Third POV
Adrian nodded. “You shouldn't worry about that, you're fine now. The chemical sprayed on you by your sister as reported to me is very dangerous with an eighty-nine percent chance of not making it. I spent nearly thirteen years studying chemicals like this.”
“Don't tell me you flew in from whichever country you were to save me?”
Adrian was a bit confused but he managed to reply to her. “Yes. I did. You know you're such a lovable personality known worldwide. Even when some of you don't love you, there are people who do.” His last statement stuck in her mind, refusing to go away.
“--There are people who do–” She repeated in her mind. “Could he be one of them? Come on, I don't even know him and I'm so impressed by his aura.”
“What's going on?” She thought to herself.
Meanwhile, Adrian was still speaking words of encouragement to her. Upon sensing that she was lost in thought, he tapped her on the shoulder.
“Alright, have some rest. You will be discharged soon. I've got to attend to other duties!” He said and left the room before Estella could even say a word.
Even after he left, she couldn't stop thinking about him and how charming his impression was. “Damn! I need to know who this man is!”
Soon, she fell asleep again.
This time when she woke up, she met a different face. She saw her colleague, the head consultant of the emergency ward standing at the edge of her bedside with three nurses and one pharmacist.
He took a glance at the bed and saw that the patient had gained consciousness, then he rushed to her side, feeling her pulse. “How are you doing, doctor?” Even when she was now his patient, he couldn't stop himself from calling her doctor.
It was as though the voice of the middle-aged doctor brought her back to reality. Her right hand instantly went to her belly. “My babies?” Estella’s voice came out hoarse and her eyes were filled with tears once more.
“Oh!” She sighed as she remembered Adrian's assurance.
“The gynecologist checked you a few minutes ago and she confirmed all four of your babies to be doing fine,” he told her. She breathed deep with relief.
“How about the doctor who treated me?” This was her next concern.
“He's attending to other duties now.”
She kept quiet, pretending that everything was fine but deep within her, her thoughts were on Adrian.
“When will I be discharged or I'm not really fine yet?”
“You're faring well but we still need to keep you here for observations.” The doctor replied to her.
Estella shut her eyes for a while, crying even harder. She had no idea if she could term it tears of joy. She knew her life was a mess right now but she was grateful that her babies were still with her and at least she got one person who flew many miles to save her life even when she didn't know him.
“I really don’t know what this is but I think it’s a miracle because that was a deadly chemical. We've recorded so many death cases from it but you are so lucky to survive it.”
“Thanks to Dr Adrian, he's an expert in this field and he left everything over there to fly in with his one private jet.”
“Huh?” She stuck her head forward with a look of surprise.
A doctor with a private jet?
“I know you must be shocked to hear he has a private jet but he's more than just any ordinary doctor. Right now, I can't say much about him apart from the fact that he owns this prestigious hospital we are working at but just decided to go into the medical field himself being his childhood passion.”
The doctor's words got Estella even more surprised. “You mean my boss came all the way to treat me? Does he know me before now?”
“Estella,” The doctor addressed her for the first time. “I'm sad how you have such a low opinion of yourself. Despite what you see yourself as, you're still the princess.”
Estella nodded, grateful for this piece of encouragement.
“Where’s Cameron?” She asked after her husband, wanting to confirm if he even called to ask how she's doing.
“Your husband?”
“Yes.”
“We haven't heard from him. We even tried contacting him but his line was unavailable.”
“Could it be that he has changed his number?” Estella thought to herself.
“So who brought me here?” She asked.
“They claimed to be Cameron's staff, his servants who said they witnessed when you called for help.”
As if a spell was cast from her head, Estella remembered everything as it happened. She began to sob. The doctor and the nurses gathered to console her.
“I don’t know what exactly you are going through personally but please doctor, I would like for you to be strong and stop crying. If you are not going to be strong for yourself, then please do it for the sake of your babies.”
“I know I said the babies are fine but again I want you to know that the general wellness of your body plays a huge role in the health of your babies.”
“Thanks so much doctor,” Estella said and reached out to her phone. She was still anxious to know if Cameron is really treating her like this.
No calls?
She kept a disappointed face upon seeing none. She took a hard breath, something struck her at this moment. “Could the news of my break up be online?” She asked herself then decided to go online.
The first news she saw struck her.
Wealthiest capitalist, Cameron and royal princess, Riana, comes to public attention after their two year secret marriage.
Royal family hands in their blessings!
Estella dropped to the bed again, closing her eyes. The phone slipped away from her hand, falling to the floor. The doctor and the nurses rushed towards her, panicked. The medical attendant went straight to her phone to check the last thing she saw.
Third POV“I’m really happy tonight.” Riana giggled as she intertwined her hands even more with Cameron’s own as they made their way towards the hall for the dinner gala they organized to make their secret marriage. All of the royal family members got to be in attendance, getting tongues wagging. So many people thought they would be the first to kick against this marriage since Cameron was first married to Estella. The truth was they loved Riana and couldn't kick against whatever she did. Riana was dressed like a queen, accompanied by her man, Cameron. Both looked like the real king and queen, then entered the hall amidst flashes of cameras from the reporters that were invited to cover the event. Cameron's phone had most of his colleagues from the business world sending in congratulations and a happy married life even when some of them were not actually in support of this marriage. They just wanted to maintain good business terms with him seeing how successful he was. “Why aren't
Third POVFinally, the event drew to a close. His heart beat faster, he couldn't wait to arrive at the hospital and check out Estella’s ward. “She must be working there,” he said to himself. Riana accompanied him to the car stand where she hoped to get into the car with him. She waited for him to open the door for her as usual but he stood there glancing to the floor like in deep thought. “I'm sorry but you'll have to call my driver to come take you home. I'm heading somewhere.” “Where? The hospital? To see Estella?” Riana dropped all her questions at once, looking so eager to get responses to them all. “But we're now officially married?” She asked Cameron, grabbing his arms. “I'm gone!” He got into the car, slamming the door against her. He started the car, reversed and zoomed off to the shock of everyone around. Riana turned around seeing everyone gazing at her, she shouted in anger, “Fuck you asshole!” She took to her heels upon gathering her ball gown to get a taxi by the sid
Third POV He kept quiet and turned around walking out of the hospital room. Adrian turned to his crush with a heavy sigh. “Don't you mind him.” He said to Estella. “You deserve much better!” “But why are you showing me so much care? Do you like me?” Estella couldn't keep this till later, she wanted to know Adrian’s intention as soon as possible, starting from why he flew in to save her. It wasn't part of his duty, it wasn't even an obligation but a sole voluntary task on his part. Now she wanted to know the reasons. Adrian twitched his lips, switching his gaze to the bedside table. He lingered for a while before pulling up with a response. “You're the best urologist in my hospital and I have to do everything possible to keep you because I'll need you one day.” His response startled Estella. She blinked her eyes several times in shock. This isn't what she was expecting. “--I'll need you one day–” “What does he mean by this?” A ripple of suspense cascaded over Estella. “I hope t
Third POV “Yes, I am but I want a man who will treasure me during this pregnancy.” She groaned. Chloe frowned at her wish which made her seem quite irrelevant. Being best of friends, she has tried her absolute best to make sure Estella feels special and loved till she found a better husband, yet she was saying this. “I'm honestly not pleased by your statement,” she openly told her. “Am I not trying my best to help you in this condition, at least till you find a husband?” “Yes, you are but I need a man. A man's attention is different!” “Then go find a man then,” Chloe uttered, walking back into the room but Estella sprang up, grabbing her waist. She laughed. “Are you mad at me? I'm so sorry. Just that you don't get what I mean.” “You need a man!” Chloe repeated. “Not like that,” Estella defended herself. “I just want Adrian, he's so charming and I've been thinking of him throughout these three weeks. I can't even have a proper sleep because of him and even when I manage to sleep
Third POV “Could it be Riana using his line to trap me into saying what I'm not supposed to do? She will come right after me and kill me?” Estella’s fear heightened as she was living in the same city with these two, the distance could be covered in a matter of a few minutes. “What happened to your Riana?” She asked to get his response. “She cheated on me with another man and claimed the children to be mine. She just confessed out of anger today when we had a quarrel.” Estella sent a mocking emoji. “Is that how you will run your marriage with the girl you claimed to be the most perfect girl in the world? Just three weeks and you're already into such quarrels, spilling miserable secrets.” She said this to get more information from whoever was messaging her, not as if she got any interest in whatever Cameron was facing. “Hmm.” He replied, dropping a teary eye emoji. “I want you back, I feel so lonely here.” “Did she leave you, oh my God!” Estella attached a clapping emoji, all s
“Why me?” He cried as he took the bush track to his house. He couldn't take the open road for fear of the cops arresting him. They would label it as stalking his ex and suspicious attempts to hurt her. Also, it would be of bad reputation to him as a CEO and public figure. “Why are all these happening to me after I divorced her?” He sobbed as he continued in the bush. His voice was the only thing which could be heard but he wasn't afraid anyway. “Could this be the punishment for divorcing Estella? I'll surely make up with her. The marriage I even had with Riana didn't last, right now I don't know if she will ever return.” He muttered all these to himself as he sobbed both in pain and regret along the bush. Cameron was a cold billionaire, his sobbing meant his condition really hurt him but this wouldn't be any criteria for Estella to accept him. In the morning, she prepared for work. Chloe returned from her night shift at 8 AM to take over the care of the apartment, by then Estella w
The doctor who has the best attitude towards patients and colleagues, most punctual, most diligent, one who's always available for emergencies and responds to work even when on leave or on holiday, and finally one with the highest rate of successful surgeries or treatment. Here in the hospital, all of the doctors’ life and tasks are actually recorded in the personnel database. John realized at once it was his rival, he decided to record her and if by any chance the reward is given to her this time around, he would bring out this record and show it to the boss. “It must be a special reward, which is why he's coming by himself.” He told himself, nodding her head. For previous years, the award is granted by the Managing Director of the Hospital. As he was recording, he turned around and saw a tall, charming man with a boss aura walking in from the glass door entrance a few meters away. He quickly tapped on the record, saving it. “My mind is telling me, that could be the boss.” His hea
“What?” She gasped, covering her mouth with her palms. Adrian flushed, trying to hide his reaction by turning his face away. “Did I just say that to my boss?” She muttered, raising her face at Adrian. “No, it's fine.” He placed his hand on her shoulder. His light, gentle touch on her raised hormones inside of her body that she fell on his chest. It was a voluntary act, her body and hormones did it without her control. Adrian jerked back in shock. “Huh?” He liked this but he was still the boss, he had to keep some distance especially when they didn't have a precise relationship with each other. He couldn't dismiss her so obviously, so he pulled his phone from his pocket and pretended to make a call, slowly Estella pulled herself up, bowing so low. “I'm so sorry, Dr Adrian. It's my hormones, I didn't do it intentionally.” She apologized. Adrian waved his hand pretending to be engrossed with the call. When he took his phone and placed it inside his pocket, he looked at her as if to s
