I started to chop the vegetables, and Layla stayed back, watching me. I passed the chopped vegetables when I was done and waited till she was done.

Take yours first”, Layla said, handing the food over to me.
“What about Violet’s food?” I asked
“This is it with me”, Ethan replied, showing me the plate.
I remembered that Layla had not eaten that morning.
“What about yours?” I asked, and Layla pointed to the extra sandwich on another plate.
“Alright, I’ll help you take Violet’s food to her”, I volunteered, and Layla carried my plate following me.
