Laura isn’t mine…

I was completely lost in those beautiful eyes of hers.

Laura.

She was standing in front of me, looking so beautiful that I felt like eating her up right there. Looking deeper in her eyes, I saw ice cream and I wanted some. 

“Hi Jackson…” I suddenly heard faintly in my head. It was sudden and I jerked forward a bit, causing my lips to lightly brush over hers. 

I caught the smile on her face when that happened ahd it made me relax a bit. At least I know I wasn’t the only one affected by the tension between us. It was getting to her too. 

“I’m so sorry please, I didn’t mean for tat to happen.” I quickly apologized while she smiled and oh my God, that beautiful smile made my head turn in all directions. 

“You look beautiful.” I just had to say it and seeing her try hard to stop herself from blushing was more than enough satisfaction.

“Thanks Jackson.”

“I moved into the apartment today. I figured you would need your space and I didn’t want to be the one robbing you of that.” She let out while I nodded. 

I didn’t like that she moved out already though, but I wasn’t about to make her realize how much I wanted her around me. There was no need for such information. 

“How were you able to fix the place? If you had told me, I would have gotten a cleaner to fix it and maybe a planner to help with the interior decor.” I let out while she smiled again.

“Ohh there’s no need for that. I’ve done everything that needed to be done. And I love the decor, it’s nice. There’s no reason to change it.” She affirmed and I nodded.

“I have a date so I might be out late.” The words rolled out of her mouth like it was nothing and I just couldn’t stop staring at her. 

A date already? She hadn’t even been here in the city for three months and she’s going on dates with strangers already?

“He’s not a stranger. His name is Andrew and he’s Arlene’s friend. She connected us.” She let out, as if she was in my head and could hear my thoughts. 

“I didn’t know Arlene was a matchmaker…” I teased and smiled. 

“I know right. I’m so glad she did though, Andrew is such a gentleman, I think I might fall in love with him sooner than I think. He makes me feel so loved and special unlike some men. They would rather tease and toy with a woman’s heart rather than man up and do the needful. But Andrew, he knows exactly what he wants and goes for it…” she let out, stressing more on the last part. 

I knew she was referring to me, and that only meant one thing. She was still in over her head about last night. She was still hooked up on me. I got to her last night and it’s still getting to her. She might be going on a date with someone else but her heart was with someone else. Me.

“I know right, I hope he is the one. You deserve the best out there.” I replied and seeing the way she had to force out the smile and pretend like she was okay with it, I smiled.

You might have started this game, Laura, but I’m more experienced and would win. 

I thought to myself while we looked up and saw Andrew’s car pull in. He got down immediately and approached us but before he could say a word, Laura jumped on him and hugged him tightly. 

I knew she was trying to make me jealous ahd it really worked. I was so jealous and pained that I felt like peeking her off from his grip. 

He was obviously shocked and wasn’t expecting it too but he didn’t waste the opportunity. He held her tightly and enjoyed every bit of the moment.

“You look so hot…” he said when they finally pulled apart. 

She smiled and then waved at me. 

“I’ll bring her back safe.” Andrew chimed in as he led the way to car. 

I stood there and watched as she walked away. The red dress was so nice and made her look really sexy, it hugged all her curves nicely and even made her ass look bigger. My eyes were stuck on her and she stared back too till Andrew got in the car and they zoomed off. 

As the car went out of sight, I felt an ache in my heart. My feelings were growing for Laura and for her sake, I would have to hide it and pretend to be cool with her new relationship.

I can’t be with her. It wouldn’t end well for her. I have to think of her and do right by her. 

I reminded myself of all the reasons we couldn’t be together as I went back inside and locked the door. 

I went into the kitchen and the pizza and ice cream I had gotten for us were staring me in the face. I wasn’t sure she would have had dinner so I stopped on the way home he got the food. 

The plan was to eat together and have some small talks. Maybe even apologize for last night. 

I didn’t even notice she wasn’t in the house or had moved out. I just went in to change and was going to call at her room afterward. 

I grabbed the box of pizza and kept the ice cream in the freezer and then went into the living room. 

I ate in silence but my head was filled with thoughts of Laura. I couldn’t go a minute without thinking of what they might be doing. 

Andrew did seem like a forward person who wouldn’t hold back. He wouldn’t hesitate to kiss, smooch or even make love to her. 

I quickly shook the thought off. 

“She’s not mine, so I can’t be feeling this way. She’s free to be with Andrew”

I kept reminding myself everytime the thought crossed my mind. 

I stayed there in the living room for over three hours, waiting for her to get back. I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t work, couldn’t even eat. 

I was that affected. 

After a while, I went to the window and stood there, peeping through as if Laura would magically pop out from nowhere. 

My phone suddenly rang after about thirty minutes, making me finally leave the window. 

It was a strange number and for some seconds, I contemplated answering the call but then, it was a welcome distraction from my thoughts. 

“Hello there…” the female voice came on from the other side. 

“I’m sure you don’t remember me right? We met some time ago at a bar in California. You said you were on a business trip.” She revealed but I couldn’t remember no matter how hard I tried to.

“Okayy, so why are you calling by this time of the day?” I asked.

“You did promise to call but you never did. So I had to take things into my hands ahd reach out. Tell me, why didn’t you call? Didn’t I make a good enough first impression?” She chimed in, confusing me the more as I was now interested in remembering our encounter but nothing stood out.

“Honestly, I don’t think I remember you or anything about meeting you but that’s okay. What do you want now?” I asked again.

“To see you? Is that too much to ask. I’ll be at your city tomorrow, want to hang out?” She quizzed.

“Hell no, I don’t even know you or remember and I sure as hell don’t want to hang out. If you don’t have anything reasonable to say, I would like to hang up now.” I cut in sharply. 

“That’s fine but I don’t think that’s what you want. Plato bar. I’ll be there at nine in the evening tomorrow. See you there.” She said and then hung up. 

I stood there in a daze, holding my phone to my ear till the disconnect sound fizzled out. 

For the next one minute, I tried to remember her but I still couldn’t. I wasn’t sure I wanted to meet her but the curiosity was eating deep in me. 

I suddenly heard some sound outside and then hurried back to the window. It was Laura, bending over to get a peck from Andrew. 

He whispered something in her ear and I could see her smiling broadly, making me smirk jealously. 

She waved at her while he winked back and leaned over the car, watching as she walked away. I could see him licking his lips with his eyes plugged deep on her swaying behind. 

“That fool…” I stopped myself when I remembered that Laura wasn’t mine. I had no right to cuss at Andrew or fault her for looking for love in the arms of another. 

I stayed there at the window till her door opened and she entered. Andrew also got in the car, but then he pulled out his phone and I could see he was on a video call with someone. 

“Could it be Laura? But she just went in now…” I thought to myself. 

Andrew kissed the phone screen before hanging up and zooming off…
