Chapter 70

When they finally reached the front of the line, Nicholas helped Sarah into the carriage, and they settled in for the ride. As the Ferris wheel began to turn, Sarah squealed with delight, her eyes shining with joy.

Nicholas laughed and put his arm around her, holding her close as they rose higher and higher into the air. From the top, they could see the entire carnival spread out before them, a colorful tapestry of lights and sounds.

As they descended, Sarah turned to Nicholas with a mischievous glint in her eye. "Next, I want to try the ring toss," she said, her voice full of determination.

Nicholas grinned. "You're on. But if you win, I get to pick the next activity."

Sarah nodded, her ponytail bobbing up and down. "Deal!"

As they walked away from the Ferris wheel, Nicholas realized that he was having more fun than he had in years. Being with Sarah brought out a side of him that he thought he'd lost long ago.
