ADRIENNE'S POV
"Over here" Nick says giving me his flirty smile.
I walk straight to him hiding the various thoughts going on inside my head. Just then I notice another figure seated directly opposite of him, head bent like he was going through his phone, a strawberry milkshake in front of him.
I grab a sit next to Nick, facing Alec as I place my lemon bag on the table. I haven't really been fashion conscious of recent because there are a lot of things on my mind lately.
"Alec has ordered his drink, so what would you like?" Nick asks still smiling at me. He was definitely in a great mood. I turn to snicker at Alec, who seems not notice my presence since my arrival.
"I'll take one Americano" I smile back at him.
As Nick stands up to leave, I face Alec and notice the seriousness on his face. He had the look of someone having a serious conversation or reading something really important. But all those thoughts disappeared the moment I heard the "jellilicious" candy crush often makes when you hit it big.
"Seriously, candy crush Alec? So why look so serious. Trying to impress me?" I ask obviously starting what I'm not sure would end well.
"Don't flatter yourself." He replies with his never ending but captivating British accent, as he looks up to lock those green eyes of his with mine.
"So Adrienne, how was history class" Nick ask as he settles down beside me holding one drip eye black coffee on his right hand and one Americano on his left.
"Horrific, the reason being in front of me" I answer with an exasperated tone as I sip in my drink.
"Alec what did you do this time around?" he asks smiling at the thought of it.
I turn to look at my biggest nightmare as he flashes a wide smile at Nick which was something I never expected.
"Well she couldn't handle my looks and kept trying to have a conversation with me, so our professor did his magic" Alec answers like he had the answer all planned in his head. Hell ya he did have the answers all planned.
"What the hell is wrong with you? I never even got an apology for me being sent out of the class in the first place" I answer frustrated.
"I was just trying to have a simple conversation with you. Who apologizes for such?" he replies rolling his eyes. He picks up the milkshake in his front and takes a sip while giving me a mischievous smile.
"I didn't come here for you."
I turn to face Nick and ask "I don't know if you could help me with a part-time job. I plan on moving out of where I'm staying."
"Why?" he asks surprisingly.
"Well, I live with Kate." I say dryly not wanting him to feel pity for me.
"Ohhhh"
I guess he grabbed the meaning of my tone. We're sure going to be great friends. I really hope so.
"And I don't want Kate to find out I'm moving until I've finally found somewhere to stay and a temporary job to support me for the main time."
"Why are you moving out. Aren't you friends or did something happen?" Nick asks, with concern in his eyes.
His curiosity gave me some sort of encouragement that there was still someone who care a little about me. I guess this thought should leave my head as we still barely know each other.
"Yes" I say in a low tone, lowering my eyes to my fingers, my face dry of emotion.
"Do you want to talk about it?"
He asks as he raises my jaw up to make eye contact with him.
Just then, my eyes turn to face Alec who seems to be watching us with full seriousness. I just couldn't seem to read whatever expression he had on his face.
"No. Maybe another time" I say turning away.
He did seem trustworthy, but like my mom would always say, never trust a guy. They sometimes use the trust you have to their own advantage.
"Another time it is" he says cheerfully trying to lighten the mood.
"So I have a suggestion but I don't know how this may sound to you." he starts.
"Spill it. I'm ready for anything Nick." I say totally ignoring Alec's burrowing gaze on me.
"Want to come over to my place?"
"What?" I ask, not sure how to reply.
"Well, I live in a building with lots of rooms and three hot dudes, I can do away with a room" he says like it's no big deal. "And to prevent you from saying no, we could come up with your rent, though that seems unnecessary to me" he finishes, leaving both me and Alec speechless at his sudden suggestion.
"So what do you say to it?" Nick asks further, when neither of us responds.
"Not a bad idea but...." I start still blank on what excuse to give him.
He cuts me off and quickly adds "you have your own room in the building Adrienne. I know it's not a great decision to you most especially because of Alec, but I promise you, he'll behave."
He sounded like my own handsome knight.
"Uhmmm..." I say pretending to be thinking. I mean this was definitely a great idea to me, or so I thought.
"So what do you say" he asks impatiently.
"Sounds okay" I say flashing him a deep smile showing my dimples.
His face brightens up immediately upon hearing my answer but dries up at my second statement.
"But..." I say turning to face the figure he had seemed to forget was in our presence.
"But what? Say it."
Then he follows my gaze to meet Alec's straight face.
"Alec?" We both say at the same time, I, not having a single idea what the hell was going on in his head.
ALEC'S POVTwo eyes stare at me hoping to get a reaction from the news Nick had just dropped. Nick knew better. Ever since my mom left when I was in eight grade, while Aiden was still in fifth grade, I hated the thought of having another woman around the house and so dad fired all the female employees and employed only male workers. When I finally moved out of the house to a new residence, where I and the guys stay, the only female employed, was madam Antoine, my nanny. And now, here I am facing two strange looks with eyes begging me to give permission to something I detest."What?" I ask when no one speaks up."Don't you want to be a hero to someone in need?"Nick finally speaks up, just that his statement totally contradicts my nature."I don't want to be a hero to a villain" I state firmly while trying to draw a line as I stare intently at the blue eyes o
ADRIENNE'S POVI got up as early as possible, not wanting to see Kathie before I left. I didnt like the idea of leaving while we were on bad terms, but I didnt know how else to break the ice between us. I headed straight to the bathroom, picked up my toothbrush and started brushing my teeth.I took a quick shower then walked out of the bathroom, with my hair wrapped in a towel and so also my body, with little drops of water still finding its way down my neckline, despite the towel I had on my hair.I had planned to look simple today, as always anyways. I put on black skinny jeans with a white crop top and wore my large red hoodie on top. I picked up my phone, grabbed my hand bag along with my box and headed downstairs. It was 7:47am already and I could bet Nick was nearby.I got outside and placed my box on the porch, deciding to wait there till he comes but then I felt like drinking something cold
ADRIENNE'S POVI enter the hallway creating a large distance between me and Nick who was apparently still at the parking lot. He obviously couldn't enter yet till the rest of his crew were around.I walk straight to my locker, keyed in my password before shoving my books into the locker. It was Friday and my first period always started with Literature. I loved literature but hated calculations. I never failed it, but still didn't pass it like my other subjects."Hey babe" Aileen greets me while resting on the locker next to mine. She looked stunning as ever. Her blonde curls bouncing behind her.It is really amazing how she still looks strong despite what Zack, her ex, did to her. It was the most miserable period of our lives; me, Kathie and Aileen. She was really broken after the breakup, but don't our pains make us stronger than we were before?"What about Kathie? Have you seen h
ADRIENNE'S POVIt was lunch period and I was at the cafeteria, seated with Kate and Aileen. Christian had also agreed with Kate to sit with us for lunch along with two other guys- his friends from the basketball team. Both guys were tall, one a black American and the other, a blonde with hazel eyes. They were good looking and Aileen seemed to have been smitten by them, as she kept smiling to everything they said like a possessed little girl.I had totally ignored my promise to meet with Alec after Literature class ended and as a result, I've been avoiding him all day but for how long. I just sat there, picking on my French fries as I try to pay attention to the discussion ongoing between Christian and Caleb, the black American. James, the blonde with really cute eyes performs a common trick in which he removed a coin from behind Aileen's ear."That's one lame trick" I say while laughing at his now
ADRIENNE'S POVI had Chemistry class next which luckily for me, both Aileen and Kate took too, the only twist being the fact that I was partnered with Aileen. And this always got Kate pouting, every time we had practical because she was paired with Emily, the captain of our swimming team, and as you know it, Christian's ex-girlfriend.We enter the chemistry lab and settle down, when I notice a familiar face. It was one of Alec's friend and beside him was the two time winning prom queen, Lexi.Well how did I know this when I just moved here you ask, Aileen feeds me with all the gossip I need to know. She never takes a break. We make eye contact for a brief moment before our teacher walked in."Is everything okay between you and Kate?" Aileen whispers in my ear.I knew she wasn't going to drop the issue until she had all the answers needed."I just feel I'm no longer welcomed there"
ADRIENNE'S POVI recognize the voice and spun around quickly."Jeez, not cool Alec" I say as a sense of relief rushes over me."Are you always this creepy?" I continue talking when he says nothing."Did I scare you?" He asks with a smile.Such an asshole."Who knew the great Alec could actually smile" I say not fighting back my already showing smile. We walk side by side towards the exit of the building not saying anything."So, do you always practice till late?" I ask breaking the silence."Most times, when I have to clear my head. I use it to escape from my world." He replies honestly. Now that went well. I was actually expecting one of his snarky comments."What's your world like?" I ask, my curiousness getting the better part of me."It's surrounded with lies and betrayal." He answers quietly. I turn m
ADIRENNE'S POVI was still staring at the hands stretched in front of me. I must have saved a generation in my past life, maybe that's why I've been meeting hot dudes these days.He was the same guy I saw during chemistry practical but looked a little different from earlier. Maybe this was as a result of the change in his clothes or the fact that I was staring at him from a closer point of view."You must be Adrienne, cappuccino girl right?" With that I come out of my imagination. He must have noticed how long I dazed off admiring his features, seeing the triumphant smirk on his face. Maybe he was no different from Alec. They were friends after all."Uhhm..." I say rubbing my hand at the back of my neck, getting a little nervous."So if you done checking me out, do you mind heading inside?" He smiles this time around.I turn around and press the doorbell not wantin
ADRIENNE'S POVIt was 6:00am in the morning, as I lay on my bed while staring at the ceiling lost in thought. It was the weekend and all I could think of was resting and spending all the time to myself but my plans just had to change.I had promised the girls to hang out with them and at the same time, Derek chose my Saturday as the day I get to live as he wishes. And here I am, staring at the ceiling trying to comprehend how this day was going to play out.I finally decide to head for the kitchen and grab some bottle of water to store in my room as I often get dehydrated. It was still early so there being less kitchen staffs there when I arrived. I open the fridge I was directed to and grab about four bottles when I hear a low huff behind me.I turn around to find Derek dressed in grey joggers with a black sleeveless top, showing off his muscles. He had a gray hand band on his left hand and his jet-blac
ADRIENNE'S POV"Are you guys being serious right now?" Alec says as he stares at all four of us with dread in his green eyes.I looked breathtaking in the sexy black tulle plunging neckline open back dress I had on which looked simple but still perfect in my eyes. The slit on one side of the gow
ADRIENNE’S POV“How are things with Alec?” Aileen asks as we both exit the schools building. Kathie had gotten a ride home with Christian and that left only me and Aileen.Quite a number of students were still hanging around schoo
ADRIENNE’S POVThe look of realization dawns on both their faces. Before Derek could speak up, the bell for next period sounds.“I’ll explain it to you during lunch,” Derek says with an assuring tone as we walk to our next c
ADRIENNE’S POVThe way his eyes twitched at the mention of her name told me it was a name he was well familiar with but why was he lying? The only explanation to this was the fact that there was something he desperately wanted to keep hidden.
ADRIENNE’S POV“What do you want?” I ask hoping this wasn’t going to be as serious as it looked to be. I still didn’t understand the reason they approached Aileen and I or what they had to do with Alec.I try to breath
ADRIENNE’S POVI approach Liam and place my handkerchief in his left hands to use and clean himself up.“This is so embarrassing,” Liam says a litle under his breath as he turns around to clean the sticky milkshake on his face and
ADRIENNE’S POVJustin looked a little taken aback as he didn’t actually expect what I said earlier to be true. He turns to face me and try to get a confirmation but I just shrug in return. He stands up looking a little bit intimidated a
ADRIENNE’S POVI woke up to a loud sound ringing inside my head. I start by opening my eyes slowly but immediately shut it due to the bright ray of light tha eflected into it. After some seconds later I finally opened it and welcomed the morning sun. Just who left the curtains opened?
ADRIENNE’S POVI open my eyes slowly as I could already feel everyone’s gaze burning holes through my skin. If i were in their shoes, i would do the same thing.“What the hell are you talking about?” Aileen ask, obviously lost, but I was in no position to answer as my hea
