The breakup

“I want you to do something very important for me, you would go to the club down town later in the evening, someone very important is waiting for you over there” she informed reaching for his hand, she held it and squeezed it softly.

Finn looked surprised, why would his mother ask him to go to a club when she have been the one yelling in the past about his constant visits to clubs and how he would always come home stinking of both alcohol and cigarette “you hate it when I attend night parties or clubs, why are you asking me to meet someone there tonight? Can’t we meet somewhere else?”

She shook her head wagging her finger across his face “no, you can’t, this person insists, it’s important that you go please, just this once.”

“Fine, I would go..” he said reluctantly walking away.

Grace stood there, she shook her head sadly folding her hands across her chest, I could feel her pain but then I noticed she was scared too, who was it that she wanted Finn to meet at the club down town? could it be Riley? I thought running my sweaty hands on my hair. I watched Grace walk back into her office.

I turned to leave when I bumped into Finn, my soul left my body that instant, how am I supposed to explain this? I froze for the next few minutes and didn’t hear him asking me what I was doing there.

“Octavia, are you okay?” He asked staring closely at me.

I gulped and nodded.

“What are you doing here? I thought I asked you to resume work tomorrow, not today” he said looking very surprised.

“Oh! Yeah… actually I dropped my pen, yes my pen, you see it’s an important one, it have always brought me luck but I guess I didn’t drop it here after all, I should go now, see you tomorrow” I hurried off, I was scared he might ask more questions which I wasn’t ready to answer.

I got home few hours later, I had a pretty long day and my legs hurt, learning the games billionaires play can be very stressful you know. I soaked my feet in a bucket of warm water, this helped ease the pains I felt down there, my gaze moved down to my wristwatch and I took a deep sigh, no matter how tired I was, I must go to the club down town to see who Finn was meeting there. I was a lonely girl, I had no friends so I never expect guests, I dozed off right there still dressed.

I was woken up by a loud bang at the door, it wasn’t my door but that of my neighbors, they were pretty noisy and I have always hated them for that but this time around I was grateful that they were that way cause they woke me up at the right time.

My hair was already a mess, I went straight to the bathroom and had a quick shower, dressed up in a simple red dress, they weren’t so expensive so I was sure I won’t be noticed there. The club was mostly meant for the billionaires, girls who wanted billionaire boyfriends or husbands always go there fishing, you know what I mean.

I combed my hair into a pretty style, slipped a sliver heeled shoe into my feet and grabbed a silver purse, I loved fashion but couldn’t afford the expensive ones so I always made do of what I could afford.

I took a cab and was right there on time sitting at a corner, I ordered a glass of tequila and kept sipping it gently not until I saw a familiar face walk in with a young tall man who I equally knew, he was called Kurtis Jericho, the son of the CEO of Jericho limited, they were one of the top billionaires in town, with my mouth still agape it fell on the young lady, the same one who had slapped me earlier today, Rita Wilbur, Finn Caddel’s girlfriend.

I watched her walk to the VIP lounge with him, in no time I saw them hugging and kissing, I was dazed and disgusted, what exactly is going on? I shook my head, perhaps I wasn’t seeing properly, I rubbed my eyes and lo and behold, it was truly her.

“This is crazy, I do not understand these billionaires, who could have thought that any woman would ever cheat on Finn, handsome Finn Caddel?” I blurted out feeling so upset, I wished so hard that I could find Finn and drag him right here to see things for himself, I took one glance at the door and saw him walk in, I gasped.

I turned away quickly hiding my face from being seen, thank goodness he didn’t notice me, he kept looking around and boom! He was finally seeing what I saw, I watched him hurry to the VIP lounge in dismay “what is going on here?” I heard him cry out and in no time, all hell broke loose.

Rita kept mouthing, she was confused, she have been secretly dating both men for a year plus, they were both in love with her, they kept lavishing money on her, buying her luxury gifts and taking her on expensive vacations and she kept demanding even though she claims to be a billionaire’s daughter which she actually is but her family was going bankrupt so her father started using her to extort money from both men.

She kept wagging both hands with her eyes clouded with tears apologizing to both Finn and Kurtis, I noticed someone taking photos while the other was secretly recording, it was obvious that bloggers would have a lot to talk about tonight.

Kurtis’s face was covered in disappointment and disgust in no time, He hurried out in anger, he couldn’t believe that the woman he loved have been fooling and playing him for a year, he actually planned to engage her that evening while Finn had planned to engage her on his birthday, isn’t this crazy?

One of those things you see in movies was playing right in my very eyes, Rita was still apologizing to Finn reassuring him that he was the one that she truly loved but he pushed her off and stormed out of the club, she ran after him and I followed silently.

He zoomed off in his car and there was Rita standing with both of her hands on her head with uncontrollable tears leaving her eyes “my father would kill me today” she kept saying.

It dawned on me that she wasn’t telling those pretty lies just to be forgiven but because she was scared of how her father would react when he finds out that she screwed up.

“And someone called me a harlot today, little did I know that she was referring to herself, you are indeed more horrible than I thought Rita!” I lashed out at her walking closer.

She turned around staring innocently at me while wiping the tears on her face “who the hell are you?”

I laughed out loud “I know you remember me, my name is Octavia Harris, Finn Caddel’s new personal assistant, the same one you slapped earlier today.”

She went dumb at once and tried to walk past me when I pulled her back and slapped her “that is for embarrassing me today, can’t wait for these bloggers to make horrible stories out of your cheating spree” I mocked, I saw how bitter she was and yet she said nothing.

I walked away leaving her rubbing her cheeks, I felt deeply relieved, at least I got my revenge and finally, Finn have left the love of his life that seemed to be driving him nuts.

Well, she was indeed driving him nuts cause I walked past a bar in search of a cab when I saw someone who looked like him with bottles of beer on his table, curious me, I walked in and yes, I was right, it was him and he was drinking like crazy, I noticed he was crying silently too so I sat at a corner and watched him, I let him mourn his relationship for hours not until I realized that he wasn’t going to stop drinking, it was beginning to look like he wanted to kill himself.

I walked straight to him and took the bottle of beer from his hand “that’s enough sir, you should go home.”

“Octavia, is that you? What are you doing here?” He sounded really drunk but I was glad that he at least recognized me, I helped him up and led him to his car, I had to drive him home.

I was at the verge of starting the car when he grabbed my wrist, pulled me close and began to kiss me.

My eyes widened, I couldn’t believe it, everything felt pretty nice, I didn’t mind the fact that his clothes and mouth stinks of alcohol not until he started calling me Rita, damn! I withdrew myself from him at once, I felt really bad, he was vulnerable and I was taking advantage of it, I helped him relax back on the passenger sit and locked the seat belts while I drove off.
