You've Forgotten Who I Am

(FMO)Chapter 3

(You've Forgotten Who I am)

“What?.”

“Yes, Anna. Everybody dies.”

“And I agreed to this?.” I asked in disbelief.

“You personally designated the locations of the bombs.”

“I see. How long till they go off, Carter?.” I asked him while mentally praying that it wasn't too late to save everybody here.

“Ninety minutes, my love.”

Thank God. There's enough time.

I gently stepped away from his embrace and plastered a smile on my face.

“Then I better enjoy my husband's last ninety minutes on earth with him.”

“Of course. What a thoughtful wife.”

“Shouldn't you be taking your leave now, mister Carter?.”

“Of course, babe.”

He gives me one last kiss before smacking my ass and walking out the door.

I breathed a sigh of relief before I looked around for anything that I could use.

Maybe, a phone.

I searched around the room for a phone before the door opened again.

“Good lord, Belle! What have you done to my masterpiece!.”

“Albie?.”

My sister was standing right at the door with her hands on her waist.

“It's Tina, young lady. Now, why did you ruin your hair and makeup? I almost screamed in the hall when Ace told me you needed a touch up. Girl, I left you looking like art.”

I was overwhelmed by my emotions as I engulfed her in a tight hug.

“Oh, I'm glad to see you, Albie.”

She froze at first before I felt her pat my back slowly.

“Alright. What's wrong with you? Did you really slip and fall? Ace told me you're acting strange.” She said as soon as we broke the hug.

“Nothing. I'm fine. Same old Annabelle.” I said with a smile.

“Are you sure? You've been calling me Albie.”

“It's from a movie I just saw last night. You look like a character from the movie.” I lied.

She gave me a bored look.

“I was with you all through last night. We never saw a movie, Belle.”

“Oh my bad. Where is Ace? I must speak to him right now.”

“No. That's bad luck. He's not meant to see you until later.”

“But it's urgent, please.”

“No. You've already seen each other enough. Now sit down and let me retouch your makeup for you.”

The ten minutes of makeup redo felt like forever as I tapped my foot in nervousness.

“All done. Try not to ruin it again this time.”

“Thank you, Tina. I won't.”

“You better don't.”

“Can you please call Ace for me. I swear it's important.” I begged her.

“Fine! You're giving me those puppy eyes. Now sit tight and don't move.”

“Thank you.”

I breathed a sigh of relief as she walked out the door and not long after Ace walked in.

“Annabelle. Tina says you needed to see me?.”

“Yes. Please we have to change the venue.” I went straight to the point.

“What? Why? You wanted this hall. You insisted on it. Not to talk of the fact that I hated it right from the start.” He said.

“I know and I'm sorry. I just need the guests and the entire wedding ceremony somewhere else that isn't here. Please, Ace.” I grabbed his hands and looked him in the eye.

“Oh my God, Annabelle. What do you expect me to do when the wedding is about to start in a few minutes.”

“I'm sorry. But please you'll regret it if you don't do something. I had a really bad dream last night and now I have a bad feeling about the wedding. It was scary, Ace.”

“Fine! I'll see what I can do. Better pray there's an available hall in Los Angeles in such short notice.”

“Thank you, Ace. I don't even mind the park, just any other place but here.”

And with that the wedding and the wedding guests were transported from Prestige Hall to Pyramid Heights hotel and I couldn't be more relieved.

Thankfully, Ace Hartford must be a very influential man to have the owner of the hotel rent the hall to Ace for free.

He called it a wedding gift.

The wedding procession went by smoothly with the only hitch on my own part, being the fact that I had to kiss a total stranger.

He is a really good kisser by the way.

The reception was going very well as lively music filled the air.

“Thank you so much, Ace, you have no idea what you just did.”

“You've said that a million times today, Annabelle. That's enough. It's not like I saved the world.” I could detect the tinge of amusement in his voice.

“You really don't know.”

“Well, if you really want to show your gratitude, you know there's various ways of showing that. You can show me how grateful you are tonight.”

He trailed his hands down my sides as I knew that look on his face.

And honestly, I'm not ready for that.

“Nephew!.”

A voice cut in before I could respond to him.

“Uncle Damien. I'm so glad you could make it here. I'm very sorry for the stress of changing venues on such short notice.”

“It's nothing. Anything for you, my boy. I'm glad to be here for you.”

I turned to face the person that Carter had mentioned earlier and I honestly wish I didn't.

“Bryan?.”

I couldn't control my mouth yet again.

What game was the universe playing? I was literally staring at a more matured looking Bryan who had started to gray by the temples.

I could recognise my past husband no matter what form or shape he took.

This was what Bryan Montgomery would look like in his fifties.

“It's uncle Damien, Annabelle not Bryan. Who is Bryan?.” Ace spoke first.

My eyes stayed fixed on the face of the man who cheated on me and left me for dead in my past life.

And now judging from what Carter said earlier, he was not a good person in this world either.

Some things never change.

“Don't bother her, Ace she must be exhausted and tired. Everything that has happened today is weighing her down. Isn't that so, Annabelle?.”

I couldn't bring myself to respond as I couldn't believe that I was standing face to face with Bryan in another world but still I couldn't have my revenge.

I felt Ace gently nudge me.

“Annabelle, don't be rude. Say hello to uncle Damien.”

Never. Over my dead body.

“Excuse me. I need to use the restroom.” I said instead.

I'm sure they must be thinking I'm rude but that is the least of my worries now.

I couldn't breathe back there.

Thoughts and images of my past life attacked my vision and dragged me back to that cursed day.

I gripped the edge of the counter as I tried to steady my breathing. It was difficult.

“I knew I'd find you here, Anna.”

I jumped in shock and turned to see Carter standing behind me.

“I didn't hear you come in. What are you doing in the ladies room? Someone can see you here.”

“I don't fucking care. What the hell did you do back there?.”

“What are you talking about?.”

“Don't play dumb with me! Play time's over, Annabelle! Why did you disrupt the plan!.” He yells at me while grabbing my arm.

“Carter, let go. You're hurting me.”

“I'm not even started yet. Seems like you've forgotten what I'm capable of doing. You've forgotten who I am.”
