Alex only returned around midnight. I couldn't sleep since earlier, so I just lay down staring at the bedroom window which was still slightly open. It had been raining since the afternoon but had now turned to a light drizzle. A cold wind that feels piercing and fresh enters between the gaps in the slightly open window. I love the wet smell of rain, especially rain at night.

I lay with my back to Alex when he came into the room. He went straight to the bathroom without making a sound and then came out again about fifteen minutes later. Alex immediately joined me under the covers, his big and warm body hugging me from behind. The scent of the soap faintly wafted from him. The mark at the base of my neck throbbed again when our bodies touched.

"Still not sleeping?" he whispered from behind me, his voice sounding tired. I shook my head looking out the window and the pitch darkness beyond. Alex kissed my shoulder from behind and sighed.
