Chapter Six: Gideon?!

Bianca’s POV

"Babe, what's the matter? My brother is in the sitting room" Gideon informed and walked toward the vanity.

"Baby, em... Nothing is wrong. I'm just feeling a bit sick, and I wanted him to help me with water." I lied

"Ohh okay baby," He said and moved closer to the bed, he kissed my forehead and said,

"Charles told me that you've been sleeping all day; I hope you're feeling better now, honey, or should we visit the hospital?"

"No baby, I'm fine" I responded. I felt really bad for what I did before he came. Luckily, he didn't come home to see me in bed with Charles, we could have been having a different conversation now if that was the case.

I stood from the bed, feeling sore between my legs. Well done, Charles" I thought and walked into the bathroom.

"Sweetheart, are you okay? If you want, I can prepare a bath for you and bath you myself too" Gideon said, sending butterflies into my stomach but that feeling was immediately replaced the moment I thought about Charles.

"Em... No honey, I'm fine" I said causing him to haze at me for about four seconds before saying,

"Hmmm, if you say so".

I got into the bathroom and gently closed the door behind me, resting my back on the door; I thought, "How long will I be able to do things? I need to make sure Charles gets better soon and leaves this house,e" I thought and sighed.

I turned on the shower and let it run, falling on the floor without getting into the shower.

After a few minutes, I washed my face. I was sure that I could go to the sitting room now and act normal in front of Charles. Gideon was no longer in the room by the time I finished in the shower.

I changed into a green gown and packed my hair into a ponytail before leaving the room.

"Baby, is that you?" I heard Gideon's voice from the dining room. He must have heard my footsteps approach them.

"Yes baby," I responded as the aroma of the food went into my nose, with a smile on my face I asked,

"Woah honey, are you making my favorite?"

"Sweetheart, I was telling Charles that this food is your favorite, I came downstairs to see that he was cooking, even when he can't walk well except with the aid of crutches," Gideon said.

As I turned to see Charles turning the food on fire with a sky smile on his lips, the smile on my face instantly disappeared.

"Oh, that's thoughtful of him," I said and sat next to Gideon on the kitchen counter.

"Baby, give me a few minutes, I'll be down before dinner is ready," He said and peaked my forehead.

"Oh, I should come with you," I said, not wanting to spend one minute with Charles alone. The tension between us was awkward, and I was trying all possible means to avoid him.

"Oh no, baby, stay with my brother and give him a hand." He said, causing me to cuss inwardly.

"But honey, he's doing just fine. I'm sure he doesn't need help," she said, causing Charles to cough, almost choking after hearing her words.

"Are you okay, Charles?" Gideon hurried to his side,

"Babe, please give me water," Gideon said. I knew that Charles was pretending, but I didn't want my husband to see me as a bad wife so I pretended to care.

"Okay, baby," I said and hurried to the fridge; I opened a bottle of water and poured it into a glass cup before passing it to Gideon. Charles gulped down the water, pretending that he was thirsty.

Charles calmed down a bit; he then said, "I'm sorry for worrying you both." I narrowed my eyes.

"Babe, you see what I'm talking about. You have to stay with him, okay?" He said, causing me to sigh. This was exactly what Charles wanted, and now Gideon wants her to stay with Charles.

"Okay," I said, having no choice but to oblige. If Charles wanted me to argue with my husband because of him, then not in his wildest dream would I let that happen.

"Thanks, babe," Gideon said and kissed my cheek before briskly walking to the stairs. The moment he was out of sight, Charles smirked and mimicked Gideon's words, "Thanks babe.” He then started laughing, causing my blood to boil.

"What exactly is funny?" I asked, lowering my voice.

"Since you care to know, well, if I hadn't stood up from the bed on time. We would have both been caught in the act," He said, causing me to swallow hard.

"You don't have to keep mentioning it. He's in the house now and even the walls have ears," I said, looking left and right.

"I know, right," He said and left his crutches by the table and walked to take salt from the cupboard.

"Wait, what?" I rubbed my eyes to make sure that I was seeing right.

"What's surprising? How do you think I can do so much work in bed with a broken leg?" He asked, arching his brows.

"So you've been pretending. Did you get involved in an accident?" I asked, my curiosity taking over.

"I didn't fake the accident but fortunately, I healed quickly. It was nothing that serious," He said, causing me to nod my head.

"Ok! Ok! So when are you leaving?" I asked, not willing to see him for another second.

"Oh, relax, baby girl! I'm staying here for the longest time. As far as my brother knows, I'm crippled, and my medicines are gradually working," Charles said, causing me to frown.

"Wait what?"

"You heard me right, love," He said, causing me to shake my head in disagreement.

"You think I'll let that happen? I'll surely tell my husband, you better tell him about it or I'll do," I threatened, believing that I have the upper hand now.

"Hear yourself, love. Are you chasing me away from my brother's house?" He paused and kept back the salt where he took it from.

He smiled mischievously and moved closer to me before continuing, "Rushing to tell my brother that I'm well? He won't ask me to leave. But note that the moment you do, our secret will fall into his ear too".

"What secret?" Gideon's voice instantly startled me.
