"Cristabel!"
I roared as soon as she answered the phone call. I was still at school, walking like a mad girl. "The job is shit! What were you thinking? Did you even check what kind of job that is?"
"Why? Did he offer you to be a stripper?" she said with her mouth full.
"What the fuck—no!" I shouted. "You didn't know what job that is!"
I heard her laughing from the other line when I noticed a familiar face of a woman shouting at the guy that she almost disturbed the other students passing this way. The guy looked like the same guy in the pictures, and after trying to register in my mind their faces, I realized that they were the couple that Neil was talking about.
"So there. That was why I was forced to tell him that he can give you a job." I heard Cristabel saying. I didn't hear some of the parts of what she said but I'm sure it was about her getting attracted with Neil that made her excited and changed her mind about money. What the fuck. He is not even cute, for me.
"He's not even cute," I replied and noticed that the girl took a paper from the guy's hand and ripped it into pieces. The girl stomped her way out and left the guy staring at the ground where the pieces of paper were lying.
"Anyway, I gotta go. And I'm gonna kill you later," I hissed at her then dropped the call without hearing her response. I got curious about the whole scenario and it felt like the guy was upset after that woman tore the paper.
"Hey." The guy turned around as soon as I called his attention.
"So um... I'm new here and I was just wondering—" Before I could even tell him my lies for my undercover, he immediately ran away and left. My eyebrows furrowed as I wonder why he would run away like I'm going to kill him. Then my eyes landed on the torn paper on the ground and noticed some pieces of it that it was a printed invitation for the next next event of the campus. I picked it all up and decided to put the pieces back in one piece so I can read what it says. But one thing's for sure, Neil may be right about this couple. Something's wrong with them.
I went home and gave Cristabel some words about me forcing me to a job like that. Cristabel just laughed at me then I headed straight to my room. I opened the desk lamp and placed the ripped pieces of paper on the desk then put it all in one piece like a puzzle. When it was done, I sealed it with a tape then placed it before the lamp. Then I saw that it was an invitation for the next campus' event and that guy—Alex—was invited as a guest of honor for being the best player for football on campus this year.
And a thought came into my mind—why his girlfriend was so upset with him that she had to torn this important invitation in front of him? Many reasons came into my mind—jealousy, money, and time.
Maybe I should ask him. Both of them, separately. Like how and why?
I came back to the campus the next day, holding this paper with tapes on it. I came back to the same spot where those couples were at but I didn't find them there. Instead, when I turned around, I bumped into this huge guy who was holding a cup of coffee and was wearing jet black classic shades that matched to his dark blue long sleeves.
"Coming here so early, huh?" Neil said with a smirk. Gotta admit it, his looks right now is making him attractive.
I didn't know what to say. I honestly don't want to tell him that I came back for the couple because he might sneer or tease me about it.
"The couple's classes today will start two hours later," he said. "You should've asked me their schedules first and I could also give you some access to the campus' premises. You couldn't get into places like the library or the gym."
"I'm not interested in this job. I was just curious why that woman tore the guy's invitation for the event," I said as I shook my head in disbelief, remembering what I witnessed yesterday.
"What invitation?" he asked. I gave him the paper that has tapes on it then he stared at it.
"Ooh. That girl must have her reasons why she was not letting her boyfriend go there," he said then gave the paper back to me.
"I didn't say that she was not letting him go there. I just saw her ripping the paper apart and the guy seemed to be upset with it."
"It's still the same thing. He finds that invitation valuable," he said. "That was also why the girl ripped it into pieces."
"But why? And yeah, maybe you're right. This is important for him," I said as I slightly shook the paper.
Neil wrapped his chin with his fingers. "Let's go over to their social media and see what we can find there." Then he started walking away. I didn't get the chance to decline and just followed him. Plus, I was curious about all this issue and the reasons behind that woman's actions towards her boyfriend.
We stepped into his office and checked the social media feed of the couple. Neil was the one who was scrolling through the couple's feed, and some of their friends and other connections. I stood right behind him and watched him look at every feed that we could see. The couple looked happy and they have friends who were supportive of their relationship.
I looked into my camera and stared at every photo that I took at that wedding. I stared at the newly wed couple and they looked really beautiful and happy together. The woman has brunette locks of hair with a huge smile on her face while the man is skinny, has tanned skin and has a chiseled face structure. They both looked good together with all of these pictures. Then a picture of Neil who was standing at the buffet, looking sad among the crowd. And I wonder what are those reaso
I was busy watching tv and eating some snacks when I received a text message. I glanced at it and saw it was a message from an unknown recipient.
I went to the campus wearing a red tee and mom jeans that were paired with white rubber shoes. It was three in the afternoon and the hallway that I ran through was almost empty, probably because the students have ongoing classes around this time.
When I got home, I immediately searched those people on a social media platform. I searched Sarah and Alex first since they were going to the same school. Then I looked up their mutual friends. I tried looking for them based on their looks and their first names that we eavesdropped earlier. Also, if they were tagged on a post that was related to the annual event of the campus. And there, I found Sera and Paulo. They have a picture together with smiles on their faces. They really looked cute together and very close. The man is really good looking, compared to that guy that Sera was with earlier. Sera looks happy in all these pictures. But sometimes, you really can’t
Reaching to Paulo, I tapped on his shoulder after being hesitant for a while. He turned around and his brows turned into a quizzical frown. He must be wondering who I am to tap his shoulder like we're close friends."Hi! Um... so," I paused, thinking how I should ask about Sera. Damn! I should've tho
We could tell from looking at Paulo's face that he was confused while reading Sera's letter to us. We asked him to come over to the Fixing Hearts Request or FHR office to talk to him about the letter. We know it should be confidential from the recipient, since she didn't even introduce herself in the letter. But we think this is the best way to solve this mystery.
I stared at the messages of me and John, thinking about what I should do on a date, which is tomorrow.“Should not try to stare too much. Should always smile and giggle—“ I said out loud while I’m reading the article on the internet with my laptop. Because I got occupied with
Chapter 39After Jessel left the mansion, we decided to let her stay at my house for a while. It was a bit overwhelming to her at first since she was used with simple households. But she got through it eventually. And we became best bestfriends because
We were standing at the office as John closed the door behind us. Mr. Kronos took a seat on his desk, wearing a frown on his face.
“Ella! Wait!”Jessel wasn’t able to stop me until we arrived at the mansion. She chased
Me and Jessel met at a coffee shop. We took a table where there were no people around. She was wearing her sunglasses since the sun was a bit strong and it was a good thing that there was an umbrella above us so we're not bothered too much with the sun's heat.
I didn't tell Neil that I got fired from the job. In fact, I've been lying to him through the texts.Neil
Chapter 34I was woken up when I didn't hear the car's engine anymore. I wiped my saliva that fell from my mouth as I got up from leaning against the window and looked everywhere. I noticed that we were parked in front of my house and Neil was grinning
The touch of his soft lips wrapped against mine as my eyes closed while I felt his hand slid on my cheek, warming me up. It felt like the whole world around us stopped and the kiss took slow as I could feel his lips. When our lips slowly parted, our eyes slowly opened as I held his gaze into mine. My heart was racing as I felt my cheeks blushed and my whole body warmed. It was a soft and gentle kiss. And it is my first time.
We arrived at the movie theater and watched the movie Mulan. We enjoyed the movie since we were both fans of it.
Weekend has passed and it was the day for me and Neil to meet at the mall to watch another movie that we have been waiting for. I dressed up in a blue blouse and denim skirt with combat boots. Tied my hair into a bun then wore a lip tint and powdered my face a little bit. I stared at myself through the mirror and I realized that I just made myself a bit too pretty, just for Neil. I mean, why not?
