Sitting across from Elder Adam, I am trying to convince myself why I should not kill him. At least, not yet.

Raven is pacing inside my head like a lion trapped in a cage. ‘Let me have him!’ he snarls.

‘Patience.’

Raven growls but retreats to the back of my mind.

Elder Adam takes a small sip from his coffee while his cold blue eyes are fixed on me. Since his arrival to the pack and demanding to talk to me, he has yet to utter a word to me. Instead, he has been studying me for the past hour. If not for Rain having to unpack our things, I would not mind Elder Adam’s mind games.

For the first time in years, his presence irritates me, but I concentrate on the thought that tonight I will sleep with my mate in my arms for the first time. In our house. In our bed.

Elder Adam finishes his coffee, and after putting the cup on the table, he finally decides to talk, “You are probably wondering why I am here.”

“Actually, I was wondering when you are leaving.”

“You are as rude as always,” he says.
