CHAPTER 136: Avenge Me

Third person’s POV:

The land remained heavy with silence, as though the earth itself held its breath in such a situation. Not a single leaf stirred, and even the wind seemed to shy away from the hallowed ground of the Fangborn pack.

In the heart of the Fangborn Pack’s vast territory was an open clearing, a place steeped in reverence and history. This was no ordinary ground. It was the ground for the cremation of fallen heroes who risked their lives for the betterment of the pack as a whole. A place where the goddess shall open her arms and accept her children into her kingdom. This was the purest of places in the pack, where the vile between the living and the dead stands thinnest.

But tonight, the sanctity of this place felt tainted. In the middle of this clearing stood a stone podium surrounded by grasses and hay, and tied to its smooth surface was none other than Beta Derick; a man now considered as Derick Cresentblood for his titles had already been strip

You are to resume your duties as soon as possible.” I said, taking a sip of my coffee as I watched the expression of my ministers. Minister Scott, my new minister of secret affairs adjusted in his seat, the skin on his forehead folding. “Alpha, if we go, you will be all alone here in the FireHeart pack.”“I will be just fine alone here.”But Minister Scott shook his head. “Alpha, it’ll be unreasonable to leave you all alone here. Even if not for your sake or ours, but for your mother, Luna Elodie. I know her throughout my years in the pack and she would kill us with her claws if we ever left you here.”I growled, suppressing my anger and frustration. They kept questioning my order even when I left no chance for questioning. “Minister Scott. Don’t make me repeat myself. You are to go back to the pack and oversee everything. CHAPTER 138: A Bit Of HopePyra’s POV:“I would go nowhere!”The deep baritone voice of Alpha Maverick echoed through the grand office, resonating with his unshaken resolve. I froze mid-movement, momentarily stunned by the sheer audacity of his words. Slowly, I lifted my head to meet his fiery gaze, my own eyes mirroring in challenge. I watched his towering frame as the room seemed to hold its breath, the tension crackling like lightning between us. How dare he? An Alpha, yes, but not my Alpha. Not the one to command me. I am the one true Alpha, and he dared disobey me?“Excuse me?” I asked, my tone sharper than I intended.“You heard me,” he replied, his voice low but carrying the weight of something I couldn’t decipher. “And I won’t repeat myself. Pyra…Oh, my apologies, Alpha Rhaella, have you taken a look at yourself now?”The more he spoke, the more shocked I was. What has prompted him to dare challenge or question me? I couldn’t even utter a word as I watched him step closer,

CHAPTER 139: An Imposter’s CallThird person’s POV:Steven StoneClaw watched with a grim expression as the stupid insufferable Alpha of Fangborn pack, Alpha Maverick finished his meeting with his ministers on the balcony of their guest house. His piercing eyes swirled around the old men, and a chuckle escaped him. “This fool of an Alpha doesn’t even know that his ministers don't even care for him or his pack. They only care for what could fill their pockets.” Steven whispered in disgust, knowing the hearts of ministers for his father’s pack had one similar to these.“Why do they even need pack ministers huh? To waste pack funds?” He now understood why his father dismissed almost all his ministers before he started his course for domination. And Steven fully agrees with his father. Packs don’t need Ministers who just sit around and get paid highly for doing absolutely nothing. With a heave, Steven shook his head and left the balcony, already bored as those he was spying on had all go

CHAPTER 140: The Punching LessonPyra’s POV: It was late in the evening and all I could do was stare at the horizon, the sky in a hue of orange, blue, and yellow, but my mind was far away. The sweat generated through the hours of workouts dropped from my body, soaking my clothes as they clung to my body like a second skin. My breath was still heavy, my muscles pumping with the remnant of the surge of adrenaline. Not feeling satisfied, I moved over and carried the heaviest weight, 200 pounds on a barbell, hoping to not only challenge myself but disrupt the thought of him ringing through my mind. But it wasn’t enough. The weight didn’t burn away the fire in my chest, the turmoil in my mind. With a frustrated growl, I hoisted the barbell high above my head, my muscles screaming in protest. But it wasn’t the pain I was after. It was the relief. And yet again, the weight failed to give me the relief I desperately sought, and I hurled it across the room in anger. It crashed onto the flo

I could feel his intense stare bearing down on me. I took a step back, but he simultaneously stepped forward. “I want to know the ins and outs of the great Alpha Rhaella. The very first Alpha Queen and female ruler of all Alphas and Lunaria as a whole.”The way he said it, it was like a dream. I couldn’t believe it myself; never in a million years would I have imagined I would be at such a level of peak as I was currently. “You’re exaggerating things. It’s not that big of a deal.” I said, still trying to step back, but his vest enveloped me. “It is a bit of a deal. The greatest deal ever in history. CHAPTER 142: Rose Bouquet Pyra’s POV:That night, after the event with Steven, I slept late. My mind churned with everything that had happened—the race, the moment his grey eyes locked with mine, and the subtle seduction. It was too much to handle, and for the longest time, I lay on my bed, replaying the memories over and over again. Maybe this was why sleep didn’t come easily, and when it did, my ears picked up the sound of a foreign voice. My ear tingled as I listened for the sound, hearing it coinciding with that of my babies. They were four months old now and wouldn’t know the difference between safe and dangerous. I sat up immediately, my heart hammering in my chest. The sound was faint but unmistakable. It was a voice—a low whisper that seemed to blend with the soft babbling of my babies in the adjoining nursery. My maternal instincts kicked in as I swung my legs over the side of the bed and stood.Padding silently across the room to the nursery, I pushed open the door. The

CHAPTER 143: PTSDPyra’s POV: I sat on the chair, closely watching everyone seated around me, satisfied there was no unnecessary drama today. It was as if everyone sensed my mood and wasn’t prepared to stir the beast within. I took another bite of my perfectly cooked bacon, my eyes giving a round check of everyone seated at the table. They all focused on the meal but I knew they could sense the growing tension, it was suffocating but I thrived in it. Mother stirred, adjusting In her seat as she continued chewing. Our eyes met for a brief second, but it was more than enough to see the glint of joy and pride in her eyes. She was enjoying this; making those around her swim. A soft chuckle left my parted lips as I slowly shook my head. “Mothers would always be mothers.” My voice was small, almost silent. After the meal, I stood up and left, wanting to recollect my thoughts as the fresh wind of the garden caressed me. I even told the maids to set up a mini office for me back there in

I leaned back in my chair, staring at the uncompleted workload in front of me. The space was nothing like a traditional office—it was something far more serene, yet equally commanding. The soft cushion-like chair, carved with intricate floral patterns, sat beneath a white canopy that billowed slightly in the evening breeze. Flowers climbed up the posts, weaving through the fabric like nature itself had decided to decorate my workspace. A glass lantern hung from one of the beams ahead, casting a warm golden glow amidst the glow of the evening sun. I must say, the maids had outdone themselves. This was exactly what I needed but yet, I couldn’t seem to focus on the work at hand. My mind was still far from being at ease. I hadn’t truly spent the past few hours working—I had spent them thinking. Steven’s words still echoed in

But when I got to the penthouse, Rhaella wasn’t there. “No, no, no.” I turned away, rushing to the halls of the FireHeart pack, shouting to the nearby pack members. “Where’s the Alpha? Where’s my mate?”The pack member opened her mouth to answer, but no sound came. Her eyes widened—fixed on something behind me. I turned, my heart thudding.Luna Verona stood at the top of the staircase, her long blood-red cloak trailing behind her like a storm cloud. Her expression was unreadable, but her eyes—those fierce dark eyes—held something deeper. The way Steven had always been adamant in knowing everything. The way Steven—no, Caspian—always seemed he was holding back a part of himself like he didn’t belong… because he didn’t. He never did. Not here. Not with us.It all made sense why he was a nervous wreck after I told him he must come with me to the RedClaw pack. “You never know what is around you, Alpha Rhaella. You can sit on your throne, thinking all is safe but oblivious that the enemy can be near.” I recalled one of the strange conversations he had with me. At that moment, it didn’t make sense. I didn’t understand then. But now, I see it all. There was an enemy close by, a wolf wearing sheep’s clothing. And he had always been near. Always been by my side. Always been under my roof and I stupidly trusted this enemy. They had alw

I didn’t even blink. My mind was focused on getting to one place and they shall feel my wrath. The bodysuit I wore molded my frame like a second skin. Sleek and dull red. The material shimmered faintly under the dimming light—thick enough to shield me in combat, yet light enough to move without restriction. It was the mark of the crimson Alphas. An armor they wore in times of battles. One that designates fear, not for any weapon, but the fire in our blood. The bodysuit clung to my form like armor, laced with leather straps and reinforced at the joints for agility and stealth. The style was ancient—Myrrakai, they call it, just like in the legends told of my ancestors centuries ago. No one has worn it for centuries, until me. A silver blade was strapped across my back, its hilt still warm from my gr

The scent clung to the silk sheet, the walls, the drapes… as if the room itself was infused entirely by her and refused to forget her. My chest tightened. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that she was truly gone. Forever. Yet, everything in here screamed her presence. My heart screamed for her. I stared at everything in the chamber. Her crystal paintbrush she cherished so much, her favorite painting bearing an image of her, me… and my father. Everything now stayed untouched, preserved like relics of a time I’d do anything to return to. I hated this feeling. I stood, watching everything like it was the first time I saw them before finally, I walked deeper into the room and sa

I dared not allow them a few feet away from me after what happened to Zerek. Never. Everything was happening too fast. Too fast for me to control. It was still too early in the morning but I was awake, energized. My body felt heavy, like it wanted more sleep—even though I knew I overslept. I turned on my side, dragging a hand over my face to wipe off the remnants of the strange unease clinging to me. Something felt… off.I didn’t know how to explain it as I stared at the ceiling but I felt that today wasn’t just going to be a normal day. I sat up slowly, rubbing my temples. The scent of the morning breeze drifted in, mixed with the faint perfume of pine from the woods beyond. I couldn’t move, barely able to breathe except for the cold moisture that was so dense that it felt like I was breathing in water. I took another painful breath in, choking on it immediately. My choking seemed to snap me out of whatever I was in because one moment I could feel my eyes closed permanently shut, and air as thick and dense as liquid entering my lungs, and the next moment, I stood before a forest. The trees towered over all, animals ran into their hiding spots as if running from something dangerous. The branches of the towering trees crept like hands, promising a destructive hug but even with that, nothing could hide what hung prominently in the sky, casting red lights that bathed the ground. The moon. It was bleeding a bright crimson red. I veered around, searching all around me. As strange as this place was, it was familiar. I didn’t kno

The once lively whispers of the wind had grown still, and even the wolves, proud guardians of the night, were silent—watching, waiting. And the lands of the FireHeart pack were not immune to this.
