'Hello," I answered back. I had to be certain that I heard correctly.

“Yes, who am I speaking with?“ The voice replied to me.

I cleared my throat, gaining my composure before I replied. “Am I speaking with Mrs Maria de Capo?“ I asked.

Drew and his brothers were looking at me expectantly willing to hear the report that I had indeed called the right person. I placed the phone on speaker as we all awaited the reply of the person on the other end of the line. It felt like minutes had passed as we waited for her to reply.

Finally, the long-awaited words we wanted to hear were spat out by the lady.

“Yes, you're speaking with her," she answered back.

We all let out the breath that we had been holding. I believed we all didn't even realise that we were holding our breaths because of anticipation and worry. I was worried that Maria might have changed her number and the person who answered the call was a different person. I dont know what was going through the minds of Drew and his br

“How is it possible to have two different sets of people working in a company?‘ I asked her. She laughed “What did you say your name was again?“ “Amanda," I replied. “Amanda Price,“ I stated again, emphasizing my full name to her. "Alright, Amanda. Listen carefully," she implored and I did, adjusting myself on the sofa and leaning close to the phone on the table."In the world of news, we have two different kinds of people. Actually, we have two kinds of reporters," she started."Okay," I was wide, ascertaining her that I was listening. Though this wasnt in line with my reason for calling her, no knowledge is lost to me.“We have the kind of reporters that love what they do. They enjoy gathering intenl on upcoming and renowned artists and showcasing them to the world. They like to act as the meeiatir between the Artists and their fans by fishing out the juiciest gossips about them not to ruin them but to make their fans have a certain degree of relationship with them," she explaine

"Were there three other chefs working with him?“ I asked."Yes, from what I could remember they were three others,‘ she confirmed. “But, that wasn't in the report you wrote," I informed her. "Oh, the report was mainly about William. You see, William was the son of one of my cousins and he needed help in boosting the fame of their restaurant," she said.“Okay, I get that but if they were as good as you claimed why were they not recognised in the city?“ I asked, confused about the whole explanation. "That's because they were just young graduates from school,“ she told me. “They had just graduated from culinary school and the other three weren't natives of New York. They were immigrants if you know what I mean," she said. Yes, I understood her point. It's kind of hard for those who aren't from the City to make it there especially when it involves starting up a business. "So, where was their restaurant located?" I asked her. "Umm,“ she said, trying to recall the address. “Last I rem

“You are sure these were the names of the Walter brothers?“ I asked her again, just to be sure I heard correctly. “Young lady, I am pretty sure those were the names I just called out for you. I'm only getting old and not losing my memory, okay?“ I bowed my head even though she couldn't see me and mumbled an apology. "I'm sorry," I said."It's okay. I guess that answers your two questions then. I am going to bed," she said."Wait for a minute!" I shouted before she could end the call.“Yes, any other question?“ She asked, impatiently. I knew I had encroached more into her time but I just needed to get one last piece of information before she dropped the call. “Sorry, I'm taking more of your sleep time,“ I apologized yet again. It was something I had been doing often since I called her. Well, not like I am complaining. After all, I needed her help if I wanted to know the truth about what happened to Drew and his brothers. And there was no way that I would be able to get it if I did

“Seriously, we've all been moving around in circles. What's our next course of action?“ Calvin asked, his voice higher and stronger than I'd ever heard before. There was no response from Mason and Drew. Their heads were both bent down and they were deep in contemplation. Honestly, I don't see anything worth thinking about. The best thing would be to investigate with whatever information we have."Okay guys," I said, drawing their attention toward me. “That's enough thinking. You guys are behaving like a pregnant woman who is in labour and it's killing my vibes. So, I need you guys to snap out of your weird thoughts and focus on the task at hand," I said, breathing heavily after my speech. I never thought I would be the one giving this speech because let's be honest, I'm not that kind of person. I know that they know that and the whole world knows it. "What are we focusing on?“ Mason asked. "Did you guys not hear any of what Maria said?“ I asked them, surprised at the question from

I woke up the next morning with a new kind of energy. The energy to investigate. To find out more about the hidden secrets revolving around the three brothers who had taken up refuge in my apartment. Last night, we had concluded on sticking to the process I had penned down. It would help in easing the workload and prevent us from getting confused. Although Drew and Mason were sceptical about me finding any useful information concerning the restaurant incident, Calvin had been a bit open-minded to the suggestion. He had also offered to help me in my search, which I gladly accepted. Right now, I could use all the help I needed in ensuring that we get to the bottom of their story. I was very curious about what their story would be about. That reminds me, I need to work on the first step this morning. I don't see any point in delaying it till god knows when. I should begin as quickly as possible. The earlier I start my research on their story, the faster I would satisfy my curiosity.

  • Ghost Chefs   Chapter 42

I'm not a big fan of settling down and taking hours to search for the perfect combination of an outfit. As far as the colours rhyme, it's decent and there's no hole or gap in it, then I'm good to go. i don't give a fuck actually about what others think. Maybe that was one of the reasons why my ex-fiancee broke up with me. Who knows? Without wasting any more time I dropped my towel wrapped around my body and picked out whatever that I saw was a good combination in my wardrobe. I believe you all might have a faint idea of what I might have chosen. No, it isn't a T-shirt and jeans. I do know that I can't wear that to work. Leslie would just murder me three times with her eyes and bury me somewhere that my body can never be found. I picked out a dark red pencil skirt and a white camisole. Yes, I know the outfit isn't complete yet which is why I will be wearing dark red blazers over it and finalizing the outfit with my six-inch stiletto heels. I bent down to put on my panties, then I h

  • Ghost Chefs   Chapter 43

"I'm sorry for what happened earlier,x Drew apologized immediately after I entered the kitchen. I pretended not to hear him as I opened the refrigerator to get my skimmed milk. I saw there was already coffee in the coffee maker and I poured myself some. “Amanda, I know you can hear me. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to walk in on you in a compromising position," he said. Was he trying to apologize or make me embarrassed? I thought. Anyway, I decided not to answer him and continued with making my coffee which involved me adding lots of milk and two cubes of sugar. Don't scrunch your nose at my taste. I have a sweet tooth and this is how I like to take my coffee even if it's not something you can call coffee anymore. "Hey, Amanda," Drew whispered from behind me and I tensed up. I hadn't even noticed he had moved closer to me and was standing directly behind me. I could feel his breath on my neck and the thoughts I had tried to suppress came rushing in again "I know you're mad at me righ

I sat down on the chair in my office, glaring daggers at the creature seated before me. The creature in question was Calvin who was ignorant of the thoughts going through my head at the moment. “Were you spying on us?“ I asked him He snorted. “How could you call that spying? You guys weren't being subtle about the fact that there was a dispute between the both of you," he said, his eyes scanning around my office. “You weren't even there,“ I said, surprised by the fact that he knew there was an issue between me and Drew. "I dont have to be there to know what's happening. I have my source and they are always ready to oblige if I asked," he said, proud of himself.I faked a laugh. “Mason informed you so don't bother bragging about something that you can't achieve,“ I retorted He faked a gasp. “How could you be so heartless?“ He asked. I looked at him confused. "Did I say something wrong?“ I asked him, quirking an eyebrow at him “Of course you did," he answered back.“And what exact

“Shit," I muttered under my breath, avoiding eye contact with Leslie. I couldn't believe the kind of shitty luck I had. The very person whom I was trying to avoid, stood before me. There was no way for me to escape so I garnered what was left of my courage to face her. “Hey, Leslie. It's surprising to see you here this early," I said, laughing awkwardly. Leslie gave me a stern look. “Indeed,” She smirked.“Botox bitch," I muttered under my breath. “So, do you need my help with anything?" I asked her. Even though I was late, it was surprising to see her on this floor so early in the morning. There must have been a reason why she had decided to grace us with her unwilling presence. “Well, I needed to check on a particular person to see how far they had gone with the upcoming project. But, imagine my surprise when I found the office empty with neither the assistant nor Editor in sight,“ she said I sighed. “Sorry, I am late. But the reasons are beyond my power. There was nothing I

His hands held the sides of my head as he began thrusting into my mouth, loud grunts leaving his mouth. His head was tipped backwards in pleasure and his moans were driving me nuts with pleasure. There was a feeling of pride in hearing him express the effect I had on him through his moans. It was fuel for me to do more. I took more of him into my mouth as my hands moved down between my legs to pleasure myself.I could feel he was close to the edge and I rubbed myself quickly, hoping to come along with him. Within seconds, he stiffened and I could feel warm liquid slip into my mouth. My orgasm hit me immediately like a wave and my legs shook with pleasure. I took all of his cum, swallowing them and not letting any slip out of my mouth. “God, you are incredible,“ Drew muttered, watching me swallow his cum. I giggled in response, standing up from my kneeling position. “Come here," he commanded, drawing me close to him. He kissed me deeply and senselessly. “You are going to be the deat

I ran the water in my bathroom, hoping to take a quick shower before going to work. The coffee had helped in waking my sleepy bones but I still felt weak. If only I could spend the day indoors and not go to work, I thought. But that would never happen. Leslie would see it as an opportunity to chastise me and give me a query. That was something I wasn't interested in. The water heated up and I quickly jumped into the shower. I squeezed a reasonable amount of my shower gel into my hands and applied it to my body. I didn't bother with washing my hair because that would take more of my time which was the opposite of what I wanted to achieve. After applying the shower gel to my body, I ducked my head under the shower to rinse the soap off. The action prompted me to close my eyes to prevent the soapy water from entering them. I felt a hand wrap around my waist and I jumped in shock thinking an intruder had entered my house. I opened my eyes quickly to see who it was, forgetting that I st

I woke up the next morning to an empty bed. My head felt like there were so many pins attached to it and I couldn't make clear what happened the previous night. I was tired and felt like I had been run over by a truck. Fuck, I am never letting Cassie take me clubbing again. I muttered "I support that idea," Drew chuckled, walking into my room with a cup of coffee. He was shirtless and I got a flashback of what happened the previous night. He had given me the best orgasm of my life and unfortunately I had slept off after it. My body was exhausted. Although the release had helped in calming down the stress hormones raging around me. Drew strolled towards me and handed the coffee to me. I smiled and gladly took it from his hands, muttering a thank you. I blew on the hot coffee and took a sip. God, it was marvelous. I moaned in satisfaction, enjoying how he took great precaution in making it just how I loved it. “God, this is amazing,“ I moaned. Drew chuckled. “Only you think that

Drew leaned forward slowly, eyeing my lips, seeking permission to ask for more. I didn't deny him. I let him indulge just as I was enjoying the indulgence myself. We connected again and continued kissing on my bed. I slid further into the bed drawing him along with me. The kiss altered from rough to slow and sensual. I had to give him credit for being able to bring me to my knees with a kiss. His hands continued to explore my body. They ran the length of my body, cupping my breast and I ached into him. He dragged his hands down my abdomen, then further down my leg before he slowly slid up my thighs leaving a trail of fire in their path. A pool of wetness gathered between my thighs as I waited in anticipation for his hands to get to their destination. I spread my legs further apart giving him the permission he needed to touch me deeply. I have craved this for so long and it was about to happen. I couldn't help but Iean into his touch. A soft moan escaped me as he sucked on my bottom

“Damn, your body is a pure work of art," Drew groaned, his hands roaming around my naked flesh. "I could touch it every day without getting satisfied,“ he added, his hands coming up to knead my breasts. Somewhere along the line, our position on the sofa had changed. I was sitting on his lap, my back resting on his hard chest. I could feel the heat radiating from his skin onto mine. I leaned back into him, tilting my head to the side so he could have full access to my body. I was already far gone and there was no way I was going to be listening to any rational thoughts coming from my brain. I was acting plainly on what my body wanted. I needed to be satisfied after being starved of this pleasure for months. I ground myself on him and he placed a hand on my waist to stop me. I made a sound of disappointment, not liking that he had cut my mission short. “Slow down, babe. We will get there. Let me appreciate your body first," he stated. "I dont need any of that. Just touch me," I dem

  • Ghost Chefs   Chapter 99

I walked into my apartment to meet it the same way I had left it. There was no sign of Drew and I wondered if he had forgotten his way to my place. That can't happen because this was somewhere he and his brothers had stayed for years. Maybe he went to get something I concluded. With that thought in mind I meandered to my bedroom to rid myself of the clothes I was wearing. Cassie had gone all out with my birthday attire. lt was a gift from her and she had pleaded for me to wear it to the party. It was a beautiful black gown that clung to my body and accentuated my curves. I had loved it immediately I saw it but there was no fun if I had just put it on without stressing Cassie a bit. I stumbled into my bedroom, flinging the shoes in the process. Damn, those heels had been killing me all through the night. When I had been dancing with it, I hadn't felt the pain but now that my legs were no longer in motion, it felt like there was no flow of blood to my legs. I quickly stripped myself

"What the fuck is going on?“ I muttered under my breath. There was no way it was possible that Cassie could see Drew. This was the very same person she didn't know was hovering over her head at my office, a few months back. How is it possible that she was able to see him? “Hey, Ama. Aren't you going to introduce him to me?" She asked, giggling.Drew laughed. “Guess, your friend is way more drunk than you," he whistled.“Shut up, Drew. I am trying to process this situation," I barked. He laughed. “What's there to process? Your friend is drunk which explains why she can see me. Or, is there any other explanation?“ He asked.I rolled my eyes. “Yeah, you are right," I agreed. “So, would you do me the honours or I should do it myself?“ He asked, grinning. “What are you talking about?“ I asked, confused. Drew rolled his eyes. "I forgot that you were drunk also," he muttered. I snorted “What? No way. I am not drunk, okay?“ “Yeah, you waving like a flag is an illusion," he replied, sarc

"Umm, hey Cas. I am going to head back home now. I am a bit tired and tipsy from all the alcohol," I told her, catching up to her at the bar. “What? Why? We are just getting started on your birthday party. You can't leave before everyone,“ she said, her eyes heavy with alcohol. “Seriously, Cas. We have been drinking and partying for more than five hours now. The alcohol in you is not making you think logically. I think it's time we call it a night," I told her, taking the drink from her and returning it to the bartender. “Come on, Ama That's my drink," she whined. “No, it isn't. You need to stop and go home now. We have work to do tomorrow and I wouldn't want both of us to be dead drunk before then. Not like we aren't drunk already,“ I said, muttering the last part to myself. “Fine," she grumbled, leaving the bar. “Let me get my purse and say goodbye to the others," she said.“Sure. That sounds fine to me. I need to also thank them for coming,” I said following after her to the V
