Chapter 312 - Memories and guilt

On the other side of the world, a man slept on a hard bed, frowning and muttering unintelligible words.

His fair triangular face was full of sweat.

He woke up with a start and panted heavily.

Tossing his blanket aside, he slowly walked, feeling the surroundings with his hands.

After slow pacing, he reached the bed on the other side of the room.

He caressed the round face of a woman who closed her big eyes just as he touched her.

He caressed her sharp nose and plump lips.

“I am so sorry. I could not protect you. When I close my eyes, I see you asking me where our baby is.” The man whispered.

The woman was listening intently and could barely hear him.

“Sometimes I feel lucky that I lost my eyes, for I do not have to see the questions and the accusations in your eyes. I love you.”

He held her hand and placed his head on the side of the bed. He sat on the floor and fell asleep.

The woman blinked her eyes and showed a satisfied smile.
