Chapter 54

Thief walked through the thick fog, stepping on dry leaves, broken bones, and sometimes slipping on pieces of rotting flesh. It was desolate and bleak. Suddenly, she tripped over a fresh corpse.

It was an old woman, her hands stretched upwards like two Big Bang tree branches, already dead and withered. Her cloudy eyes were covered with white scales that wouldn't close, even in death.

Parker knelt down to help the woman's eyes closed, feeling the sticky sensation of her fingers like dissolved sugar.

There were worm beetles crawling on the wrinkled face. The scene was lively.

The crowd gathered and huddled together like a swarm of flies and mosquitoes. They showed a mix of fear, excitement, and even fake smiles.

The noise of their chatter was like needles pricking Parker's skin.

She tried to push the crowd away, but the red wedding dress she wore was wrapped in a plastic bag. A bag full of meat. The horror spread quickly, and the crowd scattered in a panic.
