Burner Phone

(FMO) Chapter 5

Sophia

(Burner Phone)

“It's not me!” I lashed out at Ace before shoving him.

He's adding to my stress.

“It's not you?” Ace laughed to himself before running a hand through his hair, “If it's not you then who is it?!” He yelled back at me.

“You're very unbelievable. I can't deal with you tonight. Where's my bed, I need to rest. I've had enough of you for one night.” Ace stood rigid with a frown on his face and acted as if I didn't just speak, “Never mind actually. I'll find my own way.” I grumbled before stomping up the stairs and walking into the first empty room I could find.

“Are you alone now?”. Carter's authoritative voice came from the burner phone that was strapped to my thigh.

I jumped in shock before retrieving it and placing it against my ear.

“Yes. He's gone now.” I answered.

Carter had walked into the restroom at the wedding party and harassed me.

He threatened me with hurting Annabelle's brother and I couldn't just sit still and not do anything to prevent harm from

coming to an innocent man.

Flashback:

“Carter, let go. You're hurting me.”

“I'm not even started yet. Seems like you've forgotten what I'm capable of doing. You've forgotten who I am.” He gritted out while increasing his hold on me to a painful level.

“Please stop. This is going to bruise and Ace will know what happened.” I tried to reason with him.

He looked at me intently for a while before releasing his grip on me. “You're right, Anna. We don't want Ace finding out now, do we?” He asked with a smirk as I shook my head in response.

The very moment I removed my eyes from him to inspect the bruise that I was sure would be forming on my arm from his harsh grip, the next thing I felt was the back of his hand colliding with my cheek which sent me falling backwards into the sink.

“Well, that.” He said while pointing to my cheek that I was presently clutching, “you can cover with makeup, can't you?” He grinned.

As I nodded in response, a lone tear fell from my eyes as I stood still while he watched me with a strange look in his eyes.

“There's something different about you, Anna. I can't quite place my finger on it yet. At least for now.” He placed his thumb and index finger on his chin.

Had he begun to suspect me? How would the real Annabelle react in this situation?

I think I best hide my identity from Carter because he looks like he would kill me if he figured out that I was an imposter.

“There's nothing different about me, Carter. I'm just tired and confused.”

“Tired and confused? Of what, Anna!” He raged on. “We had a plan, a solid plan that would have left us with more money that we could ever spend and for you, earn.” He mocked me.

“I'm sorry, Carter. I just felt like the timing wasn't right. I don't think it was okay to bomb the wedding.” I tried to reason with him. “What about Noah? He's just a kid.”

“Shut up!” He roared as I jumped in fright, “And who the fuck made you think that you have the power to change my decision. And I don't care about that brat, Noah.” He spoke in anger.

“I'm sorry. It will never happen again.” I pleaded.

“Sorry doesn't fix this, Annabelle. I'll teach you never to mess with me again.”

“No, Carter please! I've learnt from my mistakes and I swear I'll never do it again.” Rubbing my palms together in a plea and looking towards the exit for any sign of a helper, I wondered if I should make a run for it.

“Don't even think about it.” He traced my line of sight before harshly gripping my jaw and pressing me back further into the sink making me hiss in pain. “Let me ask you a question, did you ever stop to think about what would happen if Ace suddenly gets suspicious of you and how you knew about the bombing? What would you say if he had asked you?”

“I don't know. I wouldn't have said anything.” I cried out.

“Exactly, sweet pea. You wouldn't have said anything and then you would be under pressure.” As he said that he applied more pressure on my jaw and I cried out louder in pain, “shut up!” He instructed before continuing with his sentence. “And under pressure, you would have succumbed and told him all our plans, right?” He asked.

“No” I shook my head. “I would never betray you like that. You have to believe me.”

“See? That's the problem right there. I don't believe you.” That was the last thing he said before roughly turning me around, making my hip to harshly collide with the sink before I heard the sound of his belt buckle. “No wait, please.” I pleaded with him.

“Shut the hell up! I'll teach you to behave!” He said while fumbling with the skirt of my dress as I went into panic mode instantly at the realization of what he was about to do.

“No, Carter, wait!” I attempted to halt his actions by holding his hand.

“I said shut up!” He yelled. Rage was very apparent on his face as I looked at him through the mirror.

“Ace is going to find out!” I blurted out and just like magic, he paused his actions.

“What do you mean?” He questioned with a frown as he turned me around to face him.

“Tonight is supposed to be our wedding night, Ace and I.” I explained in between pants. “If you do this now, Ace will find out.”

After a minute had passed, he slowly let go of my arm and took a step back before plastering a sinister smile on his face.

“You plan on sleeping with my brother tonight? Well, that's the only thing you know how to do.” He chuckled, “Very well then.”

I could only look down on the floor because I was embarrassed and didn't know what to say.

“Carter, I'm begging you, please just go.” I pleaded with him.

“You don't tell me what to do.” He snapped before fishing out a small burner phone from his pocket as my brows drew together in confusion.

“What's that?”

“A communication device, Anna. It's a phone.” He said it like he was explaining to a dimwit.

“I know. But what is it for?”

“Keeping you in check. That's the easiest way to put it.” He said

“But you know that this isn't necessary, Carter.” I backed away.

“Shut up and take it.” He shoved it into my hand.

“I have no pockets, Carter. People are gonna see it. Ace is going to ask questions.” I reasoned.

“Smart girl.” He said with a smirk before collecting the phone from me. “What do you have underneath?” He eyed my dress, especially the slit by the left side of my dress.

“What?”

“Don't make me repeat myself, Anna.” He threatened.

“Garter. There's a garter underneath my dress.” I told him.

“Perfect.”

With that, he got down on one knee in front of me and pulled out my left leg from the slit, completely exposing me to him.

“Carter, what are you doing?”

“Stay fucking still, Annabelle. Don't make me hit you again.”

“Sorry.”

He took the phone and trailed his warm and rough hands along my leg leaving goosebumps in its trail. He attached the phone inside my dress, at the apex of my thigh and strapped it down using the garter before placing a kiss there, making my breath hitch in my throat.

“All done.” He stood up and I sighed in relief. “I'll always be on the line so keep the phone with you at all times so I can listen in on your every discussion. Do I make myself clear?” He had a serious look on his face.

I nodded.

“Use your words, Anna.”

“Yes.”

“Good. I'll leave first, you leave later.” He instructed before grabbing my face and pressing his lips harshly to mine.

“Be expecting me on the line tonight.” He said before leaving.

Flashback Ends;

“What do you mean by you're not Annabelle?”
