A voice sliced through the silence.
Kc didn't let go.
"You are hurting our model!" Manager Kim's voice was firm, protective. He stepped forward, placing himself between Kc and Valeria. "This is unacceptable!"
For a long second, silence hung in the air.
Then, without a word, Kc let go.
Valeria fell back onto the bed, coughing violently, clutching her throat.
Kc turned on his heel, his steps slow, controlled, deadly.
Valeria sat there, unable to do anything as he left the room. The door shut behind him, clicking into place.
Her body slumped in defeat, fingers pressing against bruises forming on her throat.
Her heart pounded hard against her ribs.
This was not over. It was just the beginning. When she was about to leave the hospital, she thought KC had just left after their confrontation. The fresh air felt foreign to Valeria as she stepped outside. She was free. She could leave. She had to— "Get in the car, now," Manager Kim ordered, guiding her toward the vehicle. "We’re leaving before that psycho does something worse." Valeria nodded weakly, her throat still raw. She reached for the car handle—But before she could open it—
A strong grip yanked her back.
She gasped in terror as Kc’s hand latched onto her wrist, dragging her away.
"You’re coming with me." His voice was like thunder.
"Kc—!" she struggled, panic coursing through her veins.
Manager Kim yelled. "Let go of her! Security—!"
But Kc never let go.
He hauled Valeria across the parking lot. The guards hesitated, fearful to interfere.
She kicked, screamed-but he didn't stop.
"Kc, please—!"
And then she saw where he was taking her.
Her blood ran cold.
The morgue.
Kc pushed open the heavy door. The cold hit Valeria like ice.
Her heart was pounding.
Then she saw it.
The lifeless body of Vanessa.
Valeria's entire body went rigid.
She threw herself on Vanessa's mother; she clung to her.
"Did you see, Valeria?" Kc's voice shook with anger. "See my wife, my child?"."You killed them!" Kc shouted, pushing her closer and closer.
She crumpled to the floor, her sobs violent, hysterical.
"I– I didn't mean– "she strangled in agony.
And sitting silently amidst it all is Vanessa's broken, grieving mother.
Valeria gazed at her, her soul shattering. "Please," she sobbed. "I'm sorry— I never meant for this to happen—! "
Kc snapped.
"SHUT UP!" he roared his voice shaking the room. "You don't get to beg for forgiveness!"
Manager Kim panicked.
He pulled out his phone, and his fingers trembled as he dialed. The fire burning in Kc Page's chest was uncontrollable. His rage twisted into something monstrous, something that refused to be silenced. Before them lay the lifeless form of Vanessa, her face frozen in time; beautiful but empty. Gone. Beside her, her grieving parents wept in silence, their sorrow too deep for words. Their world had collapsed, had fallen apart and was now beyond repair. And in the center of it all was standing Valeria Jayne, the woman responsible. The woman who had destroyed everything. He gasped for air between clenched fists, which left marks of dirt under his busted fingernails as blood spilled from them. His entire body was shaking, but not with grief. From pure, unfiltered rage. Valeria knelt on the cold floor, her shoulders shaking, her tears falling freely. She pressed her forehead to the tiles, desperation dripping from every sob. Please," she whispered close to inaudibility. I never meant that this would go down. Me-me, sorrry I'm so-o sorry." His hands had grown shaky as well as he's reaching for her leg, she clutched his pants to plead silently against him, though Kc eyes darken, as his lips curdle from pure disgust. sorry? he hurled from venomous raw tone, "does your weak feeble apology amount to this end? His voice thundered through the morgue, echoing off of cold steel and white walls. "Look at them!" Kc roared, her finger pointed accusatorially toward Vanessa's parents. Valeria winced but raised her eyes. It was shattering what little she had left. The woman, Vanessa's mother, shook with a single sob that ended in the same as before-wracked up into her hands. He sat immobile, pale as alabaster, and vacant-eyed as death. "You did not even request pardon from them!" Kc shouted. "You did not even have the humility to meet them before today!" Valeria wailed. "I—i was afraid. I do not know how—" "You didn't know how?" Kc's voice shattered with unstoppable anger. "HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT!!" He pulled her by the arm, forcing her to look at Vanessa's dead body. "LOOK AT HER!" he bellowed. "DO IT!" Valeria screamed, her knees giving way. "BRING HER BACK!" Kc's voice was no longer human to him, filled with anguish and horror. "BRING BACK MY WIFE, VALERIA!" His arms closed tighter still, his body shaking. "Bring back my child!" He was silent. Silence, almost deafening, crushingly painful. A sob tore from Valeria's throat, shattering her being. "I. I can't." Kc laughed bleakly. "Exactly." His voice was deadly. "You took them from me. You stole them from me, and now you stand here crying like you're the victim?" Valeria shook her head wildly. "No—I'm not—please, I'll do anything—" Kc pushed her away. She fell onto the floor once again, trembling. "Anything?" His voice dripped with mockery. "Then die." Valeria's breath caught in her throat. "Fine." Kc's eyes flashed hatred. "Then kill yourself." Valeria just sat there. Kc jeered at her. She stalked forward. Standing over her. Kicking into it as the darkness overwhelmed. Kicking that way in anguish. But nothing had seemed too oppressive-awful-yet compared with that heavy oppressive-suffocating-tension within the morgue now. And then, like magic -. "Mr. Page, STOP! Manager Kim's furious voice sliced through the thick air. He stepped between them, shielding Valeria. "The police have already confirmed it was an accident!" Kim snapped, his face red with rage. "You are hurting her, Mr. Page! You’ve assaulted her over and over again!" Kc’s head snapped toward him, his jaw clenched so hard it could break. "You think this is all about the police report?" Kc growled. "That a piece of paper erases the fact that she killed my family?" Manager Kim stood his ground, glaring. "So you're a lawyer? Then you ought to know that you can get sued for all this foolishness!" For a brief second, Kc didn't move. Then— A dark chuckle escaped his lips. "A lawsuit?" he said, shaking his head. "You think I care about a lawsuit?" Valeria suddenly snatched at Kim's wrist; her voice weak. "Manager Kim… calm down, please. I— I'm flawed, too." Kim stared down at her. She turned her back on Kc, swollen eyes and a quivering lower lip. "I can never bring them back," she whispered. "But if I could trade my life for the return of Vanessa and your baby, I would." For a moment Kc stared at her, his mouth opened wide. His hands quaked.
He was on fire. He was suffocating with rage. But there wasn't a damn thing he could do about that. No amount of screaming would get her back. She was gone for good, no matter how much he hurt her. Then, The distant wail of sirens. Blue and red lights flashed through the morgue windows. Manager Kim took one last look at Kc before yanking Valeria away by the arm. The doors burst open. The police rushed inside. "Mr. Page," said the officer, sternly, approaching him. "We need to talk." One of the officers knelt beside Valeria, who was still shaking violently on the floor. "Are you alright, Miss Jayne?" Valeria couldn't answer. She couldn't even breathe. "Attacking a patient will have its legal consequences," the officer said, finishing up to Kc. "This is not personal, Mr. Page. You have crossed a line." Kc's fists clenched. His jaw set. He didn't care. He didn't fucking care. Because nothing was enough. Nothing ever could be enough. He turned his head to one last glance at Valeria. Tears were still clinging to her eyelashes; her face was a mess of agony and regret. But it didn't matter. She could cry all she wanted. She could kneel and beg, she could throw herself at his mercy. It would never be enough.Because Vanessa was still dead. And so was their child. And until he made sure Valeria Jayne felt the same pain he felt. This was far from over. Not even close.Valeria wants to genuinely apologize to the mourning parents of Vanessa. Valeria knelt on the cold tile floor, shivering. The sterilized smell of antiseptic mixed with the unbearable scent of death, hugging her in a noose. She could not breathe. Her swollen eyes stared at the lifeless body of Vanessa covered in a white sheet except on her face. A face that would never smile again, never speak, and never wake up.And next to her. Vanessa's parents. Her mother, her eyes red-rimmed, overflowing with tears, sat without speaking, her fingers curled around the edge of the steel table on which lay Vanessa. Her father slumped into his chair, shoulders collapsing as if the air had been sucked out of him. Their daughter

Her legs trembled under her, fighting to support her in the face of the suffocating pain inside her heart. When she came out of the morgue, her vision was downward-cast, the tears streaming out involuntarily veiling her sight. Manager Kim retreated, his distrustful eyes widening. His mind reeled trying to understand what she'd stated. "You're telling me someone did this intentionally Valeria?"Valeria nodded, went back to sobbing. "Yes. I did not know. I did not know it too late. Now I—I know what they've done. I could have been stopped, I swear to, Manager Kim. I tried to, I had to, but it wasn't enough. Now. now they are dead."Her crying tore across the still night, and her entire body tensed with the weight of the world."Valeria…" Manager Kim whispered, his voice weighed with sympathy. "Who would do this to you? Who would want to destroy you?"Valeria winced, her own face mirroring the desperation within. "I don't know what happen… but I didn't do it. He took a deep breath, his eyes focusing slightly. "We have to go, Valeria. We have to get back to the hotel. There is nothing more that can be done here."Valeria's head shook. Her body racked in sobs. "I cannot go back. I cannot leave. I cannot see people. I don't deserve to exist after all I have done." She sounded a note of agony. "I killed them. I killed them, and I can never restore them back."Manager Kim didn't say anything for a second. He allowed her to cry, allowed her to have her words drowned out in tears. But he couldn't let her lose herself entirely."Listen to me," he told her, his tone firm but quiet. "You don't get to choose your destiny today. The world will judge you for what you've done, but you don't get to take your life, either. There's still more that you have to do, Valeria. You need to make things right. You need to face what's ahead, whether you want to or not."Valeria looked up at him, her expression twisted with anguish. "I don't know how to meet it," sh
Justice. He was close to laughing at the very word. What did justice mean anymore, really? What did it serve to punish Valeria when nothing ever would have restored Vanessa to the world? To think of sitting in front of her once again in court, watching her plead for mercy and crying, made him all the angrier. But sitting there, the chill of his thoughts bearing down on him, another voice called out in his mind. Don't give her the satisfaction."It was so difficult to listen to Liam, to hear him speak of moving on when the future Kc had envisioned was now empty. His dreams, his aspirations—they were all lost. And no amount of Valeria's apologies, no amount of times she kneeling by him, was going to restore his family. How could you do this?" Kc muttered to himself, desperation in his voice. He needed to scream at the world. He needed to protest the injustice of it
