Chapter 43

Augustus's POV

I watched her, my eyes following her around like a hawk. She blended so well with my people, but I couldn't get rid of the feeling that something was going to go wrong.

When she interacted with her family, I noticed that she was the odd one out. I was overwhelmed with the whole thing and having her so close to me made my wolf very restless.

Now that we were bound by marriage, it was not easy to keep him at bay.

“Rex, calm down!” I cautioned my growling wolf, but he wouldn't stop.

“Take it now! I want her every damn time” Rex said to me, clawing at my mind.

“We are out, this is still the wedding!” I chided him, but he grudgingly calmed down.

After the wedding, we managed to find our way to our chambers, each step with great difficulty because she was in front of me and all I could think about was doing so much to her.

By the time we slept, she was exhausted, her naked body wrapped in my arms as I buried my head in her hair and slept off. My sl

Chapter 44 Olivia's POV I rushed through my bath, excited to see what we were going to be doing. I didn't want anything else but to be away from all this. I thought about Augustus's wisdom to have my parents here, I could see the respect on the faces of the people when they saw that I was also the daughter of an Alpha. “Hello Olivia” I heard a female voice in my head and like an image displayed in front of me, I felt my wolf purr. “Who are you? Lucia? Because this cannot be Augustus” I demanded. “Ariel, I am your wolf” my wolf said and relaxed in my mind. I felt a sense of restlessness overwhelm me. My wolf was Ariel? She is Ariel? “Don't bug your mind so much, I am not going to be able to rest if you keep thinking about everything at the same time” she said, her voice exactly like how I had imagined it. “Are you the Ariel that he fell in love with?” I asked, seeing that no one was really telling me anything about what had happened between Augustus and his first mate. Chapter 45 Augustus's POV My wolf suddenly became restless. Immediately after I finished my conversation with Olivia's fake dad, it was like a sense of unease settled in my stomach, and I struggled to concentrate on the documents in front of me. Finally giving up, I got up and made my way to the chambers, it was almost time for us to leave anyway, and I couldn't wait to get the ritual with the witches done and over with. I met Alexander at the door of my chamber and he looked worried. Tina was standing with him, her hands to her back and her face to the ground. I immediately knew that something was wrong and I got tensed. “What has happened?” I asked. “We can't find the queen anywhere. Even her friend, Elana had not seen her today. We have checked everywhere for her” Alexander said, and I turned my attention to Tina, hoping she would have something to tell me. “Where is she? Where did she tell you that she was going?” I yelled, the apprehension building in my chest. It wi

Chapter 46 Augustus's POV I raced down the pathway, I knew exactly what she had meant by her last statement. She was going to bury Olivia and I couldn't just stand and watch her die. For some reason, the thought of losing her, as opposed to losing my bond with Ariel, losing Olivia hurt worse. Alexander ran behind me, he had not even known why I was running that much still he followed me without questioning. I found the spot, she had drowned one of my mates here before and no matter how many times we had tried to fill it up, she had always found a way to make it work for whatever she wanted. "Olivia" I yelled and suddenly the air bubbled in the ground. I immediately pushed my hand through the sand and grabbed onto something, I didn't know if it was Olivia or not, but i pulled with all my strength. I reached in again and searched around with my hand, finally touching what felt like hair, I dug my hands in deeper and grabbed what felt like an arm and pulled. With great difficult

Chapter 47 Augustus's POV “Why would you ever do something like that?” I demanded, her foggy image becoming clearer in front of me. “How dare you try to betray me?” She yelled at me. I hated being here, being confronted by the wrongs I did several years ago when I had Olivia to go in to meet. “Betray you? We had a deal. You would let me get them to fall in love with me, they can't do that if you keep leading them to their deaths. It's why I mind linked with her, but you managed to find a sore spot and got in” I said, controlling my anger, knowing that she was no longer living so I couldn't hurt her even if I tried. “You want to be happy?” She asked me, and I could hear the mockery in her voice. “I understand. I'll treat her accordingly, but you cannot try to lead her to her death. I will not have you kill her” I argued, I wanted to say so much more but Olivia's life was in the line. “This time around, I want you to treat her worse than you treated me, after all you said y

Chapter 48 Olivia's POV Everywhere seemed weird. I had never been here before and the last thing I remember was the sand and water burning my lungs as in I had tried to struggle out of the quicksand. There were streaks of colors that ran down from the skies to the ground and even then, it felt like I was walking on the clouds. I saw several wolves, and some of them were in their human form. There was something eerie about this place and I thought about Augustus. I closed my eyes and tried to reach out to him, trying all my best to speak to him, but there was nothing. My mind was blank. I shook my head and looked around, wondering why I was here and how I would get home. “OLIVIA BRANDON!” I heard a voice call out to me and as if controlled, I found myself moving towards a cave with fire set in it. “Who are you?” I asked when I got to the mouth of the cave and peeked in. It was pitch-black inside and I couldn't imagine who the person that had called my name was. I heard the s

Within a few minutes, she should be totally awake and aware of what is happening around her” I heard Elana's and sat up. A wave of headache hit me and I closed my eyes to beat the pain. “Are you okay, Olivia?” I heard Augustus ask again. “Yes… it was Ariel. She was the one who controlled me. She told me you were evil and, just now, she was trying to pretend to be a family of mine so she could get me to kill you. Tell me the truth, what happened between the two of you” I demanded. “You saw her in your dreams, and she was trying to get you to kill me?” He asked, but then I squinted again, my head banging. “Take it easy. Olivia, I think this conversation can wait until you are alright. Now is not a good time for this, you are just waking up” Elana added and moved to me, holding me in her arms. “When can we leave here?” I asked, t

Chapter 50 Olivia's POV “Honeymoon? What do you mean honeymoon?” I demanded, confusion and anger flaring in my head. “We were supposed to leave immediately after the wedding remember?” He asked. I had totally forgotten about that, he was saying the truth, we were supposed to go to the witches, the one that Ariel had asked me not to trust. Even though I wanted to disregard her words, something at the back of my mind couldn't understand what could have happened between them that made them to fall so far apart and become enemies. “I remember. You could have told me earlier. I would have known that was why you were so eager to get me discharged out of the hospital” I said and scoffed, but he threw his head back and laughed. “I was so worried about you, I thought that I had lost you” he said and closed his eyes briefly before he focused on the road again. The kingdom was far behind us now, and I turned back to catch a glimpse of the place just in case Ariel had been right and this

Chapter 51Augustus's POV I had always wanted to tell her the whole truth, it was just whenever we started out on it, I was never able to finish. She had looked so distraught in her sleep and I knew that Ariel was never going to let her be if I didn't take her to the witches. “Where is this place?” She asked me as we drove into the witches' coven. I could not remember the last time that I had been here but even then, I was hit with a nostalgic wave of familiarity, almost like it had just been yesterday. “It's the coven, you will be taken care of here for a few hours. I will be with you every step of the way, but I need you to trust me” I said to her, and she gave me a long considerable look before she casually shrugged her shoulders. “Ariel said that you were giving me to them so they could prepare me for you to kill” she said, and I nearly laughed, Ariel was definitely getting out of her element because she had never failed so terribly at lying before, and now it seemed that she

They were both shivering and looked like they had not expected this to happen even though I wondered why. Nile had given them up so easily, and I knew they would have noticed that. “We don't know, we swear. We won't be foolish to lie to you” Alpha Brandon responded, but I knew immediately that he was lying. I slapped him squarely across the face, pissed off that he thought I was someone he could mess around with.“Oh please, let my poor husband go. Nile lied to you. We did go to him, but he refused to let her come with us, we wanted to contact you, but we didn't want you to think that we had anything to do with it” the Luna said as the tears rolled down her eyes, but I didn't care. They were lying and everyone in this room knew it. I pulled out a dagger from my waist band and brandished it in front of the two old peop

Augustus had been so heartbroken with the whole thing. I was so confused. A lot was not making sense to me right now. “Don't look so surprised. You didn't think I would be that cheap to kill, did you?” He asked, his teeth glistening in the hot afternoon sun. I was so angry, each movement of his aggravating me. “How…how could you do this to him?” I asked, my emotions pouring into every word I said. “Do this to whom? The same man who threw me in jail because of you? I have been with that sick bastard for several lifetimes and each time, he has discarded me because of some woman he kept hoping would be you” he said, the anger evident in his voice as I had never heard him use that tone before. He had injected me with something that immediately made me feel sleepy. Now, opening my eyes I was shocked to find myself in a place that I knew too much. It was my former pack, a place that I had run away from, disgraced and hurt. The one place that I never wanted to go back to. How had this happened? I asked myself. “Don't you dare call him that!” I heard my fake mother's voice and realized that these people were not my friends, they didn't love me. They are my enemies. I had to start seeing them in that light. “Well, I won't. To think that I forgot and bestowed such honor on the two of you” I snapped at him and Alpha Brandon slapped me. Chapter 101Augustus's POV I crawled my way up the hill, making sure that none of my movements made more sounds than a whisper. The plan had to work, I needed to be sure that Elana had not been right about her suspicion, I didn't know what I would do to Nile if I found out that he had anything to do with the disappearance of my wife. Wife. The word sounded in my eyes. Olivia wasn't just my mate bound to me by the moon goddess, she was also my wife, bound to me by the laws of the kingdom in front of everyone we ruled over. It was different now, and I realized that I could not let her leave me. No matter how great I thought her being away for now, I knew her place was right beside me. Even all those lifetimes ago, she had captured my heart in ways that I didn't think was possible and every time I had to go back to Ariel, all that had consumed my mind at the end of the day was the explosive time I had with the other woman. The same man I now had a chance to be with after 999 lifetime

Chapter 100Elana's POV I could have sworn that Olivia was back in the palace. It was only when I got to Augustus's office that I realized that it was his guest that had the same scent with Olivia. It wasn't entirely hers, it was mixed with his also, meaning that this man must have been in the same place with Olivia within the last twenty-four hours. “My king, I would like us to speak privately” I said after I told him that I could scent Olivia. “Give me a few minutes” he said, and I went out to wait for him to finish with his guest. One that I suddenly didn't trust anymore. I knew that Augustus wasn't one to condone any form of evil, it was shocking that he was there drinking with a man that should clearly not be trusted. I had barely finished my train of thoughts when the door opened and Augustus came out with the strange man. They shook hands and the man gave me a respectful bow before leaving, I tried my best to smile, but I knew that I probably looked ridiculous. As soon as

I thought I knew where she had gone, she mentioned going to the human settlement but, I have combed every town and city in the last week and not even one person had seen her. "Your majesty” I heard Elana's quiet voice interrupting my thoughts, I had no desire to see or speak to anyone. "Elana" I said quietly, not even bothering to face her. “She reached out to me. I don't know, but she is in some sort of danger. I was cut off before I could get anything else” she said, and I immediately turned, my ears ready to listen to anything else that would point us in the right direction. “Why didn't she reach out to me?” I asked, a stab of jealousy piercing my heart. “I'm sure she only reached out to me because our connection is more shared. Technically, I am her guardian wolf.” She explained and I nodded my head. “What did you see? What did s

The one thing I couldn't afford to do right now. “I…I… Am not Olivia or whatever you say her name is” I managed to say, my voice sounding alien even to me. He laughed, loudly, then got up and went to the mini bar behind his chair to pull out a bottle of raw alcohol. “You see, I had my doubts when I saw you. King Augustus has been on my radar for a while and I kept racking my brain on how to get him to notice me. When I saw you, I had my doubts but today, after seeing the way you have cleaned up nicely, I know without a doubt that you are queen Olivia of the Lycan Kingdom” he said, his voice increasing in pitch and tempo with every word. “I am not her. Just then, there was a rustling of keys at the door and I quickly laid back down, pretending to be asleep. A middle-aged woman made her way into the room, she didn't even bother to look at me before setting the plate roughly on the floor, some of its contents spilling out of the plate. “I know you are awake, I saw you when you were running back to lie down on your bed. You better wake up and eat, the Alpha would soon send for you” she said and left the room before I could get a word out. Her words had stunned me, I laid there for some time before the rumbling of my stomach pushed me from the bed. I made my way to the plate, each step making me dizzier than I was.

My life felt empty, and I wished that I had not said anything to her about Ariel, instead, I had just told her the truth. “Your Majesty, you sent for me?” Elana said, I had not let her have a moment of rest since yesterday, she had done all she could to link with Olivia, but she was too far, beyond our reach. “Have you had any luck yet?” I asked, even though I already knew what the answer would be. “Not yet your majesty” she said and even though I already knew what the answer would be, my heart broke into a thousand pieces for the umpteenth time that day. “Fine.” I said grumpi
