"I have to hurry back to Pack's house to meet Sam and the others," Val said to us then he turned to Zaya who was still in his arms, her emerald green eyes softened as they met her dead face. "I will be right back."

Zaya nodded her head even though her face looked unwilling. "Be careful, Val."

Val kissed her forehead briefly before letting go of the hug. "Of course, honey," he replied with a half smile that made his dark fierce face look even more handsome.

'Calum has picked me up at the front, I have to get out before he starts nagging again."

Val gave a curt nod to Balthazar and me, then he exited through his front door.
