My lovelies Please accept my apologies for not updating for so long. I'm currently in my exam prep, and my thesis is due by the 27th of May. After that, I will have a bit more air to breathe and also write. By the end of June, I will finally be over with all my exams and I will hopefully get my Law School Degree :D That means: From July on you will get a lot of updates. I have my book about Nerthus and Arawn fully outlined now, and I hope you will enjoy all the exciting things I have prepared for you. I thank you with all my heart for bearing with me and for all your patience and support
ArawnMy men had spent quite a good amount of time, looking into the murder cases. But even after asking the underbosses and interrogating the people who could have witnessed something in the respective districts, they came back with nothing.Which bothered me because this has never happened. And even if I normally wouldn’t care much about the matter, and New York was surely not Disney Land, I couldn’t let it go.Not if it was so close that it seemed to come for Nerthus. After I got the profile made by the profilers, I already thought that Derek wouldn’t quite match the picture. He was a sunny boy, always known to enjoy partying with women. He didn’t seem the type who wanted to cancel and humiliate them. But I couldn’t ignore what Vito had said, so I stuck with it.Until we found him in a rehab clinic, still trying to cope with his injuries.Well, damn it. My boots hit the wooden tiles of the pedestrian overpass, generating a hollow sound as I reach the hut to meet Mattia. He is alre
Arawn Clearing my throat, I finally get their attention back on me. Nerthus lays a hand on her hat as she turns towards me. “I know him.”She laughs as I squint my eyes at her. “I gathered that.”“Oh, you old grumpy man,” she laughs, stepping back towards me. “He is the one I had to talk to you about. The one who helped me out.”My eyes widen as I look back up at Mattia who is now wearing his usually happy demeanor. “Nerthus is your tea?”“Why does everyone keep calling me your tea?” Nerthus asks under her breath, making me chuckle.“You helped her move districts?” I ask back at him, and he nods.Nerthus inhales sharply as she turns back around, grabbing my arm in the process. “He also saved me the time we met, actually.”“Oh, no. It was nothing. Don’t tell him that,” Mattia groans, but Nerthus shakes her head.“There was a guy with a knife. The fucker had surely taken the thing with him from his mother’s kitchen. I mean it was a huge butcher thingy.” She starts enthusiastically while
Arawn She beams at me, nodding. “Of course.”“Danny is my half-brother,” I say lowly, and she gasps.“I beg your pardon?” She looks around as her voice got a little bit high-pitched. "Wasn't he your father's right hand's son?"Pushing my plate from me, I take another sip of my drink. “Yeah. I took a DNA test a few years ago. As my father and his right hand died, Annie made a strange statement. At first, I didn’t give it much thought, but after sticking with me for a few days, it started eating my brain up. So, I took him for another ice cream. I nearly felt guilty as he was so happy, but I just needed to get a sample from him.”“Oh, my God. He will lose his mind if you tell him,” she says, making me smile sadly.Scratching my chin, I click my tongue. “I thought about it. But then decided against it. His father is his idol. Losing that idea of being his son surely will have him falling apart. And he is already unstable as it is. I know that I will have to tell him, but I have to wait
Nerthus “And you are sure that we are allowed to do that?” Danny whispers as he follows me to the elevators.I wave at the security guards standing behind the reception, making them wave back at us with huge smiles on their faces. They look like the usual security workers in their boring little uniforms, but after all the time I spent walking through these halls, I am quite sure that those are just mockups and that they are like former special forces, who want to have a chill job after their service.“I have a key, haven’t I?!” I ask back with a chuckle. As the elevator doors close, he starts fidgeting nervously. “Relax. You will drop the decorations.”We are currently on the way to Arawn’s penthouse with two boxes filled with decorations for our Christmas tree. Danny was nearly losing it as I went to pick him up at home with Dario. But now, he must be thinking that we are breaking into Arawn’s apartment and getting cold feet.I chuckle to myself as I obviously got Arawn’s permission
NerthusEven before opening the door, I have a huge smile plastered on my face. As soon as he sees me, his eyes light up and he pulls at his suit, which must be totally uncomfortable. My cheeks are already hurting, but I can’t seem to stop smiling.“Merry Christmas,” Danny shouts, and I open my arms to welcome him with a hug. “Merry Christmas, Danny!”He hugs me tight with a happy sigh, making me giggle, “Come on in, sweetie. We are just about to finish cooking.”“You are cooking yourself?” he asks me with sparkling eyes, and I nod happily. “Is he helping you?”He gasps before picking up his pace to barge into the kitchen. “I have to see that.”I laugh as I reach them already chatting playfully.“No, please let me take a pic,” Danny pouts as Arawn keeps growling curses. “I won’t show anyone!”I can’t blame him as it is indeed an absolutely mouth-watering sight, keeping me struggling to keep my hands to myself. Even if I doubt that Danny will perceive it the same way as I do.Arawn is
NerthusArawn slowly opens the wrapped paper slung around the gift, making my heartbeat pick up its pace, the air in my lungs diminishing. I watch him silently as he opens it fully, clasping the frame with both his hands as he studies it.“Aaaaaaw!” Danny shouts, getting me to tear my eyes away from Arawn still staring at my gift. “Is this us in Coney Island?”I nod, my eyes jumping between an absent Arawn and an excited Danny. “Yeah, I had my favorite photo we took enlarged a little bit and framed. So, we could all have a nice souvenir of the day. I thought-”My nervous rambling gets interrupted by Arawn standing up and leaving the room without saying anything. I gulp hard, pushing the painful knot down my throat with difficulty.“What is happening?” Danny asks, and I shake my head slowly.“I don’t know, baby. But don’t worry, I’ll go check on him.” I say while standing up myself. Forcing up a smile, I caress his chin encouragingly. “Don’t worry. I’m sure it’s about work.”Danny nods
Nerthus “Danny,” Arawn says as we walk back into the living room, making the boy perk up. “My turn. Come with me.”Danny jumps onto his feet, and I spread my arm towards him. He leans into me, and I caress his back as we follow Arawn into a sterile room, lined completely with white tiles. The LED light hurts my eyes as we reach Arawn, who is standing behind a showcase.“It’s not really a gift as it belongs to you anyway, but…” Arawn turns around to take a metal box out of the armoured wall and proceeds to put it down carefully on the glass surface of the showcase. “Go ahead and open it.”Danny takes the small key out of his hand hesitantly and opens the box with a feeble click. Opening the lid, we both peak into the box while Arawn grins proudly. “It belonged to your father. I had it cleaned up, and I also had them engrave a dedication.”Lifting the gun out of the box, Danny seems to be totally overwhelmed by his feelings as he turns it slowly in his hands.“Here,” Arawn points at th
