He laughed. “Of course. The suit I ordered,” he said, an enigmatic smile on his face as he looked at me. He studied the designs. “It’s wonderful. You do have exquisite taste.” Amusement crept into his voice as he added, “I mean, that claret dress is a real stunner.” His comment had me picturing the customer in it again and the way she’d laid her hand on Dylan’s chest.

Mine, something deep within me, growled, and my hand instinctively shot to his chest, stroking Dylan as his eyes danced with amusement and… desire. I knew what he was trying to do. He was teasing me to try to draw out that primal side of me that wanted to mark what belonged to me: him.

Aware that my employee was still in the room and would be for another couple of hours, as well as those in the store downstairs, I suggested sweetly, “I could murder a coffee right now. Any chance you’d grab me one while I finish off some stuff here, D

Dylan“Bert?” I answered the phone quickly, tension vibrating through me. “What’s wrong?”“Nothing, Dylan.” My Beta’s voice rumbled reassuringly. “I was just phoning to check in,” he explained, sounding surprised at my troubled tone.I unclenched my jaw, feeling my shoulders relax too. I didn’t know why, but I’d been on edge the last couple of days like I was waiting for something to happen… something bad.I was sitting in the study of my townhouse, having come over here to work in my study on a bit of pack business. I generally only used the townhouse for my work. I’d basically moved into Cherry’s apartment, knowing it suited her and Fern best to stay there. It was Saturday, so Cherry was doing overtime in the store. The gentle whisper of Fern’s voice soothed me, her tones stirring from the living room where she was playing.“Are you all right?&r

My daughter’s dark eyes skimmed my face seriously, and I felt the quiet weigh me down as I waited for a second time to see if this little girl that I already loved would accept me.“I like you very much,” Fern said decidedly. “So I’m pleased you’re my dad.” With that, she hugged me, and I squeezed her tight. She asked excitedly, “Can I put on my party dress now?”Cherry had designed and made her a special princess dress just like Elsa’s, her favorite Disney princess, and she’d been desperate to put it on since waking. But Cherry had rightly said she could wear it after pancakes. The syrup stains on Fern’s pajamas showed what a wise decision that had been.“Go ahead, Sweetie,” I said, borrowing Cherry’s endearment for her. Because she was mine too, and she now knew it.As Fern rushed off excitedly, I collapsed back into the sofa, feeling flattened by the huge wave of

Besides, my dad, we’d have Dylan’s parents back in our lives too. I knew things could be rocky at first, given how Dylan’s choosing to pursue me meant that he’d gone against the old Alpha’s wishes. But I knew Chris and Heather were good people. And I was sure once they’d met Fern, their granddaughter, they’d be pleased to have us back in their lives. The idea of my daughter having such an extended network of family after having just me for so long seemed like something in favor of the move too.Yet, the idea of going back wasn’t all roses. I looked around at the vast, airy studio. I’d withdrawn a lot from Dylan over the last couple of days, hiding in my work and pulling a few late nights while he spent time with Fern. As much as I wanted to be with my mate, I felt as if I was already grieving for the business I’d have to let go of.I stared around at the long white tables where final prototypes lay. The intern

The heart under question drummed against my ribcage with an ever- quickening rhythm as if it knew it was the topic of conversation.I thought of how much the last few weeks had meant to me. Of how much Dylan’s pursuing me to Berlin, of persevering with nurturing our mating bond, and then showing me every day how much he loved Fern and me.“I love him, Bert. I can’t imagine ever being away from him again.” I laughed, realizing how true that was and finally feeling the tension that had built within me effervesce. Every day he wasn’t with me here at the store was a daily struggle, which was more often of late, given how much pack business he’d had to take care of remotely.“I swear by Nuu-Chah, he is my one true mate,” I said, feeling my decision take root within me.“Good,” Bert said the smile back in his voice. “After I get off the phone, I’m gonna howl at the moon in celebration. But

Then doubts skittered across my mind. What if Cherry seemed subdued when I showed her the plans? If she was hesitant, did it mean she was backtracking on the decision she’d made yesterday? I realized I was worried about how things had gone at the store today. Perhaps Cherry would have rethought things.Fern’s footsteps sounded as she ran out into the hallway to hug her mom as usual on her return. Our daughter’s footfalls soon took her back to her teddy tea party while Cherry joined me in the living room. She cocked her head and zeroed in on the rolled-up paper in my hands.“I have a surprise for you,” I explained, my voice surer than I felt.Again, that sense of doubt zipped through me. What if Cherry’s going to the store today had got her thinking about all she was giving up?Before I could talk myself out of it, I pulled Cherry down onto the floor, where I kneeled down. Holding one end of the paper, I unrolled the par

My heart thrilled as Fern called me dad. I didn’t think I’d ever take her calling me it for granted. As Fern clambered into bed, in between Cherry and me, I took the lead. “Remember the heirloom I gave you for your birthday, Fern?”My daughter nodded, looking up at me as she snuggled under the blankets. “The wolf and crescent moon symbolizing the Moon God, Nuu-Chah.”I beamed at her, casting a proud look Cherry’s way. “You’re such a clever girl, my little banshee.”Fern grinned at my nickname for her, but my heart hammered against my chest as I realized it was time to tell her about her preternatural heritage. We’d shared with her mine and Cherry’s family’s belief in the Moon God. Cherry and I had thought it was a nice way of introducing her to her shifter god. After all, Native Americans had once believed in the same god.“Well, Nuu-Chah has told me it’s time for us to return to Starsmoon Pack, where your mom and I come from. We’re all going to fly back to Seattle in a few days, and

As I turned to Kendra, I blinked her in equally fondly. She was the mother earth type. She had a natural, wholesome beauty about her. She didn’t wear makeup, and her long brown hair flowed to her waist. “You’re going to make the best mom ever. I want pictures as soon as that little one’s here.”She blinked, nodding fiercely as she choked up.I left my employees, ex-employees behind. They watched me from the doorway of the store while Maisy waited for the movers to arrive and ensure that all our stock got picked up and taken to the airport. As I walked past the modern buildings, some brutal in style, their cold designs seemed to reflect my sorrow. Soon, I’d no longer be a part of this city. This place which had been my home for seven years would never be so again. When I reached my road, everything had become blurry as my eyes misted with emotion. Dylan must have spied me from the window. He hurried down the steps of his townhouse. Enveloping me in his arms, he said, “Whenever we have

I love your son, and I always have. I want to be his Luna and for Fern to be his heir.”Chris and Heather looked years younger with excitement in their expressions as they started to discuss plans.“You’ll have your bonding ceremony then in a month,” Heather said decisively. “That’ll give us enough time to plan but not enough for anything else to get in the way,” she joked.I left Dylan with his parents, knowing he had a good deal of pack business to take care of too.I drove to my dad’s house in Lake Horizon. We got out of the car, and I told Fern happily. “This is where I grew up, Sweetie.”My daughter took in the street and the view of the park with interest. Then her attention was fastened onto the large man, wandering down the garden path towards us. “And that is your other pops, my dad,” I explained, beaming at him as he came to meet us.When my dad stopped before us, Fer

Daniel's PerspectiveThe wind howled in my ears, and my heart nearly leapt into my throat. In that moment, the world seemed to freeze. There was only the sound of the wind and the frantic thumping of my heart. I looked down, closer and closer to the lake, knowing that this was the moment when I would reach my limit. But then, at the exact moment I braced myself, I turned my head to look at Giovanni. He, too, had leapt off the cliff and was plummeting downward. I had expected him to squeeze his eyes shut, flailing his arms and legs like I was, bracing for the inevitable plunge into the water. But what happened next was beyond anything I could have predicted. As we neared the surface of the lake at nearly the same time, I witnessed an incredible transformation: Giovanni shifted mid-air. In an instant, his body morphed into the form of a majestic werewolf—his muscular frame expanding with raw power, his entire being exuding the energy of a st

  • Getting away with the Alpha's Pup   Chapter 210

Daniel's PerspectiveI thought nothing special would happen today – or at least, that's what I originally believed. But as it turned out, I misjudged how the day would unfold. And that's how life often works—always teaching you an unexpected lesson when you least expect it.In the plaza of the amusement park, sunlight filtered through the swaying trees, filling the air with laughter and the tempting smells of food. People were buying cotton candy from the booths, jumping on trampolines, and shouting with excitement as they zipped by on roller coasters. I moved along with the crowd, step by step, almost as if I were trying to leave the mundane behind—without even realizing it.Giovanni, Finn, and I stood at the entrance to the park, and despite knowing I didn't really belong here—not with the joy that seemed to surround me—I couldn't help but look around. My gaze drifted from one attraction to the next, my insides fl

Fern's PerspectiveI almost held my breath. I knew that the temptation embedded in that statement wasn't just a comment about Daniel. My fingers brushed the edge of the tablecloth without thought, the cool fabric pulling me back from my musings. My gaze quietly settled on Daniel and Giovanni, their interaction like a subtle tug-of-war—effortless and fluid, but sending ripples through my mind.Giovanni's gaze was intense and focused. The familiar scrutiny that sometimes swept over Daniel made a cold sweat break out across my back. I took a deep breath, reminding myself that everything was under control—at least for now.To keep Giovanni from discovering Daniel's true identity, I'd turned to Peter the Wizard, the eccentric and mysterious old man. He'd given me a potion that supposedly shielded Daniel from the fluctuations of werewolf power, making him appear like any other ordinary child. However, the potion's effects were limit

Fern's Perspective"Mom, I'd like another roast." Daniel's voice rang out sharply, pulling me back to the present. His little hands shot up in the air, and his eyes sparkled as he eagerly watched the waiter bringing the dish. His movements were effortless, as though he had nothing to hide, no secrets to keep.I took a deep breath, and the corner of my mouth lifted into a faint smile. "Eat slowly, don't choke." My words were light, but underneath the table, my hands clenched into fists, a thin sheen of sweat breaking out on my palms.Giovanni's gaze felt like a searchlight, locking onto me with unsettling intensity.I kept my composure, the smile on my face unwavering. "As you can see, Mr. Giovanni, this is my son, Daniel.""A human son?" Giovanni asked bluntly, his tone smooth yet heavy, the kind of gentleness that carried a weight you couldn't ignore. He picked up his dinner knife and sliced into his steak with deliberate slowness

Giovanni's PerspectiveThe air in the room seemed to freeze, my eyes locked on Diana, like black holes intent on piercing through every secret she tried to hide. She stood on the other side of the desk, her fingers gripping the strap of her handbag so tightly that her knuckles turned white. I didn't respond immediately to her words, just stared at her in silence. But inside, my emotions churned like a storm, threatening to suffocate me."He's human," Diana repeated, her tone firm but betraying a subtle tremor. "Daniel is my child with a normal human. He has nothing to do with the werewolf world."I rose to my full height, my towering frame casting a shadow over Diana's petite one. Slowly, I rounded the desk, each step deliberate. The air grew heavier, charged with the intimidating presence only an Alpha could command. Her small frame trembled slightly under the weight of my unspoken challenge."Diana," I said, my voice low and even, thoug

  • Getting away with the Alpha's Pup   Chapter 206

Fern's PerspectiveEarly in the morning, with the fresh scent of damp earth in the air, I sat at my desk, my fingers resting on the keyboard, my gaze drifting aimlessly. Today's work felt unusually uninteresting, and my mind had already wandered far away. For some reason, I couldn't shake the feeling that something unusual was about to happen.I couldn't focus at all; my heart beat erratically, as though something was urging me to face it. I glanced at the clock on the wall, and just as I was about to dial my assistant, I heard a sudden voice.

Fern's PerspectiveMy heart skipped a beat, and my vision blurred. A thousand thoughts rushed through my mind, but none of them stuck. First, I was shocked. Then, fear gripped me. And finally—anger. It was almost surreal that my past, especially with Giovanni, was being casually dragged into the open today. The anonymity I'd worked so hard to maintain had been shattered by an uninvited guest."How did you... know?" I finally asked, panic evident in my voice. My heart pounded, as though a vice had tightened around my chest, making it

  • Getting away with the Alpha's Pup   Chapter 204

Fern's PerspectiveMoonlight streamed into the room through the blinds as I sat by the window, my hands clutching my cell phone. The unexpected message on the screen made my heart skip a beat. For days after the party had ended, I'd been anxious that Giovanni might discover something about Daniel, but to my surprise, Giovanni hadn't shown up at the office. All my suspicions and insecurities gradually settled, and I convinced myself I could go on with my life as it was—until this moment."I know your secret. If you don't want it exposed, meet me tomorrow at 3 p.m. at the Eclipse Café."

  • Getting away with the Alpha's Pup   Chapter 203

Fern's PerspectiveI never imagined I'd be standing in front of Giovanni at a moment like this. Six years had passed—six years enough for me to almost forget that painful memory, those deep and tangled emotions. But today, fate had brought me face-to-face with those eyes, eyes that once pierced so deeply into my heart. My heart pounded so hard it felt like it might jump out of my chest. Instinctively, I hid Daniel behind me, doing my best to block Giovanni's view. Even though I knew Giovanni's gaze was far sharper than I'd ever anticipated. My body tensed, frozen, barely able to move, and the clash of reason and in
