I sat at my usual table in the library, alone and quiet for the first time in the past week. It was different but peaceful. I sat there doing nothing, just staring at the window. The time seemed to go by a lot slower without someone here to argue or talk with. I waited for about twenty more minutes until deciding to head over to the weight room.
When I was all
Connor turned around so that his back was in front of me, but he stayed standing in between my legs. "I'm not saying I want to ignore it Elijah, but if that's what she wants to do, I won't stop her."Elijah groaned, throwing his head back in annoyance, "Will you two just face the facts that you would make an awesome power couple? Seriously."
The next day at school, everything went back to how it was the week before. Connor and I weren't arguing with each other as much, and Ellie even spoke to me in homeroom. Sure, she only spoke to me to tell me how stupid I was, but it was a start. The only thing different was that everybody was talking about Connor and I, about how we had a date last night. It was weird having most of your high school know your personal business, but that's just the small price to pay I guess.
The following day at school, it was slightly more normal to have more people talking and staring at Connor and I as we walked through the halls. Certainly, I wasn't totally okay with it, but Connor just squeezed my hand lightly. He was going to have to help me not attack people who were making snide comments under their breath, thinking I'm not paying attention.
I met up with Ellie at lunch, poking around at my salad while staring at the door. I figured Connor would be here by now, but I still have yet to see him. Ellie snapped her fingers in front of my face, returning my attention back to her."Hello? Earth to Elizabeth? Stop gawking at the door and socialize with me."
Connor and I walked in silence to the gymnasium, and he left for a few minutes to go into the boy's locker room so that he could grab the surprise. I wandered aimlessly around the basketball court when another guy walked out of the locker room."Elizabeth? What're you doing in here?"
Ellie and I put a halt to turning in our applications until we got back later that night. For now, it was a bonding experience for the three of us.Ellie hopped in the backseat, "Where are we going, lover boy?"
Connor walked towards me and we settled for the swing set on the playground. Neither one of us said much considering I didn't feel the need to talk, and Connor was still asleep."Ellie seems to be okay with me lately." I nodded in response, still not feeling wordy.
It was the day of the boys' big homecoming game, and everyone was excited. Soccer was a big sport for this school, and any reason for the school to get hyped and dress up was also exciting.I entered the school, decked out in my boyfriend's royal blue and gold soccer jersey, black jeans, and matching blue converse. I decided to let Ellie paint my face during h
Ellie and I were preparing for the party, and much to my dismay, Ellie wouldn't allow me to wear what I was wearing to school. Something about, "Even though you're going to break up with Connor, doesn't mean you have to look like garbage while doing it." I went along with Ellie, trying my best to take my mind off of things.I changed into another pair of darke
Later in the day after Mr. Porter spoke with me, my mind was racing with thoughts on what I should do. I loved being with Connor and just hanging out, but when I thought of how everyone made my personal relationships their own business and even made bets on my sexual life, I grew old of it. Part of me wanted to end the whole romantic part of our relationship and just go back to being friends like how the beginning of the year was, but then the other part of me wanted to run away with Connor and just be together without anyone else bugging us.
The next morning, Connor and I didn't really talk. Mostly because I was dealing with a massive hangover, and I wasn't in the mood to speak or even listen. Luckily for me, I still had to go to school today. As I headed to my locker, I ignored mostly everyone and kept my head down. Lights weren't my friend today. I quickly grabbed my notebooks, lightly shutting
The girls' soccer game had finished up with the home team winning by two goals, and I was already sprinting for my car, ready to finish the night strong. Connor and the others were following behind as quickly as possible, considering Connor's condition.I had opened the trunk and was changing my clothes in the parking lot. Connor had reached me just as I was a
The next day was the closest thing to hell I personally have ever been through. I had never enjoyed the thought of everyone being interested in my personal life, especially to the point where everyone knew if I had been sexually active with my partner. After the rumor had started, part of me was hoping that since most students had believed the rumor, maybe they'd stop paying attention to Connor and I.
I stared at my phone, and the picture of Connor and I kissing in my car before we left to go nap at his house. Someone had taken the picture through one of the classroom windows by the looks of it. There was only a single caption over the photo.Guess who's the ultimate fuckboy?
The next day, I arrived at school and waited for Connor. His mother was dropping him off since he was still feeling some effects from his medication from the night before. I made sure that I'd help just in case he was really out of it, but considering his mother was letting him go to school, I was sure it wouldn't be that bad.Boy, was I wrong.
The sun was shining onto my face, forcing me to open my eyes and face reality again. But the sight wasn't so bad since it was Connor's face. He was already awake and smiling down at me. "Morning, beautiful."I rubbed my eyes, trying to look into the sunlight without hating it. "Why are you up so early?"
I was in one of the few places in my town where I felt safe and alone. No one else was around, and I could pretend that there were no rumors about my life. I stood in the middle of the soccer field, a ball under my foot. I was trying my best to forget about everything I had heard earlier. I started walking with the ball dribbling between my feet towards the goal. Just as I reached the end of the penalty box, I kicked the ball lightly into the goal.
