Chapter 2

Author: Sweet Cotton Candy
Nancy's expression shifted. She hastily said, "I don't need that!"

She knew carrying her was something Hansen could do, but she didn't want him to so much as touch her right now. She backed away at that thought.

Disappointment flashed across Hansen's face. He thought she was still mad over what had happened last night. "Alright, then. I'll wait for you downstairs."

Once he was gone, Nancy clenched her fists tightly while telling herself she had to tolerate this. She just needed to wait a little longer—she could leave in 15 days once everything was erased.

Before then, she didn't want anything to go wrong. After all, she wouldn't be able to leave if Hansen insisted on keeping her in Jarton City.

She took a deep breath at that thought and freshened up before leaving the room. However, before she got to the living room, she heard Hansen's charming voice ring out. "Stop that. I don't have time to be with you today."

A coquettish and displeased voice came from the other end of the line. "Hanny, last night you promised you would give all your time to me in the future."

Nancy froze. She started trembling uncontrollably when she realized what was happening, and her blood ran cold. She stared at Hansen as he stood in the living room, feeling like she'd been stabbed in the heart.

Despite already knowing that he was cheating, she still couldn't help feeling heartbroken when hearing him in action.

"That's enough." Hansen's voice was still as charming as ever, but his gaze turned somewhat cold. "Isn't the gift I gave you this morning enough to make up for this?"

Hannah knew where to draw the line when she heard the displeasure in his tone. "Of course, it is. You treat me so well, Hanny! I love you."

She knew what Hansen was like. If she continued pestering him, he would kick her to the curb.

Hansen hung up then. At the same time, Nancy staggered backward to hide in a corner. She looked lost, and her vision was blurry. It took a while for her to force herself to calm down and step forward.

Hansen immediately held her hand and noticed her pale complexion. "Are you coming down with something, Nance? You look so pale."

He reached out to feel her forehead, but she dodged him. "I'm fine."

He got the wrong idea when he saw how reluctant she was to come into contact with him. He sighed and said, "I promise I won't miss any more anniversaries, Nance. I won't be dumb enough to do something like this to piss you off again."

Nancy looked into his eyes. Then, she laughed. "What should I do if you betray me, lie to me, and even kick me to the curb?"

Hansen froze. He didn't know why, but his heart sank when he looked into her distant eyes. It was almost as if she'd discovered something.

He soon calmed down, though. He said indifferently, "You can stab me with a knife, then! Leaving me is not an option. Besides, I wouldn't do anything like that. You know how much I adore you, Nance. How could I not want you? I have to thank my lucky stars that you're not abandoning me."

His gaze turned stubborn. "You'll be mine forever, Nance. I'll be with you wherever you go; I would've thought my hundred proposals would be enough to show you my determination."

Nancy fell silent. Of course, she could tell how determined he was to keep her with him. That was why she had to pull something as extreme as erasing all her information when she wanted to end things. Knowing him, he wouldn't let her go otherwise.

Hansen played with her fingers with a smile as he said, "Don't let those thoughts crowd your mind, Nance. Let's go to the amusement park."

He wrapped an arm around her and pulled her out of the house. They arrived at the amusement park half an hour later.

Once Hansen pulled Nancy inside, an MPV pulled up. A woman in a red dress got out and stared in the direction the former two had gone. A mocking expression twisted her face.

The person in charge of the amusement park ran to her. "You're finally here, Ms. Sullivan! Everything is ready and waiting for you!"

Hansen held Nancy's hand as they went on all the rides in the amusement park, from the carousel to bumper cars and onto the pirate ship. They soon enjoyed most of the rides and reached their last one.

When they were done, Hansen let go of Nancy and came back a few minutes later with pink cotton candy in the shape of a heart.

"Forgive me for missing last night, Nance. You know my heart will always be yours! I swear to God I mean that!" He got down on one knee after saying that.

They were both good-looking, so many people had already been sneaking looks at them. With Hansen's grand gesture, everyone's attention was instantly piqued. Some people even recognized Hansen.

"That's Mr. and Mrs. Holland! God, what is this beautiful scene?"

"Mr. Holland is a whipped man, isn't he? Forgive him, Mrs. Holland!"

Nancy listened to the comments around before looking back at Hansen, who looked at her with love-filled eyes. It seemed he would remain on his knees until she forgave him.

She swiped the cotton candy from him angrily. "Let's go."

She didn't want to keep this act going any longer. His shamelessness made her stomach turn.

Hansen watched her leave and ran after her. His gaze was indulgent and doting.

They went to a restaurant, where he handed her a steak that he'd already sliced. "We agreed on this, Nance. You can't be mad at me now that you've accepted the cotton candy."

"…Let's eat. I'm hungry." Nancy lowered her head and started eating. She wasn't hungry at all—she was only eating because she didn't want to talk to Hansen.

When she was done eating, she looked up to see that Hansen had barely touched his food. He kept fiddling with his phone. His eyes held a mischievous and possessive gleam that couldn't be concealed. Even his lips were curved into a smirk.

Nancy had seen that look on his face countless times—it was one he had when he looked at someone he liked. In the past, that look had belonged to only her. Now, he was giving another woman that same look.

Before she could tell herself to calm down, she saw from her angle the flash of a special effect on Hansen's phone. Something occurred to her, and she shot to her feet, deliberately making some noise.

Hansen didn't even look up, though.

She said, "I'm going to the restroom."

"Okay," he said absent-mindedly.

Nancy lapsed into silence. Any other time, he would've followed her like a puppy. Now, however, he couldn't take his eyes off his phone screen.

She clenched her fists tightly and stared at him for a few seconds before turning and heading to the restroom. At the same time, she prodded on her phone.

As expected, Hannah had started a live stream!

As soon as Nancy entered it, she saw Hannah standing in the center of the amusement park with a group of people circling her. She looked as smug as could be.

"I'm sure some of you geniuses already know why I'm at this amusement park today—it's because my boyfriend gave it to me!"

How can someone just gift an amusement park like that?""She also said her mysterious boyfriend gave her Luscombe Manor, but she couldn't show us the deed. I bet even this boyfriend is fake!"Hannah looked aggrieved. "Why don't you guys believe me?"She pulled two property deeds from her bag. "This is the property deed for this amusement park, and this is for Luscombe Manor. Why would I lie about these things? My boyfriend loves me to bits!"The amusement park couldn't compare to Luscombe Manor in terms of value—the manor was worth at least 500 million dollars.Hannah's fans went mad again while Nancy remained frozen. Hansen had given Luscombe Manor, which Nancy had been eyeing for a long time, to Hanna

She felt panicked on the inside but didn't let it show. Instead, she said, "Don't change the subject because of a scam call, Hansen. How did you know about me selling 'Only One' and the wedding ring? Did you go to the Anhall Charity Auction?"The call disconnected as soon as the words were out of her mouth.Hansen couldn't care less about who had called Nancy when he heard that. His expression took on a hint of awkwardness and diffidence. Take the call!"Hansen's eyes darkened when he saw her reaction. The desire in his eyes quickly faded. However, a strange wave of frustration washed over him. His expression darkened as he answered the phone. "Spill it!"There was a brief pause before the person on the other end chuckled. "Damn, Hansen, what's with the attitude? Got into a fight with Nancy? Come on, bring her out! We're all waiting for you at the usual spot!"That was Nigel Zoeller's voice.Nancy knew Nigel was Hansen's childhood sidekick, and she quietly pressed her lips together. A subtle wave of relief washed over her."I'm not going," Hansen said flatly, glancing at Nancy on purpose. "I pissed Nance off. She's not coming out wi

He spat, "What? Are you planning to steal her from me now that I'm into this one in my lap, Gavin? Go ahead. Someone else already defiled Nancy anyway—I haven't even laid a hand on her."Nancy's eyes widened in shock as his words ripped through her like shards of glass. It felt like her whole body had been plunged into a freezing pit, and even her breath caught in her throat. She had known Hansen didn't really love her anymore, but she never imagined he would drag her deepest pain and fear into the light like that—especially not in front of everyone. After all, that pain and fear represented the humiliation she had suffered during her childhood. Her eyes turned red, brimming with unshed tears, as she stared at Hansen's once-handsome face, which was now laced with disdain. Her chest ached l

"Would you marry me then, Gavin?""As long as you give me the chance!" Gavin answered instantly. His eyes lit up, though his face stayed serious and steady."Cece, I met you first. I was planning to confess to you back in college... I just didn't get the timing right. But it's not too late. I swear, I'd never hurt you."Nancy retorted, "Really? Hansen broke his promise, so what makes you think you won't?"She grabbed Gavin's wrist and yanked his hand away once again before snapping, "You think you're the picture of loyalty, don't you? But if you really loved me, you would've confessed to me back in college."Let's be real—you chose to weigh the pros and cons more, meaning you care about yourself more than me."That was why Gavin should

Hannah was actually pregnant.Nancy had already suspected this day would come, but seeing it happen still crushed her. It was as if he was terrified something might happen to her.Hannah said with a smile, "Hanny, don't be so nervous. I'm not that fragile, you know..."But Hansen immediately snapped, "What do you mean you're not fragile? You're carrying my baby."Hearing that, Hannah's face lit up with a sweet, giddy smile she could not hide. She was just about to say something else when her gaze landed on someone nearby—and her expression instantly changed."Mrs. Holland? What are you doing here?" she asked.Hansen followed her line of sight. There stood Nancy—pale as a ghost. H

If my father hadn't told me to keep things low-key, I would've lit up the whole sky with fireworks tonight. But don't worry—I'll make it up to you one day. I'll show you how romantic I can be."And now, the grand gesture he once promised her had been given to Hannah.Nancy's lips curled into a bitter smile, though she did not know whether she was mocking herself or Hansen more.Gavin looked at her. Even if someone gave him ten lives, he'd never have dared to tell Nancy about that.Nancy saw his reaction and coldly interrupted, "I just happened to pass by. If I hadn't, I wouldn't have even known that you ended up here because you got into a fight for Ms. Sullivan."So it was true.
