CHAPTER 83: Ground Zero

Maverick’s POV:

Everything was different here.

Like a whole new world.

We stood at the edge of Lunaria as the city of Humans rose like a crown of steel and glass against the twilight sky, a contrast between our natured world and their technological advancement. This place was called SOLHAVEN, the boundary where wild and untamed land of werewolves met the order and chaos of humanity.

Towering skyscrapers filled the place, stretching towards the heavens. Massive holographic billboards loomed above, projecting images of human achievement: Their advanced AI, medicine, and exploration beyond the stars.

This place; The Solhaven, was humanity's pride, a testament to their ingenuity and ambition.

I glanced back at my companions as we crossed into the bustling metropolis. Minister Blackthorn, ever composed, adjusted his black cloak against his body, blending seamlessly with the human attire, his sharp gaze scanning for potential threats.

Natalie was beside him, he

The walls seemed to shimmer faintly under the floor of the overhead panels, and as we walked in, the smell of something hit me instantly—sharp, synthetic, and overwhelmingly potent. I scrunched up my nose in disgust, my nostrils flaring as I fought the urge to throw up. “Apologies for the smell,” Dr. Monroe said without turning, his voice tinged with amusement. Despite his walking cane that supported his old stature, he moved with a deliberate gait, his cane clicking sharply against the polished floor. “This is my private lab. I suppose you could call it a guilty pleasure of mine. Had I gotten a head start I’d be hosting werewolves In this place, I would have toned it down.”I nodded in response, trying to get used to the foreign chemical smell. I felt Natalie, Minister Blackthorn, and Daemon walking behind me, with Daemon occasio

CHAPTER 85: Rhella FireHeart Pyra’s POV: It’s been a week since Beta Thane’s unexpected visit to the mansion, and might I say I have been treading carefully ever since his visit. I still hadn’t written that letter to the hospital to officially take a leave due to my condition. Well, courtesy to Veronica who refused my application, insisting she’d cover my shifts, claiming it was better to keep any attention away from me. I agree, she has helped me this far, and I wouldn’t have even gotten to where I am currently without her. She is my angel. I sat on the chair at the kitchen table, cradling a warm cup of tea, specifically brewed by Madraya who had sworn it was the best traditional medicine to take, insisting it was good for my babies’ health. “Eww, Taste like poop,” I grimaced, hating the fact I agreed to her persuasion. Madraya was an odd soul—her presence in the mansion was barely noticeable, rarely leaving her room and only venturing out at night for fear of being

Why didn’t you report yourself to the main pack house in my office?”“And why would I do that?” Madraya spat, her voice like a whip, slicing through the heavy silence. Her gaze was sharp, daring Luna Verona to contradict her. “What did I ever do to warrant reporting myself? No Verona. You’re the one who is and has always been wrong, Verona. None but you.”The tension in the room felt like a storm waiting to break. Luna Verona’s gaze burned with icy intensity, but Madraya stood her ground, her thin frame somehow commanding a presence as strong as Luna's.“You have been so focused on no one sitting on the Crimson throne except your mate that you have neglected what

CHAPTER 87: A Ploy?Maverick’s POVThe atmosphere in the penthouse was suffocating, thick with unspoken doubts and lingering questions despite no words popping from anyone’s mouth. We arrived at the penthouse, one reserved and bought by my father years ago in case I was ever to venture into this part of the realm. We sat around the kitchen table, the space once a sanctuary now filled with tension.Minister Blackthorn sipped his coffee in silence, Natalie leaned back in her chair with her arms crossed, and Daemon stared at the wall as though it held the answers we all sought.I could practically see the wheels turning in everyone’s head. I couldn’t take the suffocating silence any longer. “Why?” I asked, my voice breaking through the stillness like a crack of thunder. Everyone looked up at me, their questioning gaze even more confused by my questions. “Why what, Alpha?” Minister Blackthorn asked. “Why would someone migrate from Lunaria into the human world and think of generating t

The room was silent as everyone stared nervously at each other. I turned away from Veronica when our eyes met but Madraya was the one to spoil my silent escape. “And Pyra, is there anything you would like to tell Veronica?”Shit. “What’s going on?” Veronica asked, stepping closer into the room. She must have realized something was off as Luna wasn’t even angry that the seer who had been running from her was in her home. Luna t

CHAPTER 89: Alpha Rhella Pyra’s POVI lay on the bed, staring at the cemented ceiling of the hospital penthouse. My thoughts swirled in a storm, pulling me back to the chaos and events of today. The words of Madraya, the shocked and piercing gaze of Luna Verona’s, the thunder in her voice when she demanded Madraya to stop talking rubbish, Veronica’s appearance, and trembling confession—it all played on repeat in my mind.“What just happened?” I whispered to myself, still staring upwards. Everything was moving just too fast for me to keep track of. No matter how hard I tried to understand, I couldn’t make sense of it. Everything felt too surreal, too overwhelming. They had moved me to a separate room, away from the shared space with Luna Verona. I knew it wasn’t just for my comfort. I couldn’t bear her presence any longer—the way her eyes seemed to strip me of every defense, every ounce of sanity I had.How does she feel to know her daughter is alive? I just couldn’t imagine. CHAPTER 90: Find RykersMaverick’s POVNothing. There has been no progress yet. I paved the length of the room, my thoughts tangled in the web of our stalled mission. Daemon sat in one of the chairs around the dining table, his fingers tapping rhythmically on his laptop keys, Natalie sat by the corner, busy with her phone. And Minister Blackthorn, he was somewhere in the house. “Have you seen anything yet?” I asked, stopping mid-step.He paused, his sharp eyes flicking to mine. “Nothing yet, Alpha.”I exhaled deeply, glancing over at Natalie. Despite the calm facade she excludes, I knew she was still seething, her anger simmering just beneath the surface. “Natalie,” I began, my voice softer than usual. “I just wanted to thank you for all of this—for putting aside our differences and focusing on what matters.”Her gaze snapped up, her expression unreadable. “I will do anything to protect my pack, Maverick,” she said evenly, though her words carried a razor’s edge. “Even if the Alph

The sharp, icy wind howling across the mountaintop, sweeping almost gracefully past a man as he stood on the rocky ledge of the high mountain. His long, dark hair, streaked with fiery red, danced in the gusts of wind, a striking contrast to his cold, stoic demeanour as he watched the chaos below. The pack’s territory; the Fangborn pack, once a bastion of unity and peace, was now burnt with the orange glow of battle. Screams of anguish mixed with the howls of werewolves, both from his gangs and the Fangborn resistance, their shadows darting through the blood-stained earth.Caspien’s slight crimson eyes scanned the scene below him. His face, devoid of emotion, though there was tension shimmering beneath the surface of such a heartless man. His voice was a whisper against the gush of wind, soft even, but commanding. “Just give him up already. I came here for one thing and one thing only: to take ba

CHAPTER 155: Not Forever Pyra’s POV:My breath caught in my throat as Maverick lips pressed against mine. It was a kiss unlike any I had ever experienced—wild, urgent, filled with want and raw intensity. His hands instinctively reached for the back of my head, gripping me tightly like he never wanted to let me go. I didn’t want it to end but I had to. I tried to move away, but Maverick held on tight, refusing to let me bulge out. His tongue slid into mine, massaging and dancing around it. I was strong, yes, but not that strong. I can resist many things but this mustn’t have been one of them. I couldn’t help but melt into the kiss, my lips parting to allow Maverick's tongue to deepen the connection. I didn’t know where I was again as everything melted away like candy; sweet, delicious, and short-lasting. It was only two of us, lost in the intensity of the moment. Maverick's grip on my head tightened, his fingers tangling in my hair as he devoured my mouth. I felt his passion, his d

The weight of frustration sat heavily on my chest as I clutched my phone, my grip tightening with each passing second that passed by. I had been calling nonstop, yet my mother kept my calls busy. Every time I tried again, the line went straight to voicemail. It was obvious she was avoiding me. My breath came out sharp as I ran a hand through my hair, trying to calm my nerves but to no avail. Everything was going bad, the walls of the guesthouse felt like they were closing in, suffocating me in complete silence. I checked the screen of my phone, waiting for it to flash with an expected call but nothing. I needed answers and I wanted them now. With a deep inhale, I forced myself to think logically. Maybe she was just busy. Maybe she wasn’t deliberately ignoring me.But I knew better.Mother wasn’t one of the ordinary things. She could be most secretive when she wants to. If she truly h

CHAPTER 153 : Not The Prisoner Third person’s POV:The bedroom was large and vast, bathed in the soft glow from the chandelier hung high from the room, seated perfectly on the ceiling as its glow cast radiant light against the deep, midnight-blue walls. The air smelled of fresh lilies and aged books, a mixture of both elegance and slight solitude, one not favored by one woman in particular. The same woman who stood by the window, her silhouette framed against the clearing beyond. She was still—almost eerily so—her fingers grazing the barricaded window as if reaching for something beyond it that couldn’t be seen, or someone. Her long black hair cascaded down her back, giving her the structure of a perfect portrait of how still she was. She was dressed in a simple white nightgown and nothing else. Her whole focus was outside the window, hating the fact she was kept locked like a prisoner, her sense of freedom inhibited by this barricade, one she so desperately wanted to claw at. “Do

CHAPTER 152: Dig Up Dirt Luna Elodie’s POV: Hours had passed since I returned from the BloodMoon Pack. I had showered, had my dinner, and now paced my chamber, deep in thought. The meeting with Alpha Sam went smoother than I would have thought, and now, I agitatedly waited for his reply. I needed answers and I wanted them immediately. The crackling fire in the hearth did little to warm the cold creeping into my bones under the soft clothes I wore. He should have sent a message by now if my calculations were right. My eyes caught a glimpse of my phone flashing and I rushed over, seeing Maverick’s name as the caller ID. Dammit. I didn’t want to speak with him yet. I haven’t gotten the information I needed from Alpha Sam. I had been waiting for Sam’s call, an email, or even a messenger but I was greeted with none of that. I couldn’t reply to Maverick when I hadn’t gotten even a reply or answer to what I asked for. This was the first time Maverick had ever asked for my help in digg

CHAPTER 151: A Grimy Past AffairLuna Elodie’s POVI chuckled, tilting my head slightly, disbelief colouring my tone. “I fail to understand you, Alpha Sam. What did you just say?”There was no smile on his lips, the usual constant smirk all but history, but his eyes held something deeper—calculated curiosity, or perhaps something far more dangerous, but I also saw—truth. He leaned back in his chair, swirling the remaining wine in his glass. “Excuse me?” He asked smoothly, “Is it about the part where Alpha Thomson had a son of such age or what were you talking about?” He chuckled a little, staring at his glass. “Maybe I took a little too much wine.”I narrowed my eyes, studying him. Was he playing games? Or was he being truthful? Sam was many things—a strategist, a manipulator, a man who never let his guard down—but a liar? No. Not unless it fully benefits him, and from what I could think of, this won’t benefit him even in the slightest; I would make sure of that. “And here I was fla

CHAPTER 150: The Luna In BloodMoonLuna Elodie’s POV:The line went dead and I dropped the phone, my fingers lingering over the screen as confusion settled in my chest, a small crease forming around my brows. What is actually going on? Maverick never takes an interest in things without reason, but this… This felt different. It felt deeper. I shifted in my chair, trying to find a comfortable position to think, but unease had already seeped into my bones and muscles, causing taunting and discomfort. My office—the Alpha’s office, usually a place of comfort since Maverick’s trip to the FireHeart pack, now felt like a space filled with unanswered questions. “He’s taking this man—Steven Stoneclaw’s case—to another level,” I muttered, placing my chin in my hand, my elbow resting on the desk. My mind scaled through many possibilities, trying to piece together the fragments of information I had. “What did this man do that could drag Maverick’s attention this way?”Steven StoneClaw. The na

CHAPTER 149: Pathetic Reflection Maverick’s POV: I felt the familiar softness of her lips against mine, and in that fleeting moment, I wanted nothing more than to be forever trapped here—lost in her warmth, her fire, her everything. But the moment barely lasted. Before I could even deepen the kiss, let my lip dance against hers, before I could pull closer and let myself drown in her, Pyra shoved me back with enough force to send me stumbling. The warmth I felt disappeared, replaced by the cold of the atmosphere. Then—crack. A sharp painful sting erupted across the left of my chin as her palm connected with my skin, the sound of the slap echoing through the kitchen like a gunshot. My head snapped to the side due to the force of the slap, and for a brief second, all I could register was the biting, sharp and painful feeling left in its wake. Slowly, I turned to her, and she was fuming. Her breath came out sharp as her chest rose and fell in quick, furious breath, her crimson ey

CHAPTER 148: A Not So Blissful Morning Pyra’s POV: The first ray of the morning sun streamed through the large windows of my chambers, bathing the room in its golden glow and hence stirring me awake. I stretched on my bed, a strange yet exhilarating warmth filling my chest. I opened my eyes to stare at the ceiling, the beautiful intricate design of the dense carving so perfect that I only just noticed it now. A smile spread across my lips, and I raised a hand to touch it, confused by the cause of it. For some weird reason, I felt light. It was rare for me to wake up feeling this light, this… happy. And just thinking about it now, I knew exactly why. The smile that tugged at my lips spread even wider as I sat up. It wasn’t something I had planned or even wanted, but knowing that someone genuinely cared—someone who saw me beyond the title, beyond the responsibility, beyond any flaws and still gave a damn—made my heart soar. A giggle left my lips as I stood up, a burst of energy an

CHAPTER 147: An Alpha's Untrust Third Person’s POV: The moon hung low in the sky, casting silver light over the garden outside the guest house. The same guesthouse Alpha Rhaella had just left several moments ago. Steven StoneClaw exhaled slowly, watching the mist of his breath disappear into the cool night air. He walked silently as he moved along the stone path of the small garden bore by the guest house he was assigned to stay in, his hands tucked into his pockets, his mind replaying every moment from the past hour. Alpha Rhaella had finally cracked. He had seen it in her eyes—the uncertainty, the hesitation, the exposure of what she truly wanted. She was strong, but even the strongest had weaknesses, and that was her heart. A smirk tugged at the corners of his lips as he stopped near a marble bench, his fingers absentmindedly tracing the rough bark of a tree. He was getting ever so close and attached to Alpha Rhaella; it wasn’t something he expected, but for some weird reas
