Chapter 11 - Marry Me

last update Last Updated: 2023-05-20 16:07:08

Gray piercing eyes captivated me.

As if he had taken me into a different world where we were the only people who existed.

He lifted his hands and used the pad of his thumb to brush my lower lip.

"You are so beautiful," he said with a hoarse voice.

He slid his hand on my neck and slid up to the back of my head.

"Mr. President, General Rossini is here," a voice came from the outside.

That voice seemed to destroy the world we were in and brought us back to reality.

Embarrassed, I stood up and straightened my clothes and then I propped him up with pillows on his back so he could sit comfortably.

General Rossini gave me a look as if he already guessed what had occurred a while ago.

I hurriedly took my leave after greeting him.

My heart beat only came back to normal after I had drank cold water.

Did he want to kiss me?

Impossible. He wouldn't take interest in me.

I don't know if I was right. Or I was just over thinking.

I'm not his type. The woman I saw in his room that night was sophisticated and alluring.

Compared to that woman, I was nothing.

He would possibly be interested in his personal assistant rather than to fancy me.

I shook my head and smiled bitterly.

My fiancé who was an ordinary man left me because I wasn't fascinating enough.

How could the president fancy someone like me?

Ever since what happened, I became extra careful.

We didn't talk about it and acted as if nothing happened.

We parted ways. He went back to the presidential palace in the capital and I, on the other hand, reported to the military base in western border.

Days went by in the twinkling of an eye and two weeks quickly passed.

Unable to turn down General Rossini, I accompanied him to General Barkle's birthday party.

An important person as General Rossini, there will be people who would want to talk with him. So, I couldn't say that I would stick by his side all through the party.

Good thing that Major Kavanaugh was also there so I didn't have to worry about having no acquaintances at the party.

The party was in the full swing when the emcee announced the arrival of the president.

We, the uniformed people, gave the president a salute.

What had happened that day came into my mind when our eyes met.

My heart crazily beat inside my chest.

The Generals started to flock towards him.

A gust of indescribable feeling flurried in my heart as I caught sight of the beautiful lady beside him, his personal assistant.

Her eyes shimmered with admiration as they looked at him while he talked.

I looked away as uneasiness crowded my chest. And I went to the corner while I sip on my non alcoholic drink and enjoyed the soft background music.

Major Kavanaugh was pulled by one of our comrades from another division and reluctantly left me.

I looked up as I felt someone was staring at me.

The president was facing my direction but he was not looking at me.

His eyes were trained on the woman beside him while she was saying something.

I shook my head and I discarded the thought that he was looking at me.

That was just a figment of my imagination. No one was looking at me.

"Tara?" I heard a familiar voice calling my name and turned towards the voice.

"Johann!" My eyes lit up seeing the man who called me.

He was my classmate and friend in medical school but when Roman got jealous of him, I avoided him.

"How are you?" He asked with a wide smile.

Johann was a handsome guy.

He was not only a handsome man but an intelligent one.

That was the reason for Roman's insecurity towards this man.

We were chatting happily and I felt an intense gaze directed at me. But I didn't mind it.

After a while, General Rossini approached us.

"Captain Smith," I turned to look at him.

"General?"

"Gentleman, please excuse Captain Smith. I have an important matter to discuss with her," he started to walk after that.

I looked at Johann apologetically and he nodded in understanding.

I followed General Rossini along the corridor.

He stopped and looked back to see if I was following him.

After a while he stopped and opened the door.

I followed behind him and I was surprised to see the president sitting on the couch yet I didn't show any emotion on my face.

"Good evening, Mr. President," I greeted him.

My heart beat escalated as General Rossini approached the door to leave.

I wanted to tell General to stay but my throat felt dry and I couldn't speak.

I remain standing and the president said, "Those who aren't close to me are the ones who are told to seat "

He was implying that we have a close relationship. When did we start having a close relationship?

I sat not wanting to invite the wrath of the president as I don't know how he would vent his anger on me.

I'd rather not poke a hornets nest.

No one said a word for a long time and we only stared at each other, waiting who would start the conversation.

The silence inside the room rose to a palpable degree that could suffocate.

I was compelled to break the uncanny silence between us. "How are you, Mr. President?"

"Why didn't you approach me when you saw me?" Astonished, it took all of me not to laugh at his question.

This was the reason he called me here?

I wanted to burst into laughter. However, this is the president I am talking with.

"Is a mere captain allowed to mingle with the president?" If he wasn't injured I wouldn't have the chance to talk to him.

It just so happened that General Rossini trusted me that I even had the chance to look after the president.

The president took a deep breath and his face was gloomy.

"I am sorry Mr. President, I know my place and I can't be insolent and just approach you anytime and anywhere I want," I explained.

Those times I looked after him didn't make me assume that I have the right to approach him wherever or whenever I wanted. I'm not a pretentious woman, I always knew where I belonged.

He stood up and faced the French window. "My dietitian is about to retire, take his position."

This man is demanding. He didn't even ask my opinion. He's so imposing.

Somehow irritation rose from the depths of my stomach.

"I can't, Mr. President, I'm sorry," he was silent and he thrust his hands in his trousers pocket.

Another minute of silence ruled. Then he turned to face me.

"If you don't want that position, then marry me. That position is better."

Andrea Wilkin’s POV The garden was filled with laughter as my kids, my siblings' kids and cousins' kids were running about the garden. Today is my dad’s sixtieth birthday. My siblings and I organized this surprise birthday party for him. “Are they coming?” My brother Austin asked while cradling his third child. “Yes, mom sent me a text an hour ago that they’re preparing,” I replied. “Kirsten is blessed to have you, Austin,” I said, smiling. Austin and Nicholas are like our dad, they are hands on dad. My phone rang as Austin was about to respond. Before I answered the call, I signaled at everyone to keep quiet and they cooperated, not wanting to ruin the surprise. “Mom?” I whispered. “Andrea, your dad is asking me where we are going and the reason we are going out. What should I tell him?” I chuckled. It’s really hard for mom because dad could see through her. It’s really hard to surprise him. “Just tell him that you wanted to have a date with him,” I suggested.

“Congratulations!” Evan gave me a manly tap on the shoulder. Tara had just finished feeding our baby and laid her on the baby cot when he and Trixie came in. “Oh, so beautiful,” Trixie cooed. “What is her name?” Evan asked while looking at my sleeping daughter. “Andrea,” Tara answered and I looked at her in surprise. “You don’t like it?” she squinted her eyes. “I’m happy, babe,” I hugged her, smiling from ear to ear. Naming our daughter after my name was one of her ways of showing how much she loves me. This woman truly amazes me. Despite all the pain she has gone through since we got married she always finds ways to express her love for me. She loves me no matter what. ***The following day, the DNA test result was out. The result has proven that Tara was the great granddaughter of Marcus Reinsterd the Duke of Clorgow. Tara’s grandfather released a statement that Tara is his great granddaughter, the daughter of his grandson the son of his son, Lincoln. In his statement, t

  • Forever Mine: The President's Secret Little Wife    Chapter 128 - A Cat on a Tin Roof

I was like a cat on a tin roof waiting for my “great grandpa” which I was going to meet for the first time. “Don’t be nervous, babe. They can’t hurt you,” Andrei reassured me as he kissed the crown of my head and stroked my large belly. “Dad and mom, will be here, shortly,” as soon as he said that we heard hurried steps coming from the entrance of the mansion. Suzanna smiled at me reassuringly as she walked towards us. “All will be fine, darling,” Suzanna said as she stroked my back. Trevor layed a box and a file on the coffee table before me.“The box was what your grandma left for your father, while the file was your father's legal documents.” I looked up at Andrei and his smile gave me the needed strength for me to look into the box. One by one, I took out the content of the box. I took out the diary and read it. March 5[I was disowned and disinherited by my family because I chose to marry Lincoln Reinsterd. But it was worthwhile because we love each other.]June 1[All of

While I was brooding, the door burst open and I saw Courtney come in while the bodyguard was restraining her. I waved my hand, “Let her be.” “What are you doing here?” I tried not to let my annoyance seep through my voice. This woman saved me after all. “Mr. Hendrick, your surgeon is my friend and he discussed your leg injury with me.”“And?” I frowned. What does she have to do with my injury? “You didn’t look at the card I gave you?” she asked and her eyes darted at the side table. “I’m a physiotherapist,” she went on. She explained to me that I will have a greater chance to walk again if I undergo therapy. Tara’ POV“You can visit me, mom,” I told mom as she was crying when we were left alone in the room. She nodded and wiped her face with her handkerchief. “You take care of yourself, okay,” she said and kissed my forehead. “I will,” I said and we hugged for I don’t know how long. My brothers were in the living room looking solemn as they stood before the grand piano.

Jordan was at the door. “We are all waiting for you at the dining room,” he said and gave me a mischievous grin. I forgot, it’s Saturday today. When I came to Astrana, we all gathered together at the dining table at lunch time on Saturdays. Jordan was right as everybody was seated on their chair at the dining table when we came down. “Sorry for making you wait,” I said as Andrei drew a seat for me. “It’s alright,” Trevor answered, smiling at me. The sparkle in his eyes was more brilliant at this time. Is this because he was seeing his best friend in me? Suzanna told me that my biological dad was his best friend. One by one I looked at the faces of people I love as we were having lunch. My heart was filled with gratitude that I was blessed by God to have been surrounded by people I love and love me too. ***The day before we were leaving, I was hugging Andrei from behind as he was shaving his face. “Babe, we are leaving tomorrow night and I haven’t visited Hendrick in the hosp

  • Forever Mine: The President's Secret Little Wife    Chapter 125 - Are You the Girlfriend?

I used my eyes to plead to Andrei and let me go to the hospital. Yes, I don’t see Hendrick as a lover, but he is my friend and I can’t just ignore him knowing that he is now in the hospital. “Let’s go,” Andrei said and I was relieved. I hugged him and said, “Thank you, babe.” “Get Johnny to drive for you,” mom said. Andrei embraced me as we traveled as I was tense. “Don’t get agitated. Think about our child.” “Mm,” I nodded and silently prayed that Hedrick would be fine and the surgery would go well. There was a woman who was waiting in the corridor in front of the surgery room. She might have heard our hurried steps and turned toward us. I was stunned as she was beautiful. My heart suddenly leaped with excitement. Finally, the one for Hendrick showed up. “Are you the girlfriend?” she asked when I was near her. Andrei slid his arm around my waist, silently telling her that she’s got it wrong.“I’m sorry, I thought you were because he has been calling your name. So I called
