Chapter 3 : Luck

 There are things that were really uncalled for, things that are totally impossible and really unexplainable. Although there are things like that, there’s also those type of unimaginable and goddamn unbelievable kind of miracle that could happen to a person’s life and that is— this certain person’s discovery. Who knew? Some unbelievable scams are actually true?

Yenn proudly took out his bank card and his deposit slip. His eyes shone at the one hundred thousand dollars that were deposited to his account just recently. He played the 'Real Cash Reward’ and he luckily got rewarded with a hundred thousand coins! If the coin value was a dollar then he don’t mind playing that fucking event a thousand times since he was getting this fucking ton of money. Sadly, it was only a one time chance and all you get in that fucking chance is all yours. No charges, no fees and just fucking free!

He went back to his house with his newly bought groceries that could probably make him survive for a month staying inside without going out. He hum happily and headed toward the kitchen. He really planned to get a job so he could at least eat meals everyday but if he could just play a fucking game to get money then he would definitely do it.

He start putting the groceries on the fridge that was just a mere storage unit for Yenn to place his canned foods and vegetables that doesn’t rot easily. He also put the two dozen of eggs in it and the bunch of snacks he brought. He arranged it in a neat manner— the snacks were with snacks and veggies to veggies and so on.

After he finished up, he went to his room across the kitchen—which is the second door apart from the entrance is his room and was the only privacy he could have in his house. The bathroom was next to his room which was only blocked with a shower curtain so it wasn’t really that private but it’s cool, since he’s the only one in the house.

He reached out to his laptop bag on the same spot he hanged it since back then and took his laptop to open it up. He then logged back into the game and start playing.

The arc this time was about a poor protagonist who found an opportunity to work in the big city where he currently works at a big IT company. Being his Co-worker, he needs to make sure that the protagonist will meet his father which is the Company Director!

He shrugged and finally start doing the tasks, one thing in this game that interest him the most was the bizarre choice of task to do. They contained game bonuses and if you’re really lucky you could snip out some cash—and right now, Yenn is trying his luck on this to dig out more money. Well, he really need it.

He did some tasks and finally he found him—The protagonist.

“See, luck is on my side” he grinned and accepted the rewards that might go on his bank again later.

On the other hand, some people really had it worst or just basically unlucky so the impact of him completing a simple task was a very grudging outcome for the other players. Just like this particular girl who happened to be on the same arc as Yenn.

Hailey dropped the snack on her mouth as she angrily grabbed the juice beside her and drink it fast. For now, she’s in the finance department section—the main plot setting of the arc, so it’s not necessarily affecting her. What made her mad is that someone found the protagonist first! Not exactly the reason why—what she was going mad about was the reward points! She liked having lot of points and now someone snatched them up and it really infuriates her. She grumpily moved her character in the department then she saw two guys entering. She looked at the other guy, It must be that User!

Of course, she knew what the protagonist looked like! Everyone knew the director’s face! She was planning to find him after she get her snack but this mongrel—no this fucker found him first. This very goddamn points robber!

She glared sharply on the screen then a notification sound caught her attention, she clicked the dialogue box and picked. One thing about Hailey is, she like dialogues and never planned to skip so the other player in that conversation can’t skip it as they like since she’s the one who started it, she’s the one in control—and Yenn being the other player who got dragged into this matter was totally put off by the situation.

 “What do you want Newbie? I’m busy make it quick”

“This colleague of mine was originally supposed to be in our department but then they moved him to the production! By request, the head manager allowed him to be moved back here.”

 Hailey glare at the guy next to the protagonist and clicked “Why didn’t you request it to me first and directly head to the Head Manager isn’t there a rule here that before going there, they need a confirmation from the manager of every department?”

 The protagonist bowed at her as he pleaded “Please Manager! Allow him to work in this department! I confirmed that he is suited to be in our department”

“Manager,” the points robber finally opened his mouth.

He sighed and cleared his throat then said “There is no rule like that, as long as the head manager gave approval. You can’t do anything.” His character let out a cross arm emoticon which totally pissed her off.

 ‘Just how dare you speak to your superior like that? Damn this game plot is driving me nuts’ Hailey said on her mind.

“Oh well you’re right, what can I do after all you spoke to the Head although you’re here we really don’t have any workplace for you. As you can see, we’re already full” she then pointed to the workers inside the room. She paused and said “Although being my assistant is the only position available. I’m not sure You—”

“I’ll take that position then. I’ll be your assistant” he even cut her short. Fuck!  

“Fine then, move your things to my office hurry up we had a lot of work to catch up.”

She then looked at the protagonist. She shot him a fierce glare then finally walked away heading back to her office. She leaned back on her chair, pissed “I wonder who created a game where it’s based on real life? Even the plots are really making you feel like shit” she then grabbed a bag of chips and opened it munching it down and waiting for the game restrictions to end.
