapping his shoulder.I
I walked upstairs to meet my class for the last time since I had caught the people behind the abduction of missing students. It was not a complete success because I haven’t taken down their boss, but the abduction would cease to exist in this university. The next thing they’ll do is to lie low and look for an alternative scheme to continue their business. I placed the pile of test papers on my desk and stood in front of them. “As you all know, today is my last day as your professor, because I’m only a substitute. Today, I’m going to let you have the privilege to ask me some personal questions. Take note, not everyone has the chance. What happens in the classroom, stays in the classroom. Got that?” The student nodded as they smiled and gossiped about some gibberish I couldn’t understand. “But before that, I’ll return your test papers. I’m glad you studied well because your scores are great. The highest score in the class is
The police came to the scene and dragged the suspects inside the car with cuffs on their hands. When I went back to Kylo, she was already with Treyton. He hugged her tightly and kissed her forehead. Unfortunately, he wasn’t under my supervision.“Treyton? What took you so long? I can’t believe you left your girlfriend on this dangerous path,” I said in dismay. He bowed down his head with a faint smile.“I’m sorry, Professor,” he said.“It wasn’t his fault. It’s my idea to lure them.”I averted my gaze to Kylo.“What? What made you think of that, Ms. Morris? Something bad would have happened to you if I did not arrive on time. Aren’t you scared?”She looked at me in the eye, and I felt odd.“No, because I know you’ll be on time.”I was about to respond when someone hugged me from the back.&l
Vad’s Point of View“Get one unbroken sheet of paper and answer the following questions on the board. You have 30 seconds to answer each item. You have 25 minutes to answer everything. One glance at your seatmate and you’re going out of this room. You know the rules. Ready or not, the timer starts now.”I crossed my arms while leaning my back against the wall. The students concentrated on their papers, making no noise. They fixed their eyes on the blackboard and on their empty sheets. They’re well aware of how I conduct punishments if they make one wrong move, and it wouldn’t be a splendid memory for them. It’s been three years. If you’re wondering what the great Vad Wagner was doing in a university, it’s simple. They assigned me to do undercover and catch the one who’s responsible for the missing students recently.A sound disturbed everyone’s
Kylo’s Point of viewI watched my Mom slice each of the vegetables with a smile on her face. She took a break from work for the first time. She thought I was dead, and she has regretted the days when she couldn’t give much attention to me. When dad died, she felt like she lost everything when I was always there, trying to comfort her.I cleared my throat for her to look at me. It’s the right time to ask her the most crucial point of my life.“Do you need something?” she asked.“I have a question.”She looked straight into my eyes and stopped what she’s doing.“I just regained my memory recently,” I said.
I never thought the day would come that I’d look for a man suited for my daughter. If I were to decide, I would let no man touch her. But my time as her father was limited. It was the only opportunity I had to test whether Treyton was worthy of her.I packed my things and went to school while Kylo and her mother stayed home. Her Mom applied for a temporary leave so she could bond with me after school. It was also a chance for Kylo to interrogate her Mom and know the truth. The students stared at me as I walked down the corridor. I didn’t have the strength to look good in front of them. They could feel the low energy inside of me as I heard their gossips.“What’s wrong with her?”“She was missing for 3 weeks.”“They thought she’s dead. She’s so creepy.”I paused for a moment and looked at them. My keen eyes pierced through them as I walked closer to the t
The demon’s assumption froze me.“Daughter? That can’t be,” I said.Kylo gazed at me.“Yeah. That can’t be,” she added. She dragged her body to lay her back against the wall.“You just can’t remember it, Vad. Perhaps you had buried that memory as if it was a mistake.”The demon knew something. I think he’s also aware that our body swapped.“What are you talking about?” I asked with knitted brows. The demon chuckled.“Remember those good old days in high school when you escaped from school and went to a bar?”My mind was lagging as I tried to think deeply and looked back to my younger years.I remembered a nostalgic moment. I was with Stinger that time when we plotted a plan on how to escape from the deathly barricades. Outsmarting the Electrical Engineers was like overthrowing the agency itself. After that day, they became more strict, and no one could escape again. We also became famous.
I waited for the pain to penetrate my whole being as I closed my eyes. Dying in front of Kylo was torture. Dying before the eyes of someone who looks up to me and believes that I’m perfect. But unfortunately, perfect people die first before anyone else.“Die!” Vior said in a hushed tone.I heard someone groan close to me. Someone landed on my chest that made me open my eyes in a hurry. It was Sojin. His body fell to the floor as blood flowed from his abdomen. I bent down to look at him closely.“You, fool. Why did you do that? I was ready to die. You ruined the peak of the momentum,” I said.He smiled as blood came out of his mouth.“Because I can sacrifice myself for the one I love.”“Love?”I smirked.“You could have lived for the one you love. What will happen to the one you love if you left her alone?”“It’s alright&h
I gathered all of my strength and pushed Sojin to the ground. He groaned in pain and looked at me with troubled eyes. I flashed a sinister look and clenched my fists.“No one can stop me, not even the deity. Today, blood will spill on my hands. Do not intervene and call for help. Because when you come back, you will bury the bodies of your evil people.”I turned my back on him and entered the basement. As the door slammed behind me, the Animies averted their gaze from me with blood dripping from their mouths. There were four of them. I suddenly remembered what the angel told me.“They crave their own kind.”So this is what he meant by that. I was right. There’s something suspicious about their history. Someone must have fabricated everything
Vad’s Point of ViewI haven’t seen Kylo for 8 hours. My gut tells me they’re in trouble. Before Luxferre raised his head to enter the library, the wall opened, and I saw them. I saw Kylo and Niah hopped in a huge cabinet and it sank under the ground.I don’t know what’s going on. This place has a lot of twists and turns. Sometimes, the walls shake and a path reveals itself.I found Vitton sewing dresses with her bare hands. She’s a blond girl with deep blue eyes. Vitton looks innocent and harmless among others. She glanced at the window of her room where I was peeping and smiled.I opened the door and entered her room. Her shelf was filled with old books, almost worn out. An ancient lamp serves as light as she sews the dresses of
