Rayell POV

After Callox left and I cried my eyes out, Marcus came knocking on the door,

And I told him how desperate I was to leave, and he told me he understood. He brought Elara, my handmaiden, with who I had gotten close over the past few months.

We had to change into maid's clothing so I could easily escape the palace floors, and then we entered through a tunnel.

When we got outside, we noticed that Marcus arranged for the carriage and horses to take us to the supposed destination.

I wondered if Callox would realize that I was gone early,

I doubted it cause he probably would be too busy preparing to get married. Anger seeped through me.

What happened to fighting for my cause? What happened to not getting married to anyone but me? Was he lying?

I wondered who it was that he was getting married to, and somehow, I felt jealous that I wasn’t in her position,

I didn’t have enough political gains to be worth being his wife.

We arrived at the supposed destination, which was a little cot
