CHAPTER 110: The Queen And The Alpha

Maverick’s POV

I stood frozen, the weight of her command rendering me unable to move, unable to speak as I watched the fury blaze in her eyes. Pyra—no, Rhaella—had every right to be angry, but the weight of her stare made my chest tighten like a vice.

“I know you hate me now,” I finally managed, my voice low, dangerously close to breaking. I took a step closer, desperate to close the thick chasm between us, but she moved back instantly, her movements sharp and unyielding.

I took another step closer and she took a simultaneous one backward.

“Don’t come close, Alpha. Stay the fuck away from me.” Her hands shot up, trembling but resolute, a barrier I dared not cross. “Stay as far away from me as possible.”

Her defiance stung. I could feel the anger and hatred coming from her and it did nothing to my throbbing heart. I knew I shouldn’t push her further, not now. Not when she was standing here, alive, after I thought I’d lost her forever.

CHAPTER 111: The Lingered EyesNatalie’s POV: The bungalow given to us was unlike anything I’d imagined—spacious, and modern. The long, opened-roof hallway stretched ahead of me, lined with individual doors, each leading to a private apartment. Everyone had their own space, a sanctuary within the shared home. Privacy here wasn’t just a luxury; it was a necessity.Maverick’s room stood opposite mine, and as I heard voices coming from outside, I went to check, instinctively only to get to the window facing his room to see two people dressed in black. One was a man, and the other, was a woman with her face covered with a veil, but a part of her red locks showed underneath the veil, and instantly, I knew who she was. “Pyra,” I growled lowly, staying by the side of the wall in order to shield myself from their eyes, my ears alert.“What was she doing here? And this late?” Normally, I would have interrupted them, for that bitch shouldn't be ten feet near Maverick, but the huge man in bla

CHAPTER 112: A Stupid Trail Third person’s POV:The moonlight was dim, as it barely shone through the canopy of forest trees, leaving the entire forest dark. The air was thick with the hum of crickets, their chorus punctuated by the occasional rustle of leaves as the wind whispered through the trees. And from this dense darkness, a figure emerged—a shadow among shadows. Dressed and coated completely in black, she blended perfectly and effortlessly into the Moonless night. With each deliberate and silent step she took, she got ever so closely towards the mortician’s lab, the heart of the pack’s hidden investigations, where secrets and unsolved cases lay buried, waiting to be uncovered. Her hearing was sharp as she pretended not to notice the sound of shuffling footsteps behind her, proving that she was being followed. Mr. Puckett staggered as he walked. He had just left the bar, his pockets light with a loss far beyond his worth but he didn’t care, for the money wasn’t his, but the

CHAPTER 113: The Disapproval To Solhaven Maverick’s POV:The morning air carried a heavy silence, thicker than the frost clinging to the large windows of the throne room. Everyone had dressed impeccably for the meeting, their attire a statement of preparedness. We had taken a short breakfast, though no one had truly enjoyed the meal as it seemed to be tension-filled, the kind that seeped into the skin and settled in the bones. My gaze swept across the large expense of the room, taking in every detail, every subtle shift of emotion. Natalie was beside me, her usual composure nowhere to be found. She bit her lips ever so often, her fingers twisting the edge of her sleeve, the fabric fraying slightly under her restless grip. Her foot tapped an irregular beat against the marble floor, the sound barely audible but noticeable enough to me. She was nervous—more so than the previous night I saw her by her window after I was done speaking to Pyra. I shook my head, trying to hide the exciteme

CHAPTER 114: Jest Of The PastMaverick’s POV:The murmurs continued to spread amongst the Ministers, the intense glare from Beta Thane of FireHeart pack, bearing on me but I kept my head high. It was the necessary risk that had to be taken or else the realm of Lunaria as we know it, might never be the same again. “It’s dangerous to associate with humans.”“They were the reason for the blood war that occurred decades ago.”“How dare he associate with those vile creatures.”“We’re strong and united, we need not the help of those power-hungry humans.” The voices grew louder, a cacophony of accusations and discontent rippling through the room like an impending storm. The Ministers of FireHeart Pack weren’t holding back, their disdain for the human world evident in each and every word they uttered. “They’ve always sought to exploit us, to turn our gifts into their tools of war!” One minister barked.“And now, an Alpha brings their veil influence back to our realm? Have we learned nothin

CHAPTER 115: The Crimsons’ Incoming Pyra’s POV: How dare he? He had no right to point that out! That was so low of him.The air in the throne room was thick with tension, Maverick’s defiance still ringing in my ears over and over again. I had tried to ignore it, but his words cut deep, not because of their content, but because of their audacity. He was still the same as before, daring and authoritative even in my pack. The ministers sat frozen in their places, glancing nervously between me and him. Even Beta Thane, the always and perfectly composed man, one who rarely faltered, seemed unsure of what to do next. I glared at Maverick, his strong posture unyielding as he stood before me. I should be used to this, for I grew up under him in the pack but now, standing in MY court, in MY territory, challenging MY authority before my pack? It was a line he should have known better than to cross. My glare intensified but as I watched him, there was no smirk, no signals to indicate he was

CHAPTER 116: The Puckett's Confession Luna Elodie’s POV:As I descended into the dungeon, enveloped by the scent of damp stone, and iron as it hung in the air, the sound of my light footsteps echoed mixed with the fear and sound of anguish that bounced off the wall. The torches lining the narrow staircase flickered weakly, casting eerie shadows on the walls. This was it. This was to my satisfaction. A time to finish up what I didn't start. The hidden chamber of judgment where sins were being punished especially now that I couldn’t be stopped by Maverick. I do appreciate his care for the pack members, but sometimes, to handle your pack well, one has to have an iron fist. Not everyone deserves kindness nowadays. I smiled, as things were finally looking a little good. There has been no information on the wolves that attacked the pack yet, but at least she was alive: Maverick’s mate. A painful scream from within the dungeon shattered my trail of thoughts. „Uhh, couldn’t a man hand

CHAPTER 117: Brewing Third person’s POV:The realm of Lunaria was filled with an uncharacteristic solemnity, the lands once bathed in the joyous sound of its people, now a shadow of their former self. And within Lunaria, the FireHeart pack stood at a standstill, as every pack member waited with bated breath. Every shadow that danced across the great expanse of the woods, every whisper of the wind that swept through the pack’s grounds, carried the same singular message: Something monumental was happening; the birth of the next descendants of the Crimson bloods. This was history in the making, for the FireHeart pack has waited for decades upon decades for a new crimson to be born and now, it’s finally occurring. This was no ordinary birth—it was a legacy being born. For centuries, the bloodline of the FireHeart Pack carried within it a unique and ancient power, one said to be blessed directly by the Moon Goddess herself. Each child born of this line bore the potential to inherit th

CHAPTER 118: Nobility, Light And Strength Luna Verona’s POV: The sterile scent of antiseptic burnt my nose as the waiting area felt suffocating, the walls pressing in with every agonizing second that passed. I paced the large space, my heels clicking against the cold, tiled floor. I was too restless to sit still and wait. My hands trembled, clenched into fists at my sides as numerous thoughts went through my head. What if there was a complication? What if I lose my daughter when I only just found her? What if I lose my grandchildren if the cesarean section fails? What if I lose them both? What if fate dared to take them away from me before I could hold them all in my hands? No, I shook my head, dispelling such vile thoughts from my mind. I needed to think positively. My legs carried me back and forth, the rhythm doing nothing to soothe the storm inside me as my chest tightened, each breath more shallow than before. How long would they take? CHAPTER 169: Boxed FlowersMaverick’s POVThe morning air was crisp, carrying the lingering scent of pine and damp earth as I made my way toward the penthouse. The sun had barely broken past the horizon, casting long shadows over the quiet roads. It was rare for me to be up this early in the morning, but yesterday was restless, leaving me with no other choice. We were meant to eat breakfast with Alpha Rhaella, and the prominent figures of the pack but for a while now, Alpha Rhaella has stopped that act. Instead, everyone eats their meals in their own private space. Sure, I do understand her for the last few meetings we had in the dining room and it turned out to be disastrous. As I continued walking down the narrow road, I felt vibrations in my pants and fished out my phone, answering the call without looking at the caller ID. I knew who it was before her voice could pierce through. “Mother!”Why would she have called this early? Was there a problem or did she find out what I wanted

CHAPTER 168: Green Intruder Third person’s POV:The river roared through the heart of FireHeart Pack’s land, its currents swift and relentless, reflecting the fiery hues of the setting sun. This was the exact place where the infamous Alpha Rhaella, the Queen of Alphas was found half-dead. This place was the beginning and the birth of a legend. Beyond the river, the pack’s territory was vast, a stretch of dense pine forests and towering cliffs that cladded a well tiled road but yet, the sweet scent of damp earth and wild musk filled the air. This late in the evening, the riverbank was not a place of peace and serenity. No, it was far from that. It was alive with the sound of footsteps wading through the waist-deep water, their breath heavy, and eyes scanning the depths for a single object—the lost necklace of Alpha Rhaella. Steven StoneClaw stood in the waist-deep water, his powerful frame tense as he watched the flowing water with keen, vigilant eyes. The necklace was no ordinary

CHAPTER 167 : A Call Hindrance Luna Elodie’s POV:After Minister Scott, made sure he continued his investigations. I didn’t tell him much knowing if there was anyone who could tackle this problem, it would have to be me. I dug into my pocket, fishing my phone and instinctively dialing a single number. I watched the phone ring, the screen brightness doing nothing to deter my resolve. I waited for the call to be answered, standing from my seat due to restlessness. Now that I think about it, why would Maverick ask me to find out about someone? I’ve asked this question more times than I could count since given this mission, yet no answer played forth before me. Does he mean he doesn’t trust that person, or the person was a great danger?Steven StoneClaw! The name is foreign yet carries a weight of foreboding along with it. The call ended yet no one picked up the call. I paced around, watching the pack through the large window for several minutes, enjoying the peace that reigned today.

CHAPTER 166 : To Be Real Luna Elodie’s POV: Following the instruction given to me by my son, I called in Minister Scott for a deeper investigation than I could provide. As I waited for his arrival, I took a few minutes to check the news. One would be surprised just how much information could be acquired from what others deem useless or not crucial. I, on the other hand, get all the information from whatever source was provided to me. The minutes passed quickly as I scrolled through the news, my mind processing each tidbit of information. The headlines were filled with the usual chaos: political unrest, corporate scandals, and the ever-present shadow of global tensions. But I wasn’t looking for any of that. I needed something different, something that was of great importance. Lunaria has always been filled with political wars for decades. I need not hear of them now. What I needed was something specific, something subtle that would give me an edge, something others might o

As I stepped into the gym, the familiar scent of rubber mats, metal weights, and the faint trace of sweat hit me and my eyes locked on a figure seated on the floor. Steven turned towards the door, his eyes locked on mine as he put away his phone. I frowned. Who was Steven talking to by this time? And who does he know to communicate with seeing that he was completely alone since he came to the pack?“Alpha Rhaella, greetings.”I nodded, acknowledging his presence. “Who were you speaking with?” I asked, my curiosity getting the best of me. Steven shrugged, looking nonchalant. “And why do you want to know? Is the Queen of Alphas that curious to know everyone I speak to?”“Maybe…” I said, sitting across from him. “But I know that you know no one else but I and several others here at the pack. Loud panting came forth, and then the colliding sound of fist to punching bag reigned supreme. A few drops of sweat fell from Steven’s face as he punched the bag with all his might, his muscles contorting against the pressure but it wasn’t enough. He wanted more, something more challenging but his mind kept whispering words to him:“No one looks up to me for anything important.”Punch!“I’m just another ordinary person here at the pack.”Punch!Steven gritted his teeth as he punched even harder than before, knowing even Alpha Rhaella didn’t want him for things of great value. “I will always be the second choice.”Punch! The thought of it made him rage. CHAPTER 163 : Smoke To The Heavens Pyra’s POV:For three days I’ve been locked up in the penthouse, deep in thought. Three days since the death of minister Elais and no amount of thinking could bring forth an answer to what he wanted to tell me, the night before his unexpected demise. Was what he wanted to tell me the reason behind his death? Did someone cause his death to hide something from me?No! I shook my head, sure it wouldn’t be close to that. None could betray me and it was a chronic heart attack that killed him, according to the forensic investigators, not that someone was trying to hide something. But could it be that he called because I was the closest to help him? Was he in danger? I held my head, furiously scrubbing my skull and hoping something logical would pierce out of my brain. I stirred slowly, blinking against the warmth that seemed to envelop me. I popped into a sitting position only to feel friction against my bare body. I frowned, moving the blanket and looking down only to find myself completely naked. My frown deepened as I tried to recall what happened that led to my current state. I suddenly felt a soft stir beside me and slowly turned to see a lump under the blanket. I stared at the middle of the raised blanket for the longest time as the memory of last night resurfaced. Slowly, my eyes trailed up and met the face of the person lying next to me. My breath caught in my throat, but that was it. I couldn’t panic, nope; I wouldn’t. Through the half-closed tinted window, I could see her head bent sadly, her mouth sealed shut. Minister Elais' death really must have had an impact on her. She turned and our eyes jammed and the SUV’s engine roared to life. Her eyes lingered on me for a split second, the silent tension between us thick, as if there was something unsaid, something unresolved. But then, the window slid up completely, cutting off the brief connection we had.I couldn’t move. Only stood there, frozen for a moment as I watched the SUV slowly drive off. The air suddenly felt a whole lot heavier, the weight of the moment pressing against my chest. I turned towards the slowly desolating conflict.
