(FMO)Chapter 3
Sophia
(You've Forgotten Who I am)
“What?.”
“Yes, Anna. Everybody dies.”
“And I agreed to this?.” I asked in disbelief.
“You personally designated the locations of the bombs.”
“I see. How long till they go off, Carter?.” I asked him while mentally praying that it wasn't too late to save everybody here.
“Ninety minutes, my love.”
Thank God. There's enough time.
I gently stepped away from his embrace and plastered a smile on my face.
“Then I better enjoy my husband's last ninety minutes on earth with him.”
“Of course. What a thoughtful wife.”
“Shouldn't you be taking your leave now, mister Carter?.”
“Of course, babe.”
He gives me one last kiss before smacking my ass and walking out the door.
I breathed a sigh of relief before I looked around for anything that I could use.
Maybe, a phone.
I searched around the room for a phone before the door opened again.
“Good lord, Belle! What have you done to my masterpiece!.”
“Albie?.”
My sister was standing right at the door with her hands on her waist.
“It's Tina, young lady. Now, why did you ruin your hair and makeup? I almost screamed in the hall when Ace told me you needed a touch up. Girl, I left you looking like art.”
I was overwhelmed by my emotions as I engulfed her in a tight hug.
“Oh, I'm glad to see you, Albie.”
She froze at first before I felt her pat my back slowly.
“Alright. What's wrong with you? Did you really slip and fall? Ace told me you're acting strange.” She said as soon as we broke the hug.
“Nothing. I'm fine. Same old Annabelle.” I said with a smile.
“Are you sure? You've been calling me Albie.”
“It's from a movie I just saw last night. You look like a character from the movie.” I lied.
She gave me a bored look.
“I was with you all through last night. We never saw a movie, Belle.”
“Oh my bad. Where is Ace? I must speak to him right now.”
“No. That's bad luck. He's not meant to see you until later.”
“But it's urgent, please.”
“No. You've already seen each other enough. Now sit down and let me retouch your makeup for you.”
The ten minutes of makeup redo felt like forever as I tapped my foot in nervousness.
“All done. Try not to ruin it again this time.”
“Thank you, Tina. I won't.”
“You better don't.”
“Can you please call Ace for me. I swear it's important.” I begged her.
“Fine! You're giving me those puppy eyes. Now sit tight and don't move.”
“Thank you.”
I breathed a sigh of relief as she walked out the door and not long after Ace walked in.
“Annabelle. Tina says you needed to see me?.”
“Yes. Please we have to change the venue.” I went straight to the point.
“What? Why? You wanted this hall. You insisted on it. Not to talk of the fact that I hated it right from the start.” He said.
“I know and I'm sorry. I just need the guests and the entire wedding ceremony somewhere else that isn't here. Please, Ace.” I grabbed his hands and looked him in the eye.
“Oh my God, Annabelle. What do you expect me to do when the wedding is about to start in a few minutes.”
“I'm sorry. But please you'll regret it if you don't do something. I had a really bad dream last night and now I have a bad feeling about the wedding. It was scary, Ace.”
“Fine! I'll see what I can do. Better pray there's an available hall in Los Angeles in such short notice.”
“Thank you, Ace. I don't even mind the park, just any other place but here.”
And with that the wedding and the wedding guests were transported from Prestige Hall to Pyramid Heights hotel and I couldn't be more relieved.
Thankfully, Ace Hartford must be a very influential man to have the owner of the hotel rent the hall to Ace for free.
He called it a wedding gift.
The wedding procession went by smoothly with the only hitch on my own part, being the fact that I had to kiss a total stranger.
He is a really good kisser by the way.
The reception was going very well as lively music filled the air.
“Thank you so much, Ace, you have no idea what you just did.”
“You've said that a million times today, Annabelle. That's enough. It's not like I saved the world.” I could detect the tinge of amusement in his voice.
“You really don't know.”
“Well, if you really want to show your gratitude, you know there's various ways of showing that. You can show me how grateful you are tonight.”
He trailed his hands down my sides as I knew that look on his face.
And honestly, I'm not ready for that.
“Nephew!.”
A voice cut in before I could respond to him.
“Uncle Damien. I'm so glad you could make it here. I'm very sorry for the stress of changing venues on such short notice.”
“It's nothing. Anything for you, my boy. I'm glad to be here for you.”
I turned to face the person that Carter had mentioned earlier and I honestly wish I didn't.
“Bryan?.”
I couldn't control my mouth yet again.
What game was the universe playing? I was literally staring at a more matured looking Bryan who had started to gray by the temples.
I could recognise my past husband no matter what form or shape he took.
This was what Bryan Montgomery would look like in his fifties.
“It's uncle Damien, Annabelle not Bryan. Who is Bryan?.” Ace spoke first.
My eyes stayed fixed on the face of the man who cheated on me and left me for dead in my past life.
And now judging from what Carter said earlier, he was not a good person in this world either.
Some things never change.
“Don't bother her, Ace she must be exhausted and tired. Everything that has happened today is weighing her down. Isn't that so, Annabelle?.”
I couldn't bring myself to respond as I couldn't believe that I was standing face to face with Bryan in another world but still I couldn't have my revenge.
I felt Ace gently nudge me.
“Annabelle, don't be rude. Say hello to uncle Damien.”
Never. Over my dead body.
“Excuse me. I need to use the restroom.” I said instead.
I'm sure they must be thinking I'm rude but that is the least of my worries now.
I couldn't breathe back there.
Thoughts and images of my past life attacked my vision and dragged me back to that cursed day.
I gripped the edge of the counter as I tried to steady my breathing. It was difficult.
“I knew I'd find you here, Anna.”
I jumped in shock and turned to see Carter standing behind me.
“I didn't hear you come in. What are you doing in the ladies room? Someone can see you here.”
“I don't fucking care. What the hell did you do back there?.”
“What are you talking about?.”
“Don't play dumb with me! Play time's over, Annabelle! Why did you disrupt the plan!.” He yells at me while grabbing my arm.
“Carter, let go. You're hurting me.”
“I'm not even started yet. Seems like you've forgotten what I'm capable of doing. You've forgotten who I am.”
(FMO)Chapter 4Ace(Tell Me The Truth, Sophia!)Annabelle's funny attitude since today has been nothing short of irritating and annoying. She acted like she didn't know me and Noah. She called Tina, Albie. She froze when I kissed her earlier and now she was rude to uncle Damien. They used to be cool with each other. “My apologies, uncle. Annabelle hasn't been herself since today.” “No hard feelings, Ace. I know your wife's a good kid.” He said while taking a sip of his drink. “Thank you. I promise to have a word with her later.” “No sight of your mother today?.” He asked with a knowing look on his face“You know she doesn't approve of Annabelle so I thought it would be better not to invite her today.” My mother hated Annabelle because she was from a lowly family with no background and strong back story. I picked Annabelle up on a rainy night by the roadside on my way to the hospital two years ago. Noah was just a three month old baby then and was down with a fever. Despite be
(FMO) Chapter 5Sophia(Burner Phone)“It's not me!” I lashed out at Ace before shoving him. He's adding to my stress. “It's not you?” Ace laughed to himself before running a hand through his hair, “If it's not you then who is it?!” He yelled back at me. “You're very unbelievable. I can't deal with you tonight. Where's my bed, I need to rest. I've had enough of you for one night.” Ace stood rigid with a frown on his face and acted as if I didn't just speak, “Never mind actually. I'll find my own way.” I grumbled before stomping up the stairs and walking into the first empty room I could find. “Are you alone now?”. Carter's authoritative voice came from the burner phone that was strapped to my thigh. I jumped in shock before retrieving it and placing it against my ear. “Yes. He's gone now.” I answered. Carter had walked into the restroom at the wedding party and harassed me. He threatened me with hurting Annabelle's brother and I couldn't just sit still and not do anything to p
Sophia “Nothing, Carter.” I almost slapped myself earlier for forgetting that Carter was on the line. “Is that so?” His deep voice sounded raspy as I sensed he didn't believe me. He must know that I'm lying. “Yes. That is just me messing with Ace's head.”He chuckled darkly over the line as I gripped the phone tighter to my ear. “Very well, sweet pea. I believe you.” He concluded but deep down I knew he had his reservations about this brand new me. Why wouldn't he? Anyone with eyes can tell that something was different about me. Or rather about Annabelle. “Thank you.” Before his reply could be heard, a knock sounded at the door making me jump in shock as the phone slipped through my hand. “You've been awfully tense and jumpy since today, Annabelle. Loosen up.” Carter scolded me as I picked up the phone and tucked it back into my garter. “Who is it?” I asked aloud to whoever was at the other side of the door. “It's me.” Ace. My mood instantly soured at the realization that
Ace “Aren't you going to kiss him goodnight?” She stopped at the foot of the bed as she looked like a deer caught in headlights. “I'm sorry. What?” She sounded confused. “You didn't kiss Noah good night. You know he hates it when you forget to kiss him good night.” I reminded her. “But he's asleep now. He's not even going to find out.” She countered. I shrugged off my already unbuttoned shirt and folded my arms across my chest as her eyes dropped to my naked chest immediately.“You think so?” I smugly responded. How could she actually forget something so important to Noah. He loves her like a mother and she in turn looked after him and catered for him like her own. But tonight, for a second there she looked like she didn't even know him. Nor I. I noticed her tense up when my son wrapped his arms around her. Her eyes were empty and didn't hold the usual warmth they used to contain. It's like she's a totally different person now and we're nothing but strangers to her. I kno
(FMO)Chapter 8Sophia (A Brutal Awakening)It was still a bit dark when I woke up in the morning. Groaning at the fact that I was still in my wedding dress which was unzipped by Ace last night, I got up from the bed and made my way into the bathroom. Stopping in front of the mirror, I almost jumped in fear at the image in front of me. I looked like a zombie. My mascara was running down my face because of the tears that I had cried nonstop last night. My hair was like a bird’s nest as it piled up atop my head in knots. I brushed my teeth and washed my face before preparing for a thorough body wash using the available products in the bathroom.I let the dress drop as I got into the shower to rinse my body. Wrapping my body in a towel and wrapping another on my head, I walked out of the bathroom and was startled to see Ace sitting cross legged on the bed. “Ace.” I said in shock as I tried to control my racing heart. “You pulled quite a stunt last night, wife. Did you sleep well?”
(FMO)Chapter 9Sophia(Noey Knows)“Who is it?” My breath got caught in my throat as I prayed it wouldn't be Ace. Hadn't he done enough already?“Mommy?” A tiny voice came from the other side of the door. That must be the child. I quickly unlocked the door and he was standing there in a spongebob pajamas, rubbing his sleepy eyes as his podgy little hands were wrapped around a stuffed teddy bear. He didn't have any footwear on. “Noah?” My voice sounded unsure and hesitant as I opened the door wider and he walked in. “Good morning, mummy.” He groggily greeted me before yawning as I almost melted at his cuteness. He has got to be the most handsome little boy I have ever met. He was absolutely the cutest thing ever. “Good morning, Noah. How did you sleep, baby?” I squat down to his level to converse with him. “Noey did not sleep well. What about you, mommy? You didn't sleep next to Noey and daddy.” He pouted. “Are you mad at me and Daddy?” He asked with glassy eyes. Noey?“No! Ne
(FMO)Chapter 10Sophia(Mommy's Promise)“Yes. Noey knows.” Should I ask him? What if he gets really suspicious and tells his father that I'm asking a lot of questions or that I don't know some basic things about him and Annabelle. Ace might decide to seek counsel from Carter. Carter. I have forgotten all about him. The phone was still inside my robe. Carter will be mad at me. And when Carter gets mad. It doesn't end well. But then again, her sad eyes kept piercing into my soul almost like she was crying for help. Something is wrong somewhere. “Noey, can you remind mommy?” I gently asked him. “Mommy never wants to be forgotten.” He simply stated as he was busy playing with my hair. The earth stood at a standstill when he mumbled those words in a carefree manner. What does that mean? Did she suspect she was about to die? Was Carter going to hurt her? Or maybe she thought she would have been blown to bits during the explosion. My head was seriously grasping for straws at
(FMO)Chapter 11Ace(Thirty Minutes)The moment she walked in my senses were on high alert. There was something different about her. I don't believe in that bullshit that she isn't Annabelle. She looked like Annabelle. She smells like Annabelle. She talks like Annabelle. She has got to be Annabelle even though she doesn't feel like Annabelle. Then what was wrong with her? Why did she react that way last night and this morning? I felt bad when I saw her cry and turn away from me when I attempted to touch her. I'd never ever force myself on a woman. It's wrong. The slap? I deserved it. I didn't know that she was serious. Most times Annabelle would be in tears or distraught over private issues she never would agree to share with me, all she would ask for would be for me to hold her. Whenever I would catch her crying, I would hold her and never let her go. She craved comfort. She was going through a lot but she always loved for me to be around her. She loved having my arms around
