Chapter 7

Zara.

The kiss was slow and passionate. It was like Aminu was telling me how he felt through the kiss. It made me feel things i had never felt before. My brain couldn't think about the consequences of this but could only savour the taste of his lips on mine.

My phone message tone suddenly filled the car, making us pull away and also making me come back to my senses. Aminu was breathless and so was I. Aminu put his forehead on mine as we paused to catch our breath.

Suddenly regret washed over me like an avalanche. I had just met this man yesterday, and now I'm kissing him. I knew my parents trained me better than that.

"What did we just do?" I breathed out, my forehead still rested on Aminu's.

"I don't know, but I know that I never want to stop." Aminu whispered huskily.

"No"

Aminu pulled back, looking at me with shock written all over his face.

"No?" He asked me.

"No, its too fast, we just met Aminu." I said.

Aminu sighed, he looked defeated by what I just said. He took my hand and started to caress it.

"Zara... There's a lesson I've learnt in my life. When I see something I want, I grab it with both hands, damn the consequences. I saw you Zara, and you captured me. You stole my heart right from my chest. Now I can't stay away from you. And I know that Louis won't be happy about this but I don't give a damn. I want you Zara." He breathed out.

I looked into his eyes and there were so many conflicting emotions. There was hurt, hope and love shining through this brown orbs. But my mom always told me that if you rush into something, you end up rushing out.

"Aminu.." I began, making him take in a sharp breath, he was looking scared of what I wanted to say. "I really do like you... But there are ways to do things. We just met yesterday, I don't want us to rush into this. Let's just take it slow for now okay?" I said and he let out the breath he was holding and smiled that smile that I loved so much. This made me smile as well.

He kissed my hand, which I noticed he loved doing. "Any pace you want, its fine by me. Just don't leave me hanging too long."

I gave him a toothy grin and used my free hand to caress his cheek and he leaned into my touch "Oh Zara.." He breathed and I smiled at him.

I looked at my phone to see a text from Louis.

*Louis😎: I'll kill Aminu if I wait for you for thirty more minutes."

"Louis just texted me, I think he's angry. I have to go inside now." I told him leaving out the part about killing him.

He sighed. "Okay, I've actually held you for a while and I'm sure Louis has already imagined a thousand ways to kill me."

I laughed. And to think I was trying to ensue peace not knowing that they knew each other well.

"Goodnight Mimi." I said. I took my stuff, including the file and my Spicy Chicken takeout and opened the door, getting out of the car.

Before I could shut the door, Aminu poked his head out and called out "Goodnight fair lady." and winked at me.

I blushed and closed the car door, walking into the house.

When I got in, I was expecting to see Louis in the living room waiting for me with a cane or something but the whole house was so quiet. I made my way to my room to at least get out of my clothes first before I look for Louis, only for me to enter my room to come face to face with him sitting on my bed with his back against the head rest, his arms folded along his chest and his legs crossed along the bed.

He wasn't wearing his hat and that meant he had been back for a while now. He was staring at me with so much annoyance and I automatically knew that I was in trouble.

"Good evening Louis" I greeted and he frowned.

Oh God...

"What is good about the evening. What's this about you going off by yourself and coming back by this time. It's 9pm for crying out loud." He yelled and I got scared. This was the first time that he got mad at me and I didn't know what to expect.

"Um.. Uh I was with Aminu you know that. And it was Lola that sent me to him anyway." I said a with fear lacing my voice.

"So because you were sent to his office, that means you can go out with him and come back late leaving me worried sick." He shot back and I flinched at how much his voice had changed and all this wouldn't have happened if Lola wasn't using me as her slave.

I decided to stand my ground and lay my complaints there and then "If it wasn't for Lola I wouldn't have even been in that situation. You gave me to her to shadow her and she was busy sending me on non stop errands. Chizara do this, Chizara get that, Chizara give this to Marketing, Chizara I need food. I was so exhausted already and she sent me to Aminu's office with no means of transportation whatsoever. I had to use a company driver. I couldn't even get a drop of water at the office today so excuse me for taking a chance to eat before I collapsed." I finished ranting.

Louis' face was beyond shocked. I'm sure he didn't know that his fiancee was capable of all that until now.

"Lola did that to you?" he asked angrily and I knew the anger wasn't directed at me anymore.

"Yes, I don't know if she thought I don't know my job description. She's got another thing coming if she thinks she can ride me because she's your fiancee." I said, walking towards the bed and dropping my bag.

Louis stood up from my bed and came to stand in front of me. "I'm sorry she did that, it was my fault though. It's me that you're supposed to shadow seeing as you're supposed to be the executor of all decisions but I just had a lot on my plate today. But from tomorrow I promise I'll set things straight." He said remorsefully.

I shrugged "You better."

Louis suddenly started laughing making me give him a puzzled look.

"See who's becoming feisty" he said in between laughter.

"I don't blame you sha. Please leave me let me freshen up abeg. I'm tired." I said taking my bag towards the closet as he left my room, still chuckling.

I freshened up and wore my sleeping clothes seeing as it was late. One of the maids had already come to ask me if I was hungry but I told her I wasn't since I had already eaten myself to stupor at Tea Room.

I was on my bed munching on the Spicy chicken lollipops that Aminu bought for me when I received a call. I was thinking it was Aminu until I saw an unknown number.

I answered it after much contemplation.

"Hello?"

"Hello Zara. How are you?"

"Please who is this?"

"Guess my love. You bumped into me today"

I didn't need anybody to tell me who it was.

"Patrick?"

"The one and only. How are you love."

The way he called me love was unnerving. It made me feel weird. I didn't even know how he got my number.

"I'm fine. How did you get my number Patrick?"

"I have my ways dear. I would really like to see you again, outside the office setting that is.."

"I don't know how possible that would be. I'm a very busy person" I said. I didn't want to go anywhere with him.

"Who could be busier than a Chief Operating Officer." Did he just play that card?

"Uhh.. Another Chief Operating Officer." I said with a smirk.

I heard him take a sharp breath.

"Oh, you are too I should've known. That means this was meant to be."

"What was meant to be?"

"Me and you, Us."

I started laughing, this guy was deluded if he thought there was going to be an us.

"Look Patrick, I'm really tired and sleepy so I think this is where we say goodnight yeah?"

"Okay love. Sweet dreams."

I shut off the phone and put it down on my bed. I started giggling of of nowhere. It was so funny that he was already imagining us together so early.

It suddenly struck me that Patrick was Aminu's brother so Aminu should never know that I'm talking to him, given his reaction to the topic of Patrick earlier.

With that thought in mind, I dozed off to sleep.

Unknown POV

He sat in his car, waiting for the arrival of his partner in crime impatiently. He had to act fast before what he wanted was taken away from him by the same person who had taken everything else.

The door of his car opened to reveal his long awaited partner.

"You know I don't like to be kept waiting." He said darkly.

She glared at him "Look, you know I have a baby to take care of now. Why would you even call me out in the middle of the night?" She shot back.

He sighed. "Look I don't have strength for your craziness today."

"Just talk please."

"Aminu might be seeing someone else again." He said.

The lady became shocked all of a sudden "I haven't seen him with a woman since we got rid of Tumini. How are you sure that he's seeing whoever it is."

"It's Louis' cousin. He took her to Tea Room today"

"And how do you know this?" Jasmine asked skeptically.

"I followed them. And where do the members of TMC always take their girls on a first date." He asked, looking at her knowingly.

"Louis' hotel or... Tea Room" she answered as realization dawned on her. She knew for a fact that The Men's club had only two first date spots and they only took girls that they really liked there.

This was bad, and she didn't like it.

"What do we do now?" She asked.

The man sighed "We just have to drive them apart using a different tactic this time. If we use what we used for Tumini, Aminu and Louis might catch on and start investigating, especially Louis."

"I'll think of something, even if its killing the bitch my-"

"You will NOT touch the girl!" The man yelled making the lady flinch. "Just think of a plan that doesn't involve hurting or killing anybody"

"You like this girl don't you? I knew it. You that has been focused on overthrowing Aminu is now calling me out because of a girl" The lady stated folding her arms, making him huff.

"It doesn't matter. Just think of something."

The lady grimaced. "Hmm, I've fought too hard to make Aminu mine again and now that he's beginning to warm up to me, this girl comes along. I won't let this happen."

The man looked at her "do you have anything in mind."

"listen to me carefully..."
