Yasmin nodded. She understood—but was miserable nonetheless.

Miserable and helpless.

It seemed that ever since she met Blake two years ago, she was destined for a life of disaster. Still, she knew that she couldn't blame Blake for all her misfortunes.

If she hadn't married him two years ago or if Blake hadn't fallen in love with her, her father would have probably died in prison.

She would have been an orphaned pauper and eventually met the same fate as Stuart. That said, being Blake's woman made her the target of Blake's enemies.

In other words, she wasn't in control of her own life.

No matter what decision she made back then, her life would still be full of disaster.
