December 3, 2023. Chapter 1-2. Guys, I'm running late. The next chapter will be after an hour or so. Bear with me.
After that embarrassing experience of exposing herself to Lucas, Lily went to the dining area to join Aiden. Breakfast was already served. Lily thanked the heavens that Lucas showered first before joining them. It allowed her to settle down the shame that was eating her up. When Lucas arrived, Aiden greeted with a bright smile, "Daddy! Good morning!" "Morning, Aiden. How was your sleep?" Lucas asked. "I slept really well." Aiden smiled brightly as he asked, "What about you, Daddy?" Lucas smiled and answered, "Sleep was better today." The three finally had breakfast, and in the middle of their meal, Lucas discussed Aiden's school arrangement, "Aiden will be moved to a school nearby. It's a very exclusive school, and he will always have a bodyguard with him." Lily frowned. She asked, "Who is the bodyguard?" "One of my men," Lucas said. Lily contemplated before she suggested, "Can I bring in someone? I'm sure your men are all great, but I want someone I can trust regarding my
When was the last time Lucas kissed Lily? It had been a very long time. Ten years to be exact. In all that time he was away, he only had Lily in his heart. Having experienced that kiss, even for a moment, made Lucas think back to the past - of how they used to be, and he could not help but want more. "One more time, can I?" He asked. Lily gasped at Lucas' request. Her eyes fluttered, and her mouth fell open, yet no words left her lips. She wasn't moving. She wasn't pushing him away, either. Thus, Lucas said, "Silence means yes." Lucas saw her eyes protesting, but he went for it, giving her no room to decline. He captured her lips and kissed her again. He pulled Lily closer, and his hold behind her neck tightened, allowing him to deepen the kiss. The surroundings blurred into insignificance for him as their lips touched and their flavors exchanged. It conveyed an unspoken emotion that words could never define. Lucas' senses were heightened. He paid attention to the sof
"Since we are talking about this now, why don't we discuss it," Lucas suggested. "You still love Lily all this time?" Shantelle clarified. Lucas hesitated but belatedly admitted, "I never stopped loving her. That will not change." His mother gasped and covered her mouth again. Tears streamed down her face, and she demanded, "Then, tell me? Was she the reason why you disappeared? What did you do? Was it related to her problems then?" "Did you really?" Shantelle repeated. This time, her voice sounded firm. "Do you blame her?" Instead of answering directly, Lucas asked. As he spoke, he tried his best to be calm. "It wasn't Lily's fault, Mom. Nobody knew what she got into. Please don't hate her, Mom -" "I don't hate her," Shantelle said before gritting her teeth. "But my gut feeling says you left to deal with her problems, and what I can't accept is the fact that I lost my son for ten years!" "Why did she have to choose to be in the military? She could have just been a businesswo
### LUCAS FLASHBACK ### "Doc, stay here, but be ready in case any of us comes back and needs medical attention," Axel, the corporal leading a retrieval mission, said. Lucas nodded. He looked around and held tightly to his medical bag, saying, "Got it. Be safe, Axel." Axel and Lucas were the same age and got along well since he joined the Alpha Vipers. This was their second time together on a mission and Lucas' first few months on the job as a medic. They were in Thailand in a rescue operation because three US civilians were kidnapped and brought to the mountains. However, instead of paying the ransom, the US government decided to hire Alpha Vipers to save the kidnapped victims. Why? This was because the rebel group who took the civilians was known to break the agreement. While Axel and his team invaded the territory of the kidnappers, Lucas waited with two other private military contractors, who were assigned to be on watch. In a few minutes, gunshots and screams were heard
"You see, Lucas. Evan told me that you are hiring externally for your accounting audits, and I figured, why not hire Shauna? Shauna is a great accountant!" Sean Ross said. "You see, I was planning to have Shauna work for me at Gravity Ventures -" "Then, why don't you, Uncle? I think it's great that Shauna helped you with the business," Lucas suggested. He did not hide the sudden irritation in his voice. "you are not getting any younger. You should find a successor." "And that will happen, Lucas," Sean said. "It's in the pipeline, but currently, all positions are filled. Gravity Ventures CFO, however, will be retiring in three months." Sean looked at Shauna briefly, saying, "Moreover, my daughter has been working abroad so long that she needs to brush up on local government taxes and other requirements. She can learn best here at the main company, where she can be exposed to more complex books of accounts." "Look." Sean leaned closer to the table. He said, "All I am asking is three
A few days had passed. So far, Lily has endured sleeping without Lucas beside her, partly because the man was so busy. He was either working in the study until two or three in the morning or sleeping in his office lounge. Lucas had explained to her and Aiden that he was chasing a deadline. It did not mean, however, that Lily was resting well. She had formed bags under her eyes, and she would not have had any rest last night if not for her decision to stay in Aiden's room. Whenever Lucas worked late at the office, Lily offered to remain with him for protection, but the man insisted it could be done once Gunner arrived. He said, "Aiden is more important. I am safe here in the office." It took longer for Gunner to relocate because the soldier visited his parents before flying to Rose Hills. Gunner understood his new assignment was meant for long term. After putting Aiden to sleep, Lily went to the villa's security room. Lucas had set up five computer screens, two LED screens, a
Lucas grabbed her arm and tried to guide her out the door, but Lily swung her elbow, forcing the man to let go. "Lily, please," Lucas said. His jaws were clenched, and brows were meeting. "I don't want you to see -" "It's too late!" Lily yelled. Her body trembled, thinking back to what she had seen. "What happened?" Lily asked. She gritted her teeth, and her hands balled into fists. Lily felt her eyes had turned into a waterfall that it just would not stop flowing! She asked, "Who did that to you, Lucas? Who?" Lucas immediately tried to wipe the uncontrollable tears that soaked her face. He said, "Lily, stop -" "No! How do you expect me to turn a blind eye to what I have seen? Lucas! Tell me who did that to you, and I will hunt them down!" Lily declared. "Ahh!" Lucas grunted. He ran his finger through his hair as he took a full turn. "I did not want you to see this early on -" "Well, what did you expect, Lucas? With us living together, it was bound to happen!" Lily pointed
'Does it mean we can do it?' The question took Lily aback. She gulped and turned to Lucas, wide-eyed. She answered, "Um." There was an awkward silence before she replied, "I don't know. I'm not ready." Lucas hugged her tighter from behind. He said, "I'm sorry. Of course. It's been a while. I should give you time." He breathed into the back of her neck, making Lily feel goosebumps, especially since she knew he was shirtless beneath the blanket. Lucas softly added, "I will wait." "Thank you," Lily responded. She focused her gaze on the other side of the room, thinking. Then, Lily explained her primary concern. She expressed, "Then, you know, we are in a serious situation, and the last thing I need is for me to get pregnant. If I am, I can't run after you or fight your enemies." "Right," Lucas softly answered. "I'll get on contraceptives first," she concluded. "Oh, okay," Lucas acknowledged. There was a hint of happiness in Lucas' tone that she could not ignore. He pulled her t
Hi Readers, I did not realize until last week that some of you were trying to access The CEO's Ex-Wife Is A Famous Doctor. To those who were wondering, there is a new version of the book with a few chapters of Lucas' story attached. If you are trying to re-read your unlocked chapters, kindly search for the old version in your library. Another option is to go to your profile in the app, go to your wallet, and then check "episodes unlocked." If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, you can find me on social. It's the best way to make an inquiry because I don't get notifications for reviews or comments. Sincerely, LiLhyz
Dear Beloved Readers, Thank you for supporting me with Lucas and Lily's story. I also appreciate the care and patience you have shown me over the past two weeks. I have a few announcements. So, here it goes. Author's Health. After what happened to my eyes, I realized that I must give time for myself. And it is not just my eyes; I have gained weight. Lol. I blamed it on the holidays, but it's already March. In line with this, I will take it a little slow in my next book, enough for my eyes to rest so they won't get strained from all the screen time. I know you are all used to me delivering two chapters daily on most days, but in the next book, I will probably publish an average of nine to ten chapters per week. I need this badly, so I am asking for your understanding. Note that you can always read at the end of the week or after the book is completed. What book will I publish next? I know you love the Wrights and the Thompsons, but I have been advised to write outside the s
Four years passed. ~"You might have a mom, she might be the bombBut ain't nobody got a mom like mineHer love's 'til the end, she's my best friendAin't nobody got a mom like mine" ~ Dancing to the tune of "Mom" by Meghan Trainor, the children danced in simple steps to appreciate their mommies on Mother's Day. This was a gathering that Amara had organized for the mothers in their family and close friends. The seven-year-olds, Autumn and Maeve, and the four-year-old Ivaan were forming hearts with their fingers, and together with Shauna's and Anna's daughters, they found partners to sway along to the music. Shauna's daughter, Mareese, was nearly seven, while her son, Shawn, was three. While Mareese had Shauna's looks, Shawn was a definite copy of his dad. Shawn was less coordinated with the other kids dancing, and that was because he thought dancing was only for girls. Still, Shauna appreciated her son's efforts. Anna's daughter was dancing with the group too. Ryan and Anna nam
Over three months passed. "Ready for our first round?" Aiden asked with narrowed eyes. "Ready!" Autumn and Maeve said at the same time. His sisters were in the playroom with him, smiling from ear to ear. Earlier, Autumn and Maeve were unhappy because they missed Lucas and Lily. Their mother had been confined for four days since she had another C-section to deliver their baby brother. To cheer them up, Aiden went the extra mile and created a fun activity for them on a Friday afternoon. Together with the caregivers, Aiden cut out large and various shapes in different colors. The mechanics of the game was simple. Aiden would dictate the shape and color, and they would step on it. The highest number of correct answers would be awarded a prize. "Blue star!" Aiden said, and his sisters scrambled to find a blue star and step on it. "Next, an orange circle!" Aiden added. "Green square! Red triangle!" They did not necessarily get all of them. Like how Autumn thought orange was re
Six months passed. Ryan and Anna's wedding was held at The Green Pine Restaurant and Lodge. Around the venue, candles flickered, and soft fabrics moved in the mountain wind, making everything feel magical. The wedding happened under the moonlit sky, and the hills stood in the background, watching as two people joined their lives together. As the celebration extended, the couple had a romantic dance at the end, swaying to the tune of "Lover" by Taylor Swift. Ryan wore a black suit, while Anna wore a mermaid wedding dress. ~ "Can I go where you go?Can we always be this close forever and ever? And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)You're my, my, my, myLover?" ~ Ryan had a big smile on his face, his eyes glued to his now wife while Anna looked at her husband adoringly, her hands wrapped around his neck. Anna's eyes were gleaming, her red hair adorned with gems tied into a beautiful bun behind her head. Halfway through the song, Anna and Ryan looked around. An
Over one year passed. "Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, and nature enthusiasts," Axel said while addressing everyone in the crowd. He was standing before a podium and on a makeshift stage. Surrounding him stretched a vast expanse of land adorned with lush green grass, while the venue for the press conference was sheltered by the shade of trees and pines. "A warm welcome to all of you on this glorious day as we gather to celebrate the grand opening of The Green Pine Restaurant and Lodge." Axel smiled as he stared into the eyes of those watching him. He resumed, "Today is a testament to the harmonious blend of nature, hospitality, and my family's love for farming." "This farm resort is a dream realized - a way for us to bring you the countryside and do what we love to do as a family. We, the Greens, love to farm," Axel proudly announced. "Just an hour away from the Rose Hills proper, you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the beauty of
"My feet are killing me," Anna complained after she, Lily, and Shauna went shopping for clothes for the past four hours on a Saturday afternoon. Shauna bought maternity clothes, while Lily and Anna bought clothes for themselves. They all rested on one of the benches inside the mall. Anna and Shauna took both ends of the bench while Lily sat in the middle. Once settled, Lily asked, "Is the baby coming out yet?" The idea of going to the mall was Shauna's. She was already forty weeks pregnant, but she had no signs of going into labor. She thought that strolling around would help. Shauna rested her shopping bags on the floor. She touched her belly and said, "No, I don't feel anything." Suddenly, Anna screamed, "Ouch! Luke! What the -" "Anna, come back with me!" Out of nowhere, Luke appeared, and he grabbed Anna's wrist. Luke did not appear well. His hair was disheveled, and he had dark bags under his eyes. He begged, "Anna, please forgive me." "Luke, what are you doing? Didn't R
### MARCUS' FLASHBACK ### "Hey, Guys! Can I join you?" Kamila said while taking the vacant seat next to Lace. "Looks like our parents have made a huddle of their own." "Of course. They always do that," Lace replied. "We should have a gathering of our own." "I'll go to join Samuel and the others," Amara said, referring to their uncle Sean's second son. "Go," Marcus said. It was always like this during gatherings; they split into different groups. "Let's drink," Kamila proposed with a mischievous smile. Marcus laughed. He looked back, searching for Keith, and when he found Kamila's father having a drink with Evan and their other uncles, he said, "So, that's why you came here." "Yeah, good luck getting a drink when I am near Dad," Kamila remarked, and she laughed. "He does let me drink, but not too much." "I think not too much is okay," Marcus commented, but either way, he asked a food server for another bottle of wine. He winked at Kamila and assured her, "Don't worry, I'll
Louise was celebrating inside. Finally, for the first time, Keith Henderson would see that Kamila wasn't the perfect daughter he had assumed her to be. Since the Hendersons had granted her a scholarship, Louise had seen how easy Kamila's life had always been. She realized that life was so unfair. Here was Kamila, tall and beautiful with long and shiny black hair. She was often the center of attention during their college years, leaving Louise in the backseat. In the past, Louise earnestly appreciated Kamila, but the more she was exposed to how the Hendersons lived, the more she coveted Kamila's life. Louise would have had a chance to live that luxury if only she had been chosen for the management trainee position for Prima MedCare. The problem was that Kamila was in the way of her dreams. It was obvious that Keith Henderson, being the CEO of the insurance company, would prefer to bring in his daughter rather than an outsider. Knowing this, Louise had been trying to find a way t
