Looking at Jessica, Mary said with a big smile on her face, "I'm here to give them an exclusive interview."

After a pause, she added, "The results of the elimination round of Muse Competition have come out. I narrowly beat you. You're not unhappy about it, I suppose?"

Jessica and Gail exchanged a glance.

Earlier this day, they had been too occupied with the issue of the endorsement to spare a thought for the Muse Competition, so the news came as a surprise to them.

"Of course not. Actually I never expected to get a nomination."

The elevator came and Jessica turned to it without another glance at Mary.

She walked into the elevator, chin up, chest out, Gail in her wake. Mary followed them inside with her agent. "I'm positive you would've been the winner were it not for the scandal earlier this day."

"Is that so?"

Jessica pressed the "1" button and then turned to stare at Mary with piercing eyes. "You're being too modest. I've always been an ugly girl."

"So it does bother you, Je
