Chapter 5

Rojas looked at his boss with surprise written all over his face. She was the same girl who used to bring happiness and joy in him. Ever since Cian took over his sister's responsibility in taking care of Damien, he had grown to become ruthless and especially cunning. To the outside world. He was a calm and composed young man. Girls always drool over him not just because of his amazing looks but also because of his good and kind nature.

Damien always visited charity events, orphanages and poor sheltered homes lending his money to help. The world had known him to be a wonderful and generous man. He was selfless and cared about helping the less privileged in the eyes of the world.

But if only they knew that it was far from the truth. He was a double face or a person with spilt personality. Only within his household knew about his true self. His demon self that always hid within him whenever he was in public. His publicity grew all around the world because of his caring nature and also made him to be worshiped by all.

But slowly, three years ago after encountering her on the hospital bed. He had a terrible accident which could have caused him his life. Even though he had all the money and fame in the world, he still lacked something important and special in one's life. Being loved and cared by someone. He always felt lonely. One night, he went to a bar and got himself heavily drunk. He entered his car while in a drunken state. His eyes were heavy and blurry and he had a terrible accident.

Pieces of glasses from the windows and front mirror were all pierced into his skin. In different areas of his body. He thought to himself. Maybe this is how it's going to end. I will be free from being alone and will be with mum. He said with a smile as his spirit was beginning to leave his body. His ears picked up a beautiful angelic voice. Hello sir, are you okay? He slightly opened his eyes, it was still a bit blurry but he could see her face and placed it in his memory.

She called an ambulance and followed him into the ambulance. She assisted the nurses in helping to treat him as for him not to loose consciousness. His eyes were still slightly opened. He saw the care in her eyes for him. She cared and did everything to save him. He was a stranger after all. Who helps anyone without anything in return these days?

She was different. She cared about saving a stranger's life. His heart was touched and from that night, he began to have feelings for her. He never saw her when he regained consciousness neither did he know where to find her. He only had something that could help him. His memory of her, her features. He remembered everything clearly. He spoke with Rojas and a sketch of her was done and in a few days, they located her for him and he started to visit her at her workplace every morning to spend time with her as being with her, he felt loved and didn't feel lonely at all.

 But seeing Damien now. Rojas couldn't help but be in awe. His love for her had began to turn into something dangerous and he feared it would not only ruin Emma's life but also his. He watched his boss and his uncle still in a conversation. He saw that Cian nodded his head at Damien. "Do what you want. It's pointless to reason with you whenever you are in this state". Cian spoke. Damien smiled hearing his uncle's support.

Cian then walked towards Rojas. "Get him all the information he asks you of and don't lie to him this time or I will personally see to it that you are six feet under". Cian threatened Rojas. Rojas gulped and nodded. With that Cian walked out of the room. Rojas turned to Damien. "Am very sorry for not informing you about her dating someone sir. Please forgive me". He said and bowed slightly.

Damien looked at him with no expression on his face. His hand moved slowly on the bed and went to his slightly opened drawer. He brought out a pistol and a bang was heard and echoed in the room.

Rojas jumped off in fear. He shot the floor and the bullet hole on the carpeted floor was only an inch close to his feet. He looked at his boss in horror. "Next time, I won't miss Rojas if you do this again!". Damien spoke with an obvious death threat in his voice. "Y..Yes s..si..sir". Rojas repiled stuttering in fear.

"I want you to get me all the information about her boyfriend. Who he is, where he comes from, where he works! I want everything and don't you repeat the same mistake again Rojas. You know I hate giving second chances!" Damien glared at him. Rojas nodded immediately. "Yes boss. I will be back with his information by morning". He repiled calmly this time. He was smart and knew not to hide any information from his boss again.

"Get out now! And be at my office by 9am sharp!". Damien spoke and Rojas immediately nodded and left his room.

After shutting the door behind him, Damien moved and got out from his bed and slowly walked towards the black curtain. He pulled it to one side and her big full photoframe came into view. He stared at her for a while. "Why did you have to fall in love with him?Why! Why!! WHY!!!". He began to scream at the photo frame as drops of tears gushed down from his eyeballs. He stretched his hand forward and upward until it touched her face. "Very soon doll! Very soon". He said and an evil smirk appeared on his face.

  Emma arrived at her workplace quite early today. She went to the changing room and changed into her work uniform. She came out and was running towards the kitchen when her blue eyes suddenly caught something. Something not right. Something that is not normal in her opinion. She halted on her tracks and turned around.

He wasn't there. VIP table 5 was empty. Damien wasn't in his usual seat. That was very odd to Emma. This was the first time he hadn't visited the restaurant after they met three years ago. Was he okay? That was the only explanation she could come up with in her mind.

Her innocent heart began to worry for him. Had something happened to him? Was he in another accident? She didn't have his number even though they spoke everyday. 

She entered the kitchen. Her Co worker and friend Sapphire was placing dishes on her tray for serving. She went towards her and tapped her shoulders. Sapphire quickly turned. "You are pretty early today". She said. "How is your mum doing?". Emma continued. Sapphire smiled and nodded. "She's getting better Em. Thanks for asking. I decided to arrive early to try and cover for my absence at work yesterday". Sapphire repiled.

She couldn't hold it anymore and she quickly asked. "Mr Damien didn't come today?". Sapphire turned to her. "I was also surprised when I arrived and found his table empty". She repiled. Emma became lost in thought. Something must have happened to him!

She was immediately removed from her thoughts with a snap of a finger. It was Sapphire. "Don't be so worried Em. He didn't show up today. Big deal! Am sure he had important matters to attend to and that's why he didn't come today. Forget about it". Sapphire said.

Emma sighed. Maybe he just didn't have time. He was a friend to her. She didn't let him know but she always felt good when talking with him and made her work lively throughout the day. Sapphire stared at her again and rolled her eyes. " Ah Girl. You're so kind. You are worrying about a stranger just because he didn't show up for one day". She said.

"He's a friend Sapphire". Emma defended. Sapphire giggled. "Don't tell me you like him. Sure he's handsome and all but I didn't picture you as the cheating type". She narrowed her eyes at Emma. Emma felt offended by her comment. "How can you think like that Sapphire?! He's just a good friend I talk with and No! I will never cheat on Eric. Never!". Emma repiled harsly clearly annoyed by her comment.

Sapphire raised both her hands in the air. "Am sorry Em. I know you are a faithful girl". She winked and Emma rolled her eyes. She then smiled and brought forth her left hand. Sapphire gasped looking at the ring on her friend's finger.

"Woah! No way girl! He proposed to you?!". Sapphire questioned with wide eyes. "Isn't it obvious. He did last night on my birthday". Emma repiled giggling. Sapphire grabbed her in a tight hug. "Am so happy for you Em. Truly. I wish you nothing but the best". Sapphire smiled. "I know and thank you. Our wedding is in two days from now". Emma spoke.

"What! And you are just telling me now! I have to find a beautiful dress and a wedding gift for your wedding". Sapphire gasped. Emma laughed at her. "You being there on my wedding day is more than a wedding gift for me Sapph". She repiled and they both hugged each other. "Sapphire. The tables 2 and 9 are beginning to get angry. You should serve them urgently". Julia spoke entering the kitchen. 

Sapphire slapped her hand on her forehead. She had forgotten. She quickly took the tray from the table and headed out. "Meet me at my house at 6pm tonight Sapph. It's urgent". Emma called out to Sapphire and she nodded before walking out of the kitchen. Emma also got back to work as well.

The glass door opened and Rojas walked in. He looked at the time. It was 9am. He was on time. He walked towards the big desk. His boss's big chair was backing him. He saw that he was staring at the window and looking down at the busy streets of Los Angeles. He cleared his throat and the chair spun around until Damien's face was before him. "So?".He asked.

Rojas nodded and placed a file on the table. "Here is all the information on Eric Norman, Miss Emma's boyfriend". He repiled. Damien cleared at him for calling him her boyfriend. Rojas gulped and turned away. "Are you sure you got every detail about him and no mistakes!".Damien glared at him. Rojas nodded . "Everything is there in the file boss. Everything you need to know about Eric Norman".
