To make it even better Lukkar had his hand linked with mine as we walked out of the Coalfyre’s stately manor. I had a small smile on my face, happy and totally pleased with the way my mate stood by my side even though I was sure he did not totally understand the reason for my discomfort. But frankly I just could not bare being in another mansion that did not have my mother in it.

I tucked myself in the backseat of the limo, holding my knees to my chest and Lukkar said nothing when the car started to move. I expected him to be his silly self and tickle or tease me but he only glanced at me from time to time.

I did not want to be in the Coalfyre’s mansion, but neither did I want to be in Lukkar’s castle, at least not at the moment. I needed some time to think, some time breathe and live in my own mind space.

“If you’re still hungry we could—”
