Lyanna’s POV

The quiet hum of magic surrounded me as I sat by Sophia’s bedside, watching her chest rise and fall in slow, shallow breaths. The lightening of the room was dim and I was very exhausted, but I couldn’t leave her side. Not now.

Sophia had been through hell, and though her physical wounds were healing, there was a darkness that clung to her spirit. I could sense it in the way her aura flickered, unstable and bruised. I had done everything I could to stabilize her, but the damage inflicted by her captors went deeper than mere flesh. It was as if they had tried to break her from the inside out.

But there was something else, something I hadn’t noticed before. A faint scent lingered in the air, just barely detectable over the usual metallic tang of blood and the earthy smell of herbs. It was… different. New. I frowned, my senses sharpening as I inhaled again, trying to pinpoint it.

What is that? It wasn’t anything I’d smelled on her before, nor did it belong to the werewolv

133Ian’s POVI sat in my office, the cold stone walls of the vampire realm closing in on me. The thought of everything that had happened was heavy on my mind, making it hard to focus. Sophia was still recovering, and the search for her had left me ragged. My body had healed from the werewolf attack, but my mind hadn’t. I couldn’t stop seeing her—bloodied, broken, almost dead. The rage I had unleashed on her captors hadn’t been enough. Nothing would ever be enough.A soft knock at the door pulled me from my thoughts. I straightened, sensing Lyanna’s presence even before she stepped into the room.“Lyanna,” I said, trying to mask my exhaustion. “What is it?”She hesitated, which wasn’t like her. Normally, she’d stride in with her usual confidence, ready to drop whatever cryptic knowledge she had in store. But this time, something was different. There was an intensity in her eyes that made my stomach clench.“We need to talk, Ian,” she said softly, closing the door behind her. She didn’

134Sophia’s POVI blinked my eyes open, my body feeling like it had been weighed down by a mountain. Every limb was heavy, every muscle sore. The dim light in the room flickered as I adjusted to being awake, but I wasn’t fully there yet. My mind felt foggy, the remnants of whatever drug or spell they’d used still lingering in my system. The last thing I remembered was being trapped, tortured—my captors moving me from place to place. And then… nothing. Just pain, exhaustion, and darkness.“Ian?” My voice came out as a weak rasp, but I felt his presence before I even saw him. He was by my side in an instant, his warm hand wrapping around mine.“Sophia,” he breathed, his voice thick with emotion. “You’re awake.”I tried to sit up, but my body protested. I settled for squeezing his hand instead, taking comfort in his touch. He was here. I was safe.“How long…?” I started to ask, but Ian shook his head, his thumb brushing over my knuckles.“Don’t worry about that now,” he said gently, his

135Jenny’s POVThe moment I heard about Sophia’s pregnancy, my heart twisted with a strange mix of emotions. I should’ve felt nothing but excitement—after all, she was my best friend, and this was huge news. But as soon as the words reached my ears, my mind spiraled into a dark place I wasn’t prepared for.Sophia. Pregnant.I didn’t even know that was possible for vampires like us. I thought once you were turned, that part of you was… gone. Unless it was one of those vampires girls from their strong vampire lineage. At least, that’s what I had assumed. Yet here she was, carrying a child. And not just any child—this was Ian’s. Their connection was already deeper than anything I could imagine, but now, they were going to be parents.I should’ve been happy for her. And I was, really. But at the same time, something gnawed at me, something I didn’t want to admit even to myself. The more I thought about it, the more the doubt crept in, cold and insistent.Would Jacob want that too? 136Jacob’s POVSophia’s recovery has been slow, but it’s happening, and I can’t help feeling a little… giddy, maybe? I’d never thought about being an uncle, and now, with Sophia’s pregnancy, everything feels new, a little different, like we’re heading into uncharted territory.Ian’s got his usual stoic, serious face, but I can tell he’s trying to hold it together. It’s not like him to show emotion, but this? This has rattled even him. Every time I see him glance at Sophia, it’s like he’s thinking, This wasn’t supposed to happen, but I can see a hint of something else in his eyes—pride maybe? Hope? Who knows with him?Me, though? I’m straight-up excited. Yeah, the whole situation is complicated beyond reason. But hey, life’s always been complicated for us vampires. There’s something refreshing about focusing on something other than the usual doom and gloom. And a baby? That’s something different, something worth getting worked up about.I walk into the room where Sophia’s resting. She

137Ian’s POVGetting Sophia out of the vampire realm was no easy job, but we did it. Jacob, Jenny, Lyanna, and I worked together as hard and sleek as we could, making sure no one saw us leave. We had to be quiet, subtle, and quick. The council would find out eventually, but by then, it wouldn’t matter. I just needed to get her out of there—away from the politics, away from the dangers lurking at every corner. Her pregnancy had changed everything. Now, we were back at my condo in the human world. It felt surreal, like stepping into another life. The familiar surroundings were almost comforting—the sleek, modern furniture, the quiet hum of the city outside. It was a world that had always felt like a safe space, a place where I could just be Ian Grant, the professor, not the vampire king.I watched as Sophia sank into the couch, visibly relieved. She looked exhausted, and for good reason. The toll of everything—the captivity, the pregnancy, the uncertainty—it weighed heavily on her. Her

138Sophia’s POVAs I sat on the couch in Ian’s condo, my hand instinctively moved to my stomach. The warmth of my palm against my abdomen was comforting, but it didn’t soothe the storm of thoughts raging in my mind. The news of the castle’s attack still echoed, and all I could think about was the little life growing inside me. A baby—our—baby. And in this dangerous world, what kind of life would they have?Would they ever be safe? Would we?I let out a shaky breath and glanced over at Ian, who was standing by the window, his back tense as he stared out into the city. He looked like he was ready to wage a war, his jaw clenched, his hands balled into fists. I knew him well enough by now to understand he was keeping it together for me. But I could see the cracks. The fear he didn’t want to show me was there, lingering beneath the surface.“Ian?” I called softly, my voice barely above a whisper. He turned immediately, his dark eyes locking onto mine. “What is it?”I hesitated for a momen

139Ian’s POV I stepped into the portal that would take me back to the vampire realm, my mind spinning with the weight of what we had just learned. The attack on the castle was worse than any of us could have anticipated. I had known the realm was in danger, but seeing the full extent of the destruction still caught me off guard. The weight of responsibility, of protecting not just Sophia and our unborn child but also my kingdom, pressed down on me like a suffocating fog.The moment I stepped out into the realm, I could feel it. The air was heavy with the scent of blood and smoke, the remnants of a battle that had clearly left its mark. The sky above was dark, streaked with angry clouds that blocked out the usual silver glow of the moon. The castle stood in the distance, but it was no longer the majestic fortress it once was. Parts of it were crumbling, sections blackened from fire. The walls, usually pristine and guarded, were now riddled with holes and shattered stone.I clenched m

140Ian’s POV As I stepped through the portal and returned to the human world, the cool air of the city night washed over me, doing little to ease the tension that coiled tightly in my chest. The realm was falling apart, piece by piece, and I was the one who had to hold it all together. I had to be the king—steady, strong, impenetrable—but all I could think about was Sophia. And now, our unborn child. The thought of her waiting for me In my condo pulled me like gravity, but I hesitated before heading inside. How could I tell her that our world was in ruins? That everything I had spent centuries trying to protect was crumbling under the weight of betrayal and war? She’d already been through so much—her kidnapping, the torture she endured, and now the pregnancy.I pushed open the door quietly, stepping into the dimly lit condo. The scent of home greeted me, a mixture of Sophia’s favorite candles and the faint, comforting smell of her. I could hear soft voices coming from the living roo

191Ian’s POVThe weight of my child in my arms was heavier than I expected, but not in a way that tired me. It was a weight that filled me with awe, a kind of responsibility I had never imagined could feel so peaceful. Ava’s tiny fists curled against my chest, soft breaths rising and falling in the perfect rhythm of sleep. For the first time in what felt like forever, everything was still, everything was peaceful.I sat in the rocking chair near the window, dim light filtering thought the curtain. The house was quiet—Sophia was resting in the bedroom, exhausted but content after the birth. I had barely left her side since she’d gone into labor, unable to help the overwhelming sense of protectiveness that surged through me.But now, as I held this tiny life in my hands, all the fear and chaos we had gone through seemed to fade away. It was just us—our family.“Hey there,” I whispered softly, my voice barely more than a breath as I gazed down at my child. “You’re finally here.”I felt

I was pregnant.Jacob was in the kitchen, making us a late breakfast. I could hear the soft clatter of pans and the gentle hum of music from the living room, but I couldn’t move. For a moment, I felt frozen in place, my thoughts racing. We weren’t trying for a baby. We weren’t ever going to try. I was a vampire and even though Sophia was able to get pregnant, it didn’t mean I could too. But here it was, plain as day. The test didn’t lie.I felt a mixture of emotions swirl through me—happiness, fear, excitement. All at once, it seemed like everything in my life was about to change. But most of all, I was happy. 189Sophia’s POVIt was happening. It was really happening. After months of waiting, months of uncertainty, fear, and hope, she was finally here. My body was aching but not as much as I guessed it should be.I glanced over at Ian, who stood by my side, his hand gripping mine tightly. His face was filled with anxiousness. His thumb rubbed small circles against my palm, trying to soothe me, but I could feel the tension in his grip. This was a moment that neither of us could control, a moment we could only experience.“You’re doing amazing, Sophia,” Ian whispered, his voice low and steady, although it was trembling. His eyes met mine. “Just breathe.”I nodded, though the pressure in my abdomen made it hard to do anything other than focus on the next breath. I squeezed his hand in response, letting him know I heard him, even if I couldn’t find the words right now.The room around us was a blur. I barely registered the blur of voices—the midwife, a nurse—guiding me through the process. My

188Jenny’s POVThe day had finally come—my wedding day. I should’ve been nervous, or maybe overwhelmed by everything, but instead, I felt oddly calm as I sat in the small room at the back of the church, waiting for my moment to walk down the aisle. My fingers traced the intricate lace on my wedding dress, a soft white gown that had been perfect the moment I saw it. It was exactly how I had imagined my wedding to be—simple, intimate, and with the people I cared about most.Sophia sat next to me, her eyes sparkling with excitement. “You look incredible, Jenny,” she said with a smile that reached her eyes.“Thanks, Soph,” I said, trying to sound nonchalant, but there was a catch in my throat. “It’s kind of crazy, isn’t it? That I’m actually doing this?”She laughed softly, brushing a loose strand of hair behind her ear. “A little bit, yeah. I thought you were joking last week when you said you and Jacob are getting married. But you and Jacob are meant to be. I’m just happy you’re doing

187Ian’s POVThe sun was setting, making the vampire realm look pale. It used to be pretty to look at, but now the usual beauty felt hollow. Some parts of the ground was still red from all the blood that had dried on it, and though the air was quieter, it felt heavy. I stood in the middle of the courtyard, watching as the survivors moved about, trying to restore what had been broken. It wasn’t just the buildings that needed rebuilding. It was us—me, Sophia, the council, everyone. As the king, I had always known the weight and responsibilty of leadership but never like this. The battle exhausted on all of us, but there was a strange sense of relief hanging in the air, as if the worst had finally passed. The constant fear was gone. For now, at least.I felt Sophia approach before she spoke. Her presence felt like a soft, steady energy that I could feel even when I wasn’t looking. 186Sophia’s POVThe air in the realm felt different after the battle settled down. The energy that pulsed through the vampire realm seemed dulled, weighed down by loss and grief. The rogue faction was defeated, but the victory felt hollow. So much had been sacrificed. Too much.I stood on the edge of the courtyard, looking out over the horizon. The sun was setting but I barely noticed its beauty. My thoughts were heavy with the weight of everything that had happened. Lyanna was gone. The thought of it felt like a punch to the chest every time it crossed my mind. She had saved us, saved me and our baby, but the cost was her life.“I can’t believe she’s gone,” I whispered to Ian, who was standing beside me, his hand resting on my shoulder.Ian’s expression was hard, his jaw clenched as he stared out at the horizon. He hadn’t said much since the battle ended, the stiffness in his body telling me how much he was struggling to keep his emotions in check.“She was one of the strongest witc

185Lyanna’s POVThe visions had been coming in waves—dark and scary. I’d seen this battle long before it arrived, the pieces falling into place, the danger coiling around us like a snake waiting to strike. But no vision had prepared me for this. The air was thick with the stench of blood and fury, and the sounds of bodies coliding with each other filled my ear. I was at the edge of the battlefield, my senses tingling with the power I held. Magic pulsed in my veins, begging to be released, but I held it back, waiting for the right moment. Timing was everything. In the distance, I saw Ian fighting Mike, lunging at each other, blow after blow. Ian was struggling, that much was clear. Mike was pushing him to his limits, and it took everything in Ian just to stay on his feet. And then there was Sophia. I could feel her fear from here, her desperation. She was with Jacob, fighting off a swarm of rogue vampires, her body slower than usual. Her own power was wearing out. The pregnancy was ta

184Ian’s POVIt felt as if the world itself was holding its breath, waiting for the battle to begin. We were in a neutral territory, a clearing deep in the forest that was between the vampire realm and the outskirts of the human world. I could tell that the place had seen conflict before, the ground stained with the blood of wars long past. Now it would see another.I could hear the sounds of my forces assembling behind me—vampires sharpening their blades and stakes, speaking in low, tense whispers as they prepared for the fight that would start any moment from now. The weight of responsibility hung heavy on my shoulders. I had never wanted this, to be a king at war. But here I was, leading an army to stop a rebellion that threatened everything I had fought to protect.Sophia stood at my side, her eyes scanning the area. She was pale but resolute, and I could see the fire burning in her. Even now, pregnant with our child, she refused to leave my side. I had argued, pleaded with her t
