Author's point of view... Just as they entered the room, a man followed them. Izzy stepped aside, letting him pass. "Sir, here are the things you asked for." Jake, Robert's new secretary, brought a huge box. As Robert gestured for him to enter the room and towards the coffee table in the corner of the room, Jake followed the orders. Placing the huge carton on the table, Jake bowed respectfully and left. Once Jake left the room, Robert turned to Izzy, expecting curiosity, and raised his eyebrows. That girl stood hanging her head. No expression on her face which pissed Robert. "Go check them." He grunted, and Izzy, as if jolting out of her stupor, rushed to the coffee table. Izzy stared at the large box and wondered what it contained until she opened it and was aghast to see. That box was filled with books, books on psychology, her heart racing with both disbelief and excitement. But she couldn't comprehend. No one knows about her fondness for psychological studies.
Author's point of view... Izzy’s hands trembled as she clutched the book she had just pulled from the bottom of the box. The familiar brown cover, worn and faded from years of use, immediately brought her back to a time long before she had been trapped in Robert’s world. It was her mother’s book, one of the very few personal belongings that had survived after she had lost her. This book was like a life journal for her. She forgot to take that book with her when she was in the Brown's mansion for holidays and when she returned there and searched for it, Lissa told her that she had thrown the dusty book away. Izzy was so heart broken that it took too long for her to regain her mind back. "So, she sold it..." Izzy muttered to herself. A part of the leather cover of that book was burnt. The sight of it broke something inside her. She hadn’t been prepared for this. As Izzy slowly opened it, her eyes lit up. Her mother’s handwriting was scrawled on the inside cover, a small, af
Author's point of view... Who was her mother? Why had that particular book set off such an emotional reaction? Robert's mind was in a maze, thinking deeply about the girl's uncontrollable emotions. Izzy’s voice broke the silence, soft but strained. “You can never understand. You can never know that pain, Mr. Erickson." Her words were laced with bitterness, but beneath it, he sensed something else, something fragile, vulnerable. Robert frowned, his suspicions growing. There was something about Izzy’s past that he didn’t know. When Mike gave him the entire information about her, Mike did mention that Izzy's biological mother was so mysterious, with no background or to be clear, with a hidden background, about which even their experts couldn't find much. At that time, Robert didn't care much and asked Mike to stop digging up, but now that he saw there was more to this than seen to the eyes, he wanted it all. He wanted to know everything about Izzy, her past, her family's secr
Author's point of view... Dan barged in with a solemn expression. Anyone who saw him at that very moment would panic, but the two creatures present in the room were preoccupied with their seriousness. Though Izzy jolted for a fraction of a second, she lowered her head and ignored the man who just entered, completely as if she didn't see him. Whereas Robert just glanced at Dan before returning to his work. Dan walked in immediately and started talking in a rush. "Boss...It's... it's so urgent" Robert furrowed his brows and asked coldly, "What brought you here, Dan? What is so urgent that you can't even knock on the door?" Dan hesitated and looked at Izzy. He did make some mistakes, but the matter was so urgent that he couldn't help but rush to Robert right when James informed him. Dan took a deep breath and averted his gaze from Izzy, who was now staring at them, bewildered. "Boss, it's about D..." Dan tried to say, but Robert glared at hi,m, which made Dan stop talk
Author's point of view... "The specialist gave the treatment sheet about Mr.Dave Brown and it's..." Dan began in a tense tone. "And it's what...?" Robert grunted; he was already so annoyed because from the moment Dave was admitted into the hospital, many doctors from all over the country had checked upon him and declared that the young man could not be saved. Using his influence, Robert summoned all the famous surgeons and medical specialists from all over the world. However, nothing seemed to working well with him. All of them had stated only one thing as if reading out of the same book, that it might not be possible to keep Dave alive for long. And Robert wanted to save Dave as he was the only son alive for the Brown family. Actually, being beaten, starved, and locked for so long, Dave's internal organs were all infected. The infection was so dangerously spread through his entire body that he had been kept under the artificial life support in the hospital. Dave was so we
Author's point of view... Robert stood silently in front of the enormous window, gazing down at the twinkling lights of the city below. The skyline stretched out endlessly, its cold, mechanical beauty a stark contrast to the tumultuous thoughts racing through his mind. He gripped the edge of his desk, his expression unreadable, as if the events of the last hour had barely touched him. How could a girl affect his mood so much? Robert frowned at the thought that he was changing day by day. His temper had been changing day by day. Wasn't he the most dangerous man in this entire country? How come that girl vented her anger on him without fear!! His eyes narrowed, and he had every right to be angry at the girl who just slapped him without a reason, but strangely, Robert's mind was running after her; he was unexpectedly thinking about her injury. About how she got her had burnt. After giving him a moment, Dan approached cautiously, hesitating at the door, uncertain whether to speak
Author's point of view... Robert’s silence was answer enough. Abraham could only imagine what kind of punishment awaited those women. He felt goosebumps all over his body. His boss wasn’t known for mercy, and when it came to Izzy, that girl, his wife, it would be even worse. He recalled how he and all those men involved in torturing Izzy were punished back then. Abraham looked at his broken fingers, still in pain. Robert ended the call without another word, his mind already made up. Those women would pay for what they did to Izzy. Not just because they hurt her, but because they had dared to touch someone who belonged to him. How dare they?? Taking another long drag from his cigarette, Robert stared out at the city once more, the cold light of the night reflecting off the glass. He wasn’t the kind of man to let his emotions guide him, but this was different. This was personal. Far away from the office building, Izzy's breath hitched as she squinted at the man beside he
Author's point of view... Izzy was carried into a small car by the kidnappers and was driven away. As Mike walked with his head down, he suddenly noticed something strange going on behind him and turned around to find that Izzy was no longer on that bench. But he did saw a small car near the bench. Before he could comprehend what was actually going on, the car sped away from beside him. Something from the car window blew out. The kerchief that he lent to Izzy came floating in the air and landed just before him. Mike's mind stirred instantly as he took in the situation. He was now quite sure that something was wrong about the car that had just passed by him. And after thinking about it deeper, he was convinced that Izzy was in it. Unable to understand what he can do, he rushed himself to act. Without wasting a second, Mike spun around and sprinted down the street, his eyes locked on the car speeding away. He couldn't think straight. His only focus was getting Izzy back. As
