Chapter Three

I couldn't sit still. I was restless. "Something's wrong. Someone close to me is hurt."

Kanna ran in, panting and a little bloody. "Mom!!"

"Kanna?!" I whirled around. "What happened?!"

"Damien! He's snapped!! He went after Blaise!!"

"What?!" I sighed. "Damn my intuition. Find your father." I started pacing as she left. "What the fuck is going on?!"

"Mother."

I turned to see Damien staring at me. "Damien, why did you do it?!"

"Fun challenge."

Salax growled. I held a hand to him to keep him back. "No, this isn't you!"

"What would you know! That filthy snake is why our family is broken! Blaise is the result of it. Can't touch the snake so Blaise was the next best thing."

Kanna ran back in, Kira riding on Erys' head. "Got him! I told him what happened."

"Damien, you aren't like this." Erys frowned.

"He's changed," I frowned.

"Like you care, bitch. You're just a cheap whore." Damien spat.

"Damien!" Erys growled. 

I backed up. Had he really just said that? Salax put his arm around me. 

"That's our mother, asshole!"

Damien scoffed. "She's your mother, not mine."

I fell to my knees, tears in my eyes. "But I…" I covered my mouth. Kanna sat beside me, giving me a hug.

"Insolent child, I'd hold your tongue if I were you," Salax hissed.

"Damien, she is your mother no matter what.  Though we may not be together, we are still a family." Erys crossed his arms, glaring at Damien.

"Can't you be happy for her?" Kira asked.

"Even though we split, she'll always care and be here for you. If it weren't for her, you wouldn't even have been born," Erys looked to me, seeing me in tears.

Damien snapped at Kira. "Shut up rabbit. You probably know how much he's hurting, with how much you've clung to him lately."

"Leave her out of this, Damien!"

"Why should I listen to a whore?" He looked to Salax. "It's not like he listened when you told him to keep his hands off of you. And you could have avoided him. But no, you didn't. So, you're a cheap slut and not my mother!"

I could feel myself breaking with everything he said to me. "Don't touch Damien…" I kept holding Sal back.

"It's your fault, too, Snake! You could have left her alone! She's your sister! That's fucking disgusting! And that's what you did, something disgusting!"

"Shut your mouth!" Sal hissed, getting increasingly pissed off.

"So, he did have his hands on you before…that. I thought maybe you'd fought with him and that's why his smell was on you… Maybe she is a whore," I heard Erys whisper. "You didn't tell Len or have him punished… Instead you decided to love him and have a kid with him…"

"Not you, too…" I looked away.  I started shaking, unable to see clearly anymore. 

"Watch your tongue, Erys."

"No, Damien has his reason for the way he is. I see this. Though I wish he wasn't like it, he's being truthful in his words, " Erys rolled his eyes. 

"Don't gang up on her!" Kira frowned. She stood by me. At least Kanna and Kira believed in me. 

"She is a whore!" 

Damien yelped as Kanna stood and smacked him. "She's our mother!"

"She's no mother of mine!"

Erys looked at me, no emotion whatsoever in his eyes. "I trusted and had faith in you that you wouldn't do anything but I was wrong. You're just like every other whore I've known."

I couldn't take anymore. I don't know what happened but everything just went black. I couldn't talk or physically feel anything. I could still see and hear, though. I saw Kanna run to me, or rather my body on the floor. My horns had snapped off when I hit the floor. Had I just died of heartbreak?

"MOM!!" Kanna was in tears. Damien seemed in shock. "Look what you guys have done!!"

"I didn't do anything! She did!" Erys shouted.

"Shut up, Erys!" Sal hissed.

"BOTH OF YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP NOW!!! I can't feel a heartbeat…" Kanna was trembling.

"Oh shit…" Erys sighed.

"This is your fault!"

Erys and Sal kept arguing until a weak Crystalis manifested and screamed. "CLAUSIT INFERNUM USQUE VOS AMENTIBUS!!!" Utter silence. "LENNY!!!"

In seconds Len was there, panting and looking rather furious. He threw both demons to different walls. "Should either of you touch one another and you'll both suffer!! What happened?!"

Kira frowned. "Well, Damien went stupid, attacked Blaise, kept calling his mom a whore, eventually this idiot here," she motioned to Erys, "agreed and she just fell to the floor."

"There's no pulse. Is it possible to die of heartbreak?" Kanna was holding my body close. "Mom, please don't be dead. I'm so sorry for all of this, just please come back!! I don't care who you're with, I just want you back!"

My poor, sweet daughter. I wanted to hold her so badly and tell her I wasn't gone. But I wasn't sure if I was gone or not. I looked to Damien, who was crying. Hm, seemed he did care about me after all. Salax was in tears. Erys was staring blankly, in shock.

"Len, the pain…It hurts…" Crystalis looked like she couldn't breathe. "She's so heart-broken..." 

Len ordered for a possession demon to be in my body to help Crystalis stay alive in me and wanted someone to call Kali. He had no idea what had happened. Damien volunteered to leave. Salax looked to my crystal ball, which now rolled to my body. Kanna was so pissed off. She looked just like me, it was kinda cute. "Father, how could you!"

"…I, I'm sorry…" 

I shook my head. Apologies didn't raise the dead. Nor did it undo the damage from being called a whore by someone you idolized as a child. He was the only reason I didn't try to kill myself growing up. When everyone else was trying to take my wings or kill me, he was the only one who showed me compassion. He'd even saved my life. For Damien to pretty much disown me and hear both father and son call me a whore... It was just too much. 

"Nyxie, I can't live without her," Sal was kneeling down beside Kanna. Ver ran in

/and sat by him.

Damien returned with Kali and Nia, my crystal ball rolling herself to Kali, who picked her up.

"Nyx, I can feel your spirit nearby. Overshadow Nia and talk to us."

Why not? I floated over to Nia and placed my hand on her head. I faced her to Salax. "Calm thyself, my love." My voice came from her. 

"Nyxie?!" He turned to her.

I had her smile. "Yes."

"Mom!"

"Nyxie?" Len stared at Nia.

"What's left of me, yes."

"Whose ass am I rolling over? Who broke my mistress?!" Crys was pissed.

"I thought as much," Kali shook her head, Kanna pointing to Erys. Crys rolled from Kali's hands and rolled over his feet.

"Crys, how many pieces of her soul wandered?" Kali tapped the crystal to get her attention.

"2. Erys has to fix her."

"Why me? Sal should do it, he's her mate now," Erys scoffed.

Kali growled and I just made Nia sigh. "Who broke the spirit has to fix it. But Kali should, as I get the feeling Erys won't even try. I can feel his hateful energy, even in death."

"I don't hate you, no matter how hard I try, I can't hate you. I'll always love you."

Nia and I crossed our arms. "So, you did try." We turned away as I sang to myself. "Holding on to set me free, come break away with me. Break the cycle, so we can run away."

"I'm sorry," he looked down. 

"Sorry doesn't bring back the dead. I guess we now know heartbreak can kill," Nia and I glared at Damien as well. "I'll deal with you later." His wolf ears flattened as he nodded.

Erys was clueless on how to fix my broken spirit. Salax hissed that Erys should be sent to Rafia and I agreed, even though I was scolded for it. But I didn't care, I was dead. Sal kept glaring but I told him to stop, it didn't suit his beautiful eyes. Len sent Salax on a hunt to keep him calm and from attacking anyone. Crys told Erys to focus on my spirit. I was missing fear and bravery. She tried to instruct him but he couldn't do it. Kali ended up being the one to do it.

"Everyone shut up," Kali sat the crystal on the table, drawing symbols of a half moon, comets and a star on top on it. While she did that, Len made a new gem for my heart for Crystalis to live in.

I just kept singing. Sal stared at Nia and my body, trying to figure out how to say something. "Mesmerizing voice."

"Nyxie Aurora Delor, with star fire and lunar energy, I heal your soul."

Nia and I shivered. "Tingly. What now? I'm whole but dead. "

Ver noticed my broken horns. "I'll get Elys!" Ver hopped up and ran off.

"Go to your body," Kali told me.

So, I did. Gravity slammed into me and I could barely open my eyes. I could cough, though, and I did. "We really need to clean the floor," I groaned, rubbing my head. "My horns…"

"I'm on it, sis!" Elysium came in and sat down beside me. He grabbed a horn and placed it over the break. He hummed until the break healed. He repeated it for my other horn.

"She dies and makes jokes upon returning, Nyxie is truly one of a kind. She's the best!" Ver laughed. 

"YAY!! I'm home, sissy!" Crystalis hugged me. "You're stronger now."

"I am?"

"Lenny here gave you a gem that had some of his power in it," she smiled.

"Welcome back!" Elysium hugged me when he was done, I returned it.

"Good to be back, I guess."

"Sal will be back any minute, he'll be happy. You're still the same demoness as before," Len sighed and sat.

As if on cue, Sal walked in. He saw me, instantly ran to my side, and held me close. Nia demanded a punishment, so did Kali. Len thought for a moment before deciding to exile Erys. I looked away as he left, still hurting from what he said and now seeing him leave. I just wanted to sleep, shortly falling asleep in Sal's arms.
