Chapter 6 "A Mate's Touch"

Selena's POV

Why am I able to smell his scent? Why is it giving me butterflies in my stomach? I shouldn’t feel this way. I was scared of him,terrified, even thinking about what he might do to me. But despite the fear gripping my heart, there was something else, something in me that whispered against it, something that told me he wouldn’t hurt me.

His presence was overwhelming, but not in the way I expected. His scent... sandalwood, earthy and warm, wrapped around me like a strange comfort, making my thoughts whirl. I felt so confused, so unsure. Why was my body reacting like this when my mind screamed at me to stay afraid?

I knew the moment he held me that he sensed it, I don’t have a wolf. It was impossible to hide, and yet, he didn’t say anything. His expression remained cold, emotionless, as if my greatest shame was nothing to him.

Then, without a word about it, he turned and simply asked for me to follow him to the car. I wasn’t sure what he was thinking or feeling.
