Chapter 48

The wind howled fiercely. The bitter cold seeps into my bones as I lie in the snow beside my father's lifeless body. The world around me is silent, save for the mournful howl of the wind as it whips through the barren trees. I can feel the weight of exhaustion pressing down upon me, dragging me deeper into the icy embrace of despair.

My father lies beside me, his once vibrant eyes now dulled by the chill of death. His face is peaceful, as if he is merely sleeping, but I know the truth – he is gone, lost to me forever. Tears freeze on my cheeks as I reach out to touch his cold, lifeless hand, longing for just a moment more in his comforting presence.

But there is no warmth left to be found in this desolate landscape, no solace to be gleaned from the endless expanse of white. I am tired, so very tired, of fighting against a world that seems determined to crush me beneath its weight. The pain of loss weighs heavy on my heart, threatening to consume me whole.

“As you all know, our beloved alpha is gone.” “ It's tragic my dear friends.” “He was immortal, but the life he had was never his. When the time came he had to give it back. Sorrowful tale my dear friends.” Eugene addressed the crowd. My new powers could see through people. Eugene, the usurper and brother of the late alpha, is a figure shrouded in darkness and deception. Tall and imposing, with a commanding presence that demands attention, he carries himself with an air of arrogance and entitlement. His features are sharp and angular, with piercing eyes that gleam with a cunning intelligence. His gaze is cold and calculating, betraying the depths of his ambition and the lengths to which he will go to achieve his goals. Eugene's demeanour is as cold as the winter wind that sweeps through the forest, his words dripping with honeyed lies and false promises. He moves through the pack with the stealth of a predator, his every action calculated to further his own agenda and so

As I approach the looming silhouette of the vampire castle, its ancient stone walls rise defiantly against the backdrop of the moonlit sky. The air is thick with a sense of foreboding, yet I am undeterred, my steps echoing against the cobblestone path leading to the imposing gates. Towering spires pierce the darkness, their jagged edges reaching towards the heavens like claws of some long-forgotten beast. Despite the chilling atmosphere, I am unafraid, my curiosity driving me forward into the heart of the legendary fortress. As I pass through the grand entrance, the shadows seem to dance around me, whispering tales of centuries past. Though the castle may hold secrets untold and dangers unseen, I am resolute, and ready to kill. My black cape swayed with the wind as I walked into the castle leisurely like it was my playground. I was no primordial, but I possessed a power so strong that I found it hard to keep under control at times. “Cease her!!!!.” A vampire screamed. They all came a

The snow blew fiercely against my skin as I made my way through. As I step into the snow, the crisp air fills my lungs, and the snow crunches beneath my boots with each careful step. Flakes twirl lazily around me, catching the light like specks of dancing stardust. The world seems hushed, as if nature itself is holding its breath in reverence of this serene moment. With each step, I leave behind a trail of footprints, a fleeting testament to my journey through this pristine landscape. Despite the cold, there's a warmth in my heart, and a little bit of suspicion something had happened. The weather was unusual. Winter had passed, it was spring. I was here again. I was back in Lycester it sucked . Lycester was a place I never wished to set foot again. The ground was threatening to swallow my boots. Pretty soon, I got to the outskirts of Lycester. I accidentally trampled on a branch and it snapped. The crack reverberated the mountain. A cave entrance stood out on the mounta

“Why did you do it?” He asked her. Her speech was slurred, her voice was faint as she struggled to breathe. “I…I don't know.” She coughed, blood spilled from her mouth. “Maybe it's the guilt I feel.” She replied sadly. I watched her slowly breathe her last. She was gone. Seeing her defeated, Ava escaped like she always does. Amelia wore no expression. Amelia's heart raced as the realization of what she had done sank in. Shocked, she staggered back, her breath catching in her throat. Her hands trembled as she looked down at Morgana's lifeless body, a mix of horror and disbelief contorting her features. Tears welled in her eyes as the weight of her actions settled heavily upon her. She had never intended for things to go this far, and now, she was left to grapple with the consequences of her terrible mistake. Her hate for me and her desire for revenge had cost her best friend's life. “Morgana.” She called out in a teary voice, walking close to Morgana's corpse. Her ey

The world slowly awakens around me, as if emerging from a peaceful slumber. Each ray of light dances gracefully, casting long shadows and breathing life into every corner it touches. Three years later…. Two children run around merrily. “You're it!!.” A cute little baby girl says and runs away. A little boy around her age follows in pursuit. I watch my babies with pride from across the field as I sip some tea. The vibrant red yellow and peach flowers beside me add colour and life to the field. It's a peaceful morning in Dycan again. The sun beamed radiantly from the sky. The air was clean and refreshing. I smile as I watch my twins have fun. They were worthy compensation for all I had lost. I wished my dad was alive to see them. They consoled me. Their birth brought nothing but joy to my life. Derrick had gone on a short trip, but it felt like forever. Sitting beneath the sprawling branches of a majestic tree in this tranquil field, I feel a deep sense of calm enveloping me. The tree's leaves create a dappled pattern of sunlight and shade, casting a soothing ambiance around me. I lean against the sturdy trunk, feeling it's comforting presence gro

We were back to Dycan. The palace loomed before us, a symbol of both power and oppression. But today, it would witness a reckoning. As we crossed the threshold, the air crackled with anticipation, our footsteps echoing through the grand halls. I could sense the whispers of the courtiers, their curiosity piqued by our audacity.Together, we strode towards the throne room, our resolve unyielding. As he pushed open the doors, a hush fell over the room, all eyes turning towards us.In that moment, I knew we were not just reclaiming a throne; we were reclaiming a legacy. With unwavering determination, we stepped forward, ready to confront Eugene and seize our destiny. He was frightened when he set his eyes on Derrick, but he managed to conceal it. “Derrick, what a pleasant surprise!.” I never expected you'll be back so soon.” “What are you doing on my throne uncle?.” Derrick questioned him sternly. “Oh this? I was keeping it safe and warm for you.” “I won't be needing you

“You don't have to worry about me, you can see her whenever you wish.” “It must be really tough leaving someone you love to marry a stranger.” I turned to see the owner of the voice. Sylvia smiled at me. I was flustered. She had caught me looking at Gwen hugging a stranger in the garden. “Are you jealous? She chuckled. “It can't be helped.” I replied in guilt I know you didn't mean to, you can't help it cause you love her.” “Have you ever been in love before? Is this what it feels like?.” I was forced to ask. I had never been an emotional person. I didn't even know how to express my emotions until Gwen came along. Sylvia took a deep breath and leaned on the window above the garden. One could see the garden clearly from there. “Yes I have: but clearly, I had to fulfil my obligations as a royal blood.” “Father didn't want me to marry him, he had no powers and he was a commoner. And on the other hand, you're the strongest creature among the twelve kingdoms.”

“You can stay as long as you like, courtesy of my husband to be and I.” Sylvia, the fox king's daughter, offered in smiles. I sensed she said it in a bid to spite me. Sylvia was a smallish Fox, her golden locs cascading like sunlight over her shoulders. With grace and power intertwined, she commanded the attention of all who beheld her. Her regal presence, though diminutive in stature, emanated an aura of authority that left no doubt of her sovereignty . Her gaze met mine, piercing yet gentle. “Thanks for your generosity but I'll be leaving in four days.” “There’s nothing left for me here.” I replied icily. I could barely mask the anger and jealousy in my voice. It was all thanks to her father Derrick was alive; But at the same time I couldn't stand the thought of Derrick being with someone else. A servant ran in just then.“My princess, we captured an intruder in our woods. “He says he means no harm. He's here to ensure Gwen gets home safely.” I was puzzled. Wh

I was happy to see her again, she was back in my arms. I missed her, she was always on my mind. But things had changed, and were about to take a different dimension for the both of us. I had a debt to repay the late fox king. He had spared my life and nursed me back to health. I could still remember his last words on the day he died. I stood by the bedside of the dying king, I couldn't help but feel a wave of sorrow wash over me.
