November 25, 2023. Chapter 1-2.
Lucas was blown away. He chuckled at the boy's request and approached him. He asked, "What? You want me to marry your mom?" "I'm serious, Mister!" Aiden said. "I think you'll be a better husband for my mom!" "You fight well. When you and Mommy were fighting earlier, it was like a synchronized dance, like you knew her well enough to predict her moves!" Aiden complimented. "Plus, you are smart and -" Aiden's grin grew wider as he described, "You are half as handsome as I am, so you'll do." Lucas, "..." "Half as handsome?" Lucas clarified. He was about ready to burst into laughter at his son's suggestion. He mused, 'Couldn't he see that we looked very much alike?' "Yeah," Aiden said. "Jake thought he was more handsome than me. Are you going to be the same? Choose your reply wisely, Mister." Lucas, "..." "You certainly are... more handsome than me," Lucas confirmed. Tears welled in his eyes, but he chuckled, thoroughly amused. He was amazed by his son's character. "You - you hav
"Now, how about marrying my mommy this time?" Lucas did not know whether to laugh or cry at his son's actions. 'Did he just handcuff me?' His son was sure possessive! Aiden did not need to cuff him. Lucas meant to stay for good. However, Lucas would do anything to give his son assurance. Finally, Lucas chuckled and replied, "Fine by me. It makes me happier that you will stay by my side." "Good," Aiden answered. "But, to make all those claims legal, you must marry my Mommy. Words don't mean a thing." Another laugh escaped Lucas' lips. He gasped and said, "Aiden, can you keep a secret? Because your uncles cannot know of this for now. They are still mad at me." Aiden contemplated and then nodded. He answered, "Yeah. I can keep a secret." "What if I told you that I already married your mommy," Lucas revealed. "What?" Aiden asked, utterly bemused. "Your mom and I got legally married two days ago," Lucas admitted. Silence fell upon them. Aiden's eyes panned from left to right
Lily entered Aiden's room, holding a key to the handcuffs. She slowly walked over to Lucas' side and was about to insert the key, but the man grabbed her wrist violently. "Lucas," she said, nearly raising her voice. "Let go of me." She saw Lucas' lethal gaze as if he were ready to attack. Thankfully, his expression turned gentle upon recognizing her. He said, "Lily, don't startle me like that. I - I -" "What?" Lily asked. "Why were you reacting that way?" "Sorry, I - it's a long story," Lucas said, making Lily frown. "I guess I have to allocate one month for that very long story to come out," Lily muttered before unlocking the handcuffs. She glanced at her son, and seeing how Aiden held Lucas tightly made her almost want to cry. Earlier, Aiden insisted that Lucas sleep in his room. He would not tell anyone where he hid the keys to the handcuffs. It was evident to Lily that her son was afraid of losing his father. Fortunately, Lily found the key under the dresser in her pare
"I want to start by saying I did not expect it to be this big," Lucas said. He leaned closer and stared into Lily's eyes. "Okay," Lily said. She sucked in a deep breath and braced herself. "Spill." She watched as Lucas gulped air down his throat. His adams apple bobbed. He purposely ran his fingers through his hair and disheveled it. He took off his coat and began to fold up his sleeves. Everything about him now made him look dangerously and ruggedly handsome. If this was Lucas' way of trying to stall things, it probably worked just a bit. However, Lily was determined to get some facts out. Lucas slumped in his seat and heaved a sigh. Then, he slowly began to explain, "What I am about to tell you is confidential. These are cases that are still pending in court or are still under investigation. Lily, I trust you enough not to say a word to others. What I tell you must stay only in this room." "And to set the record straight, I can't tell you everything. You have to understand t
Lily's eyes rounded. She felt like she was transported to another place, perhaps a mountain resort, because the room's interior was very nature-like! It was precisely how she would have loved her room to be if she had bought her own house. The room Lucas assigned to her was massive. She thought it was even bigger than Lucas' room. She had a gigantic glass window with access to a small, enclosed garden. Her private space was painted in earthly colors, which was very much to Lily's liking. Lily took a big whiff of her room and could not help but smile at the scent of orange zest from the humidifier. She tried to hold it back, but her true feelings betrayed her. She muttered, "Dammit! Lucas really knows me. When did he have this room customized? We have only been married for three days!" There were indoor plants, rosewood furniture, a large portrait of her younger self on the wall, and a few mounted pictures of her and Lucas in the years before he left. Lily walked up to one picture
Because Lucas had many things to do at the company, they all first drove to the Thompson Group of Companies to drop him off. Lily, Aiden, and Lucas were all in the car's backseat. The two bodyguards were in the front seat, waiting for Lucas to leave the vehicle. Upon their arrival, Aiden's eyes grew wide. If he could peek his head through the car's window, he would. Aiden remarked, "That's a really tall building. It reminds me of my uncle's office." Lily understood her son was referring to their family's main business. The Wright family had a mother company, The Wright Diamond Corporation. However, the hotel side of the business grew too big to handle, and management was divided. Now, Lily's older brother, Liam, was running the hotel while her cousin ran the umbrella corporation. The Thompsons used to own shares of their company, and Lily's family used to have shares with the Thompson Group of Companies, but that changed when Lucas disappeared. "Do you like it, Aiden?" Lucas ask
"Congratulations, Mister Wright, you may go home tomorrow," Lucas said with a smile. Another two days passed, and finally, Kaleb Wright received his discharge order. Lily and Aiden stayed in the center during the day and went home to Lucas's villa at night. So far, each night has been spent with a gracious dinner, and Aiden has bonded with Lucas. "Glad I'm going home, but I'm not really going home yet," Kaleb said with a hint of sarcasm. A growl rumbled in Lily's throat, cautioning her father. Their set-up in Rose Hills was supposed to be kept private. Major Patton needed time to ensure the Wrights' security, so Kaleb and Scarlett were asked to stay longer in Rose Hills. Lucas cleared his throat and said, "Just a little reminder. Walking and stretching is fine, but no strenuous exercises yet, especially ones that excite the heart." Kaleb and Scarlett were baffled. Because of their reaction, Lucas clarified, "No exercises that involve cuffs, chains, and black feathers." "What?!
Doctor Wilma Brown was an ambitious woman. She aspired to be the best back in medical school. She was granted the opportunity to train with the famous Doctor Shantelle Scott-Thompson, Lucas's mother. Before her retirement, Doctor Shantelle Scott-Thompson used to be a famous thoracic surgeon across the country. Every cardio and thoracic surgeon wanted to learn from her. Wilma Brown was three years younger than Lucas, and while in medical school, she had always heard that Lucas was an excellent student. Doctors and professors often talked about him and used him as an example to set the bar higher. "We had one student a few years back who dissected a human body in less than an hour. His name is Lucas Thompson. Beat his time record, and you can get an A." "We still haven't found anyone as capable as Lucas Thompson." "Lucas Thompson could point out thoracic organs with his eyes closed." "Lucas Thompson is probably the best medical scholar Rose Hills has ever had." Even when Doctor
Hi Readers, I did not realize until last week that some of you were trying to access The CEO's Ex-Wife Is A Famous Doctor. To those who were wondering, there is a new version of the book with a few chapters of Lucas' story attached. If you are trying to re-read your unlocked chapters, kindly search for the old version in your library. Another option is to go to your profile in the app, go to your wallet, and then check "episodes unlocked." If you have any questions, concerns, or suggestions, you can find me on social. It's the best way to make an inquiry because I don't get notifications for reviews or comments. Sincerely, LiLhyz
Dear Beloved Readers, Thank you for supporting me with Lucas and Lily's story. I also appreciate the care and patience you have shown me over the past two weeks. I have a few announcements. So, here it goes. Author's Health. After what happened to my eyes, I realized that I must give time for myself. And it is not just my eyes; I have gained weight. Lol. I blamed it on the holidays, but it's already March. In line with this, I will take it a little slow in my next book, enough for my eyes to rest so they won't get strained from all the screen time. I know you are all used to me delivering two chapters daily on most days, but in the next book, I will probably publish an average of nine to ten chapters per week. I need this badly, so I am asking for your understanding. Note that you can always read at the end of the week or after the book is completed. What book will I publish next? I know you love the Wrights and the Thompsons, but I have been advised to write outside the s
Four years passed. ~"You might have a mom, she might be the bombBut ain't nobody got a mom like mineHer love's 'til the end, she's my best friendAin't nobody got a mom like mine" ~ Dancing to the tune of "Mom" by Meghan Trainor, the children danced in simple steps to appreciate their mommies on Mother's Day. This was a gathering that Amara had organized for the mothers in their family and close friends. The seven-year-olds, Autumn and Maeve, and the four-year-old Ivaan were forming hearts with their fingers, and together with Shauna's and Anna's daughters, they found partners to sway along to the music. Shauna's daughter, Mareese, was nearly seven, while her son, Shawn, was three. While Mareese had Shauna's looks, Shawn was a definite copy of his dad. Shawn was less coordinated with the other kids dancing, and that was because he thought dancing was only for girls. Still, Shauna appreciated her son's efforts. Anna's daughter was dancing with the group too. Ryan and Anna nam
Over three months passed. "Ready for our first round?" Aiden asked with narrowed eyes. "Ready!" Autumn and Maeve said at the same time. His sisters were in the playroom with him, smiling from ear to ear. Earlier, Autumn and Maeve were unhappy because they missed Lucas and Lily. Their mother had been confined for four days since she had another C-section to deliver their baby brother. To cheer them up, Aiden went the extra mile and created a fun activity for them on a Friday afternoon. Together with the caregivers, Aiden cut out large and various shapes in different colors. The mechanics of the game was simple. Aiden would dictate the shape and color, and they would step on it. The highest number of correct answers would be awarded a prize. "Blue star!" Aiden said, and his sisters scrambled to find a blue star and step on it. "Next, an orange circle!" Aiden added. "Green square! Red triangle!" They did not necessarily get all of them. Like how Autumn thought orange was re
Six months passed. Ryan and Anna's wedding was held at The Green Pine Restaurant and Lodge. Around the venue, candles flickered, and soft fabrics moved in the mountain wind, making everything feel magical. The wedding happened under the moonlit sky, and the hills stood in the background, watching as two people joined their lives together. As the celebration extended, the couple had a romantic dance at the end, swaying to the tune of "Lover" by Taylor Swift. Ryan wore a black suit, while Anna wore a mermaid wedding dress. ~ "Can I go where you go?Can we always be this close forever and ever? And ah, take me out, and take me home (forever and ever)You're my, my, my, myLover?" ~ Ryan had a big smile on his face, his eyes glued to his now wife while Anna looked at her husband adoringly, her hands wrapped around his neck. Anna's eyes were gleaming, her red hair adorned with gems tied into a beautiful bun behind her head. Halfway through the song, Anna and Ryan looked around. An
Over one year passed. "Ladies and gentlemen, distinguished guests, and nature enthusiasts," Axel said while addressing everyone in the crowd. He was standing before a podium and on a makeshift stage. Surrounding him stretched a vast expanse of land adorned with lush green grass, while the venue for the press conference was sheltered by the shade of trees and pines. "A warm welcome to all of you on this glorious day as we gather to celebrate the grand opening of The Green Pine Restaurant and Lodge." Axel smiled as he stared into the eyes of those watching him. He resumed, "Today is a testament to the harmonious blend of nature, hospitality, and my family's love for farming." "This farm resort is a dream realized - a way for us to bring you the countryside and do what we love to do as a family. We, the Greens, love to farm," Axel proudly announced. "Just an hour away from the Rose Hills proper, you can escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse yourself in the beauty of
"My feet are killing me," Anna complained after she, Lily, and Shauna went shopping for clothes for the past four hours on a Saturday afternoon. Shauna bought maternity clothes, while Lily and Anna bought clothes for themselves. They all rested on one of the benches inside the mall. Anna and Shauna took both ends of the bench while Lily sat in the middle. Once settled, Lily asked, "Is the baby coming out yet?" The idea of going to the mall was Shauna's. She was already forty weeks pregnant, but she had no signs of going into labor. She thought that strolling around would help. Shauna rested her shopping bags on the floor. She touched her belly and said, "No, I don't feel anything." Suddenly, Anna screamed, "Ouch! Luke! What the -" "Anna, come back with me!" Out of nowhere, Luke appeared, and he grabbed Anna's wrist. Luke did not appear well. His hair was disheveled, and he had dark bags under his eyes. He begged, "Anna, please forgive me." "Luke, what are you doing? Didn't R
### MARCUS' FLASHBACK ### "Hey, Guys! Can I join you?" Kamila said while taking the vacant seat next to Lace. "Looks like our parents have made a huddle of their own." "Of course. They always do that," Lace replied. "We should have a gathering of our own." "I'll go to join Samuel and the others," Amara said, referring to their uncle Sean's second son. "Go," Marcus said. It was always like this during gatherings; they split into different groups. "Let's drink," Kamila proposed with a mischievous smile. Marcus laughed. He looked back, searching for Keith, and when he found Kamila's father having a drink with Evan and their other uncles, he said, "So, that's why you came here." "Yeah, good luck getting a drink when I am near Dad," Kamila remarked, and she laughed. "He does let me drink, but not too much." "I think not too much is okay," Marcus commented, but either way, he asked a food server for another bottle of wine. He winked at Kamila and assured her, "Don't worry, I'll
Louise was celebrating inside. Finally, for the first time, Keith Henderson would see that Kamila wasn't the perfect daughter he had assumed her to be. Since the Hendersons had granted her a scholarship, Louise had seen how easy Kamila's life had always been. She realized that life was so unfair. Here was Kamila, tall and beautiful with long and shiny black hair. She was often the center of attention during their college years, leaving Louise in the backseat. In the past, Louise earnestly appreciated Kamila, but the more she was exposed to how the Hendersons lived, the more she coveted Kamila's life. Louise would have had a chance to live that luxury if only she had been chosen for the management trainee position for Prima MedCare. The problem was that Kamila was in the way of her dreams. It was obvious that Keith Henderson, being the CEO of the insurance company, would prefer to bring in his daughter rather than an outsider. Knowing this, Louise had been trying to find a way t
