Jennet arrived at her office and was gasping for air. She rushed to the restroom and splashed her face with water at the sink. Then, she looked at her wet face in the mirror. Her complexion was not looking so good.
She exhaled and inhaled a few times. ‘Stay calm…’ She exhaled deeply. Everything that happened just now seemed like a bad dream.
She shook her head, 'No, no, no! I don't want to have any relationship with anyone within the company. I just want to be all alone with no more trouble. I have suffered a lot and it is time for me to find my happiness.'
She washed her face again before wiping her face with a handkerchief that she kept handy all the time. She was about to walk out when she bumped into Marvina who happened to walk into the restroom.
"Jennet!" Marvina gasped, her eyes widen in shock. "You scared me!" She said, half yelling. She bent down with one hand on her chest, breathing heavily.
"I'm sorry!" Jennet apologized and patted Marvina’s back, comforting her.
After a while, Marvina straightened her back, "I'm okay." She raised a thumb at her before heading for the sink to wash her hands.
Jennet stood beside her, looking at her pale complexion in the mirror. "Are you sure you’re okay? Your face is pale." She said.
Marvina nodded her head. "I am okay. Have you had lunch?" She asked instead. There was a wide smile on her face in the mirror.
“I had an amazing lunch today,” Jennet answered with a beaming face.
Then, she remembered the unbelievable request from Luca. She wanted to share the story with Marvina. However, when she was about to open her mouth, she saw Mira walking into the restroom. Her mood turned gloomy because she knew, Mira was one of the fans who adored Luca Tybelg and it would only spell trouble if she blabs about the happening during lunch break.
Mira was well-known in the company because of her exquisite beauty. She had long wavy black hair, big chests, sexy lips, a high nose, mesmerizing black eyes and beautifully angled cheeks. Her curvy body made her even gorgeous. She could be a supermodel because she was as beautiful as one, but, she chose to work in the travel agency. Maybe because of her beauty, a lot of people trusted her but no one knows that she was a two-faced coin. Jennet was probably the only person who could see through her mask because Mira always find fault with her.
"I think I know why that villa was sold at such a low price.” Jennet changed the topic and looked straight at Marvina. “It was haunted by a female ghost." She added, purposely luring Mira to take the bait.
From the corner of her eyes, she caught Mira glancing at them before entering the toilet. Mira probably kept her ear peeled in the toilet stall. Maybe afterwards, she will spread another rumour about Jennet’s haunted villa.
Marvina, who was oblivious of Jennet’s real intent, gasped in the mirror, “Oh, that’s spooky.”
Jennet nodded her head, “Yeah, it’s spooky indeed. I was uneasy from the first day I moved into that villa. You know, I felt as if someone was watching me. Constantly watching…”
Marvina glanced at her with knitted brows. "But, how did you know it's a female ghost? Have you seen it?"
"Well, last night I had a nightmare about her. It was so vivid and I could see her long golden hair. She was much taller than me or probably taller than an average woman and…she had fair skin." She explained. It was still fresh in her mind about the tall figure in her bathroom and the long hair that was all over her when she was in bed. It was a frightful night indeed. She wished not to see the same dream again.
"A nightmare on the second night of your stay in your new home? A female ghost? But, was she violent in your dream? Had she tried to hurt you?" Marvina bombarded her with questions.
"She didn’t hurt me,” Jennet looked at her hand. She still could feel the cold sensation of the pale hand that grabbed it last night. Did she felt the sensation of a ghost holding her hand?
“I jerked awake when she grabbed my hand because I was trying to flick her hair from me.” She continued while inhaling deeply.
Marvina glanced at her and washed her hands, "Well, you know some people say, if the new owner had nightmares after moving into their new home, it means something will happen to them. It was rumoured that such dreams are bad omens that you should watch out for. It also meant one thing; you should be vigilant at all times.”
Jennet shivered. She had no idea Marvina would say something upsetting. She was just trying to trick Mira who was in one of the toilet stalls.
Her train of thought started to work as she pieced the events that happened around her. She had just turned Luca down, so it must mean Luca might turn her life upside down or perhaps another juicy and upsetting rumour about her will spread again?
Either way, she can't tell. Everything Marvina said made her unhappy and it distracted her.
"Do you think I can survive the ordeals that may come upon me?" She asked out of the blue. She wanted another consolation answer that could ease her heart. Will she be able to survive all the ordeals if they knew Luca asked her out?
Marvina chuckled, "Well, it's just a mere dream. Don't read too much into it. If you're scared of that female ghost, then I suggest for you call for someone to help you chase the ghost out of your house.” She answered casually.
Marvina looked at her worried face. She added, "Well, it's just a nightmare. Nothing to worry about. If you don't believe in superstition then don't believe in it. Live your life normally. Unless you believe in superstitious things then I guess you will get used to it in no time."
Jennet eyed her and smiled, hiding her doubt. "Thanks. As you said, it's just a nightmare. I will not indulge myself in it. Furthermore, I’ve prepared myself for the worst."
Marvina glanced at her, “That’s good to hear. But, do you want to move in with me?" She wiped her wet hands with tissues.
Jennet shook her head while smiling, "Thanks for the offer but I’m doing fine at the moment. I bought that villa so, even if it is haunted, I will brave it all. Plus, I have no time to move to a new house for now. Moving house is exhausting." She exhaled a deep breath.
Marvina tossed the tissues into the dustbin and clapped her hands. "Then, if you ever need a place to crash, I am more than happy to let you stay at my place. You know so well that my room is huge compared to your previous room when you lived in the apartment.” She raised an eyebrow.
Jennet smiled. "I will ring if I needed a place to crash in."
The two of them left the restroom. Shortly after that, the sound of toilet flushing echoed. Mira stepped out and went to the sink to wash her hands.
'So, she bought that villa and it was haunted? Good serves her right for seducing my Luca. I bet she will live miserably there.' She chuckled to herself.
Ever since Jennet started to work in the company, Luca paid less attention to her who worked hard to make him see her as someone meant for him. Luca placed so much attention on Jennet and even wanted everyone to be nice to her. Because of that, Mira was so angry at Jennet.
Mira wiped her hands dry before tossing the wet tissues into the dustbin and then she walked out elegantly.
"I am Jennet Lockhart!" claimed the silver-haired woman. Delton furrowed his brows. He had no idea a foreign woman had the gall to make such a claim. He had just returned from the palace and heard of something bizarre from the emperor who was reluctant to divulge the truth. His mood deteriorated after the meeting."Can you prove your claim?" he asked coldly."My ring!" she said loudly. "Hue gave me a ring as proof!"Delton glanced at her finger. There was no ring."I'm sorry, but I don't think you can play around with such a claim," he said. "Lying will add more bad deeds into your account.""I'm not lying," she slapped the bed. "I am Jennet Lockhart. Get my husband here to verify this claim!"Delton exhaled. "I'm sorry but it's improper to call upon him to verify your claim. Have you looked at yourself in the mirror?"How could she claim she was Jennet Lockhart when her appearance differed greatly from hers? This woman must be desperate to get away from her punishment. The woman we
'Apologies for not helping much...' added the spirit.Delton sighed. "Never mind."He turned around and gestured at the reapers to leave the place....After visiting the nursery, Jennet asked to go out for a date.Hue smiled. "I love that idea. Where do you want to go? The gardens?"He was about to get bored and she proposed such an amazing idea to kill time. He was grateful that they clicked.Jennet smiled. "Is that a great place for a meaningful date? We have not gone on a proper date before. I want it to be a proper full-day date!"Hue responded after pondering, "I guess going to the garden is great. Unless you have a place in mind.""I do have one in mind," she said. She gave him a side glance and then smiled widely, "Can we go to the market again? Just the two of us."Hue's face dropped. "The market? Again?" Disappointment was clear in his voice.Jennet leaned closer. "Please, honey. This one time, please..."Hue scratched the back of his ear, contemplating. "Uh, can we go to a
Many hours ago...After spending some time gazing at Hue's sleeping face, Jennet went to the kitchen for a drink. As she quenched her thirst, a gust of wind blew hard, knocking on the back door to the yard. She glanced as she placed the glass on the counter."That's a strong wind..." she murmured and approached to close the ajar door.'West gate...'She froze. She furtively eyed the vicinity. Her heart skipped a beat and goosebumps crawled her skin.Although terrified, she stepped out slightly and looked around; just to ease her feeling. The backyard was mantled in darkness with the twin moon hiding behind thick black clouds.Thud, thud, thud, thud...Jennet flinched and looked up. The sound of footsteps came from upstairs and, strangely, she felt it wasn't her family members. She hurried inside, locked the door, and rushed upstairs. But, the hallway was empty. However, the door to their bedroom was slightly ajar with the lights dimly lit.Jennet furrowed. 'I remember switching on all
Hue and Jennet were downstairs when they heard loud bangs coming from upstairs.“What is that?” Jennet glanced in alarmed, half-jumping from her seat. Hue rose from his chair and assured her to sit comfortably. “I’ll go and check,” he said.“Be careful, honey.” Jennet sat down, hoping nothing bad would happen.Hue went upstairs and realised the loud bangs had come from their bedroom. He grabbed a hanger from the laundry basket near the stairs. In his grasp, the hanger morphed into a sabre.“Gomi?” he called.‘Yes, master?’ replied a voice in his head.‘Do you sense something off?’‘Apart from the spirit is ill, nothing else.’Then, Gomi’s presence vanished from his mind. Hue didn’t think much of it because he was sure Gomi and the rest of their familiars were unhappy after the twins placed them under restrained orders. In Fantasy Realm, restraining orders were considered a major distrust of the master towards the familiars. But, if the familiars were innocent, they could refuse to s
Hue woke up when something buttery and toasty hit his nose. He unfurled his eyes and saw the Smell Folk dancing in mid-air. Their dance was very graceful and beautiful, unlike usual. It seemed as if they were celebrating something that was long forgotten. He sat on the sofa and tied his long hair into a low ponytail. Yawning, he placed the bolster on the sofa bed and approached the kitchen.Standing at the entrance, he eyed his wife, whose back faced him. She was donned in the pink apron he uses when working in the kitchen. She was placing sunny-side-up eggs on a plate."Honey, I thought I would be making breakfast today," he said.Jennet turned around and smiled brightly. "I was up too early today. So, I thought of making breakfast for us since you always made it.""Why didn't you just wake me up?" he asked."You were sound asleep, and I don't want to rouse you from your peaceful sleep."Hue scratched his head and covered his mouth to yawn. "Is this your roundabout way of asking forgi
The turtle inhaled deeply. He broke into a smile. "Yes, of course, because some of the stuff I sell needs the good deed.""Oh..." Jennet nodded her head. She was confused but she had nothing to ask because she had no idea what to ask. The more she delves into the sensitive case, the more she gets confused about everything around them. After the conversation, Jennet and the twins took their time to see all of the stuff on display. The vast majority of the items were human's everyday stuff and were broken. For example, the quills without nibs, shoes without soles, cups without handles, bows without strings and the list just went on.Jennet came across a hilt, the only one among thousands of items on display. She felt a strange sense of Deja Vu as if she had seen it before."That one is notorious and dangerously powerful, but had a sad story..." The turtle gave an intro.Jennet glanced and asked, "What happened to it?" She was interested. The turtle inhaled deeply. "He was once a powerf
