Rhyland’s POV
Before I could utter another word, Raven was pressing past me, headed straight for the door.
“Raven, w-,” I reached my hand out to catch her wrist, but as soon as my palm brushed her skin I jerked backward. Her skin was blistering to the touch. I knew in my gut that her reaction to this wasn't just about Eladia. Eladia may have been a breaking point, but she wasn't the entire reason.
She whirled her head around and a shimmer of silvery blue rimmed around her almost black colored eyes. My heart stuttered for a slender moment, but I tried to calm myself.
Without uttering a word she turned back towards the hallway and made her way down it. Both Eladia and me followed quickly behind her.
“Raven please it’s not that big of a deal, it was my fault really I-,”
A hard gust of wind that flew past her face silenced her, taking her breath for a quick moment.
Raven’s steps didn’t falter and the sheer confidence that radiat
Rhyland’s POV“What the hell, Raven?!”Her eyes snapped up to Cassius and for a split second, she looked completely lost.“I-, wait… How did I end up out here?” Her eyes fogged over with confusion before bolting open wide as a sharp intake of air entered her lungs.“Eladia! Wait, where’s Eladia?!” She shouted, looking around frantically. I took a small stepped towards her, but before I reached her, Cassius stepped in front of me and stopped me in my tracks. He look towards me with a tense jaw.“You’ve done enough. I think you should go.” His eyes were hardened when he looked at me and I could see pure hatred, for what reason I had no clue. He should be thanking me for stopping his sister before things really got out of hand.“Raven, how are you feeling?” I asked, and she just rubbed her temples while wincing.“I- I don’t feel right…” she said groggily, and that’s when Jasmine’s cries and shouts cut through th
Raven’s POVGroggily, I flipped around in bed, still not satisfied with the amount of sleep I had gotten. My body was achy and the need for a few more minutes of shut-eye was overpowering.“Want breakfast?”I nearly jumped out of bed completely at the sound of Cassius’ voice. The memory of him sleeping in my floor last night fogged over, and I had forgotten about it.Rubbing my eye with the back of my hand, I groaned.“That sounds amazing. I probably wouldn’t even use silverware I’m so hungry.” I murmured and at that same moment, my stomach made a rumbling noise that echoed through the big room. He barked a laugh as he came up to me and ruffled my already messy hair.“You got it, I’ll be back in a few.”With those words, he slipped out of the room quietly and shut the door behind him. I took the time to pull my weak body out of bed despite my shaky limbs, to the bathroom for a quick shower and to brush my teeth. The water ru
Rhyland’s POVI stood in front of my father, the golden crown slightly tilted on his head as his full gray hair lifted it.“You think you’re smart, boy?” He growled and by the way, his eyes glossed and his cheeks burned red I could tell he had been drinking.“You’re drunk father, and I will not stand around and talk to a man that can’t even sit up straight.”“Shut it!” He growled, his voice booming through the room.I’ll admit, he had quite the nerve to yell at me in this state of mind.“What is it that you wish from me, or was my presence just for mere amusement.” I evened out and looked into his cold eyes that held the color of the ocean's depth in them."You, the only mind manipulater within millions of miles from this kingdom, thought I wouldn’t be able to tell from the gleam in Princess Jasmine’s eyes that you had a part in her
Raven's POV“Of course, it’ll take some convincing of the King, but I’d like to take the two of you back with me for only a short while and bring you back to your homeland. That’s if the two of you are up to it.”Her bright smile was so genuine, yet it made my stomach drop to the floor with anxiety.Go back to Zanatra? My eyes were wide, and I went to open my mouth, but Cassius quickly cut me off.“That would be amazing! But why would we have to convince the king of anything?” His voice couldn’t hide his pure excitement, and for a moment, I felt happy for him. But the thought of the blood that was shed on those lands many years ago still stuck to me.“Because no commoner has ever left his territory before, they’ve entered, but never exited.” I knew by the scowl on Cassius’ face who the voic
Raven’s POVThe sun had set, and I took comfort on my bed after a warm shower. I leaned back onto the pillows in thought, but something told me I shouldn’t worry too much about it.I just can’t help it.What if everything I’ve imagined in my head is what I’ll come to discover?Bright colors, people laughing and making their way down the streets.But... what if it isn’t?My stomach was in knots and I still did not know when she wanted to go. It could be next week or two months from now, I hadn’t really stayed for the details because I wanted to find Rhyland.I wanted to ask if his father had declined the request like I had assumed he would, like I hoped he would. He didn’t.But for some reason, the words coming from Rhyland’s mouth made the reality of it less scary…“Knock knock, little sis.” Cassius shouted through the door as he kno
Raven’s POVI rested there staring at my suitcase, the clothes that were provided from the royal’s loaded inside. Cassius stood across my room chatting it up with Elijah and I had to admit, this was the happiest I’ve seen him in forever.“What about our old spot? I wonder if it’s still standing!” Elijah exploded and Cassius carried the conversation on by agreeing and hoping it was.The door to my room creaked open to an astonishing Queen Fara. Her clothing choice had consisted of a loose golden dress that flowed out around her feet, complementing her dirty blonde hair.“Are you all ready?”I looked around the room and noticed one person was missing.Rhyland.“Uh- the Prince isn’t here yet.”She smiled over at me and nodded gently.&
Rhyland’s POVThe cool breeze blew past us as we entered into the abandoned castle, Queen Fara was right when she said the building had not been touched during the war.Which was strikingly odd…If you had gone to war with someone, the first thing you’d do would be to destroy their home. Make it impossible for them to stay hidden, but that didn’t seem to be the case. The white marble floor looked as if it were just waxed with a shiny coat layering the top of it.“Holy hell… This place is in immaculate shape.” I heard Cassius say, and I found my eyes wandering towards Raven. Her dark brown eyes searched the castle, but I don’t think she knew exactly what she was searching for.It was almost like she was lost and looking for a way out.Even from here I could see how this made her uncomfortab
Raven’s POVMy heart pounded loudly against my eardrums, and my stomach was twisted into so many knots that I thought it would never go back to normal.Butterflies fluttered inside my core as he looked down at me, his smirk slowly but surely turned into a frown as he eased me down, unraveling my legs from his waist. He took two steps back away from me and placed his hand over his mouth while he paced back and forth on the floor. His face slowly starting to show panic that I didn’t know the Prince was capable of. As I watched his demeanor completely take a turn, I started to get anxious.“W-what?” I sputtered out, still in shock. His eyes found mine but this time… This time they looked dark, like a storm that had begun to brew.“I… That was a mistake.” He muttered out. His movements stilled as he peered up at m
RavenTwo months later...."Cassius! More ships are entering the docks!" A guard that had taken a spot by my side called out to my brother, also my right hand man. Fate had a twisted sense of humor seeing as I never dreamed of a crown and Cassius was the first born, the one that was destined for it.I knew he didn't mind me being in power and he actually thrived within it. Unlike other kings from territories surrounding us, his masculinity was still intacted. Once Zanatra had it's homes rebuilt to the best poential and people started flocking for sactuary here, I had no choice but to reach out. The best option was to find an ally and I couldn't do that when every male within the kingdom over had his head so far up his own ass."Are you alright?" The firm voice behind me spoke and a smile involuntarily crept onto my lips.Rhyland.I stood and turned towards him, my arms slipped around his nec
Raven’s POVAs we walked to the docks I instantly spotted the enormous ship posted to them with a group of people standing on them.“Trouble?” Rhyland asked and I noticed his entire demeanor change, he tensed his body up preparing for the worst.I took a moment to look at their faces. In that moment I could only spot worry and dispair on all of their faces, nothing more.“No.. I don’t think so.” I admitted and as soon as we stepped onto the dock with them they all seemed to cowar back, the child even hid behind his mother’s leg.“We do no pose a threat, we are only seeking help from the Queen.” The eldest man was the first to speak and I stepped forward, my brows furrowed at the weariness.“That is me, what is it that you seek?” I questioned and the mother gently began pulling the child from behind her l
Raven’s POVI didn’t remember falling asleep, but I do recall the events that led up to my exhausted state.A small smile reached my eyes when I felt the warmth of Rhyland’s body heated my entire back and the weight of his arm around me was enough to make me feel secure.“Good morning sweetheart, did you sleep okay?” His rustled voice asked from behind me and I turned in his arms to face him.“That was the best sleep I’ve had in a while.” I admitted and my eyes fell to the foot of the bed where the large window was placed. The sun was rising above the sea and the bright orange beams shined directly in on us.“This is beautiful..” I mumble and I felt his thumb come up and brush against my side.“Very..” He answ
***MATURE CONTENT **Raven’sPOVA laugh escaped mymouth as I looked over at Rhyland who almost fell clean off of the roof.
Rhyland’sPOVThe two sat together andtalked about everything. Watching them chat about all that happened and how both of them were worried about the other warmed my heart.

Rhyland’s POVI could hear rough footsteps coming up the stairs, not the ones you’d want to hear. The type of footsteps that let you know you were in a heap of trouble. My eyes cast over to the hallway, seeing as my door was already opened and a fuming Cassius came into view.“I knew it! I knew you were in it for your fucking self!” I kept my face from showing any emotion, knowing good and well I should’ve known Raven would run to her older brother with this information. He walked right up to me and stood directly in my face, his eyes held so much fury and I could definitely feel heat rolling off of him. So that is his element I’m guessing?“I knew your sister would run to you, but did she tell you everything I said? Or just the parts she thought you’d want to hear?” At this, his eyebrows furrowed, and he slightly shook his head while his confusio
