Somehow, even after refusing to offer a help in hand, Denise still ended up stomping through the building with a tall, muscular Alpha stuck to her side. The most disturbing thing about the situation was the blood he was transferring to her clothes and the unnecessarily close proximity between them. He was clinging to her arm as if his whole life depended on it, yet…back when she wanted this kind of embrace, when she desperately wanted to be soothed by his touch, he had pushed her away and scorned her as if she was no more than a filthy rag.

Naturally, seeing him like this made her bitter.

“Denise.” She heard him call her name, “Instead of your fruitless resistance, wouldn’t it have been easier to just agree to a wounded man's demands?”
