My mom wasn't to upset especially once I told her all about Jesse. She was actually excited for me. He was the only boy I have shown any interest in.
"I am happy for you Willow. However, there will be rules. For one no later than ten on school nights and eleven on the weekend." I smiled at her and agreed.
That was two weeks ago. Jesse and I have become the talk of the school. I was starting to see why he liked being part of the popular crowd but it was not me and he understood that. He never pushed me to be around his friends if I didn't want to.
"Hey babe you staying after for practice today?" Jesse took his spot beside me and pulled me closer to him.
"I can't today. I promised mom I would go home after school. She has some stuff being delivered." He flashed me his big puppy dog eyes and I laughed.
"Fine, but we have to run to my house right after practice." He smiled at me and then went into conversation with one of his football friends. I looked at Beth and she rolled her eyes making me laugh.
"So Beth how is the play coming along?"
"Oh Willow it is turning out great. I still can't believe I got the lead. It is a lot of work though. I have rehearsal after school today. Maybe I can come by tomorrow and we can run lines." I nodded at her.
"Of course. I think mom has to be at work early tomorrow morning but you know she doesn't mind you being there."
After school I made it to the bleachers and watched Jesse and the team practice. Well I sort of watched. I had a big project due in history so I was sort of watching Jesse and studying at the same time. When practice was over I walked to the locker room area and waited for Jesse.
"Well, well isn't it our beloved captains little girlfriend." I knew who it was his voice had never left my mind. I turned and sure enough Hathaway stood there. His smirk still made me shudder as he came closer to me.
"Look you know that if you mess with me that Jesse is going to kill you. So just go before he comes out here and sees you." He pushed closer to me making me back into the lockers behind me. His eyes were a weird color. They were almost a yellow color.
He ran his nose up the side of my face almost like he was sniffing me. "You smell so sweet. I can't wait to taste you." What the fuck? I needed to get away from him because he was really freaking me out now. As he got closer to me I kicked him in the groin and took off down the hall. I didn't even see Jesse as I ran right into him.
"Willow? What's wrong?" He wrapped his arms around me protectively.
"It's Hathaway. He had me cornered against the lockers again." Before I could say anything else Jesse let go of me and pushed me behind him.
"What the fuck is your problem Hathaway? I told you to stay away from my girl." The look in this man's eyes was far from normal. He had the most sinister smile on his face as he came charging at us.
Jesse pushed me back hard and braced himself for the attack. Nothing could have prepared either of us for what happened though. Hathaway ran into Jesse with such speed and force it was almost in human. Jess went flying back into the lockers. As he fell to the ground I could see an indent in the spot where he hit.
"Jesse!" I yelled out and started to run twords him but Hathaway was impossibly fast and was on top of Jesse in seconds. I started yelling for help as I watched in horror as he was ripping Jesse apart in front of me.
I had to do something but what could I do. My heart was racing at full speed and I started feeling weird. I had a burning and tingling feeling running the course of my body. I thought it was just the adrenaline as I started to run twords Jesse and this beast of a man. As I closed in on them I leaped at them.
I felt the trees fly past me as I ran. I didn’t know what was happening but I swore I could hear yelling. “Freak! Get out of here!”
“We don’t want you around here.”
“Die you freak.”
Their words rattled in my brain as I kept running. Not exactly what a sixteen year old girl wants to hear. I finally stopped running and didn’t know where I was. I couldn’t hear the voices anymore but then again I think they had stopped a long time ago.
What the hell had happened? Why couldn't I remember anything? The last thing I remember was running twords Jesse and Hathaway to help Jesse. Now I was being chased threw the forest and I was in different clothes. None of this made any sense. This all seemed like a dream. Maybe I had passed out from shock and I was dreaming. That had to be it.
I heard what sounded like voices in the distance. I jumped up and took off running again. How did they find me so quick. I was always the fastest runner in school which was why I was the captain of the track team. I felt alive when I ran like I was meant to be free and run wild. That sounds ridiculous I know but I just felt right whenever I ran.
I could feel something changing inside me as I kept running. It was the same feeling I had earlier before... I shook my head and kept running. The feeling kept getting stronger and then like last time I felt something changing and then darkness took over my body.
I woke to the sound of someone or something moving around. I opened my eyes and that's when all reality set in. I hadn't been dreaming and I was completely naked now. I was in a cave and someone was moving around at the front. I moved into the shadows as quickly as I could. I watched as a young man entered the cave. He looked around and then started to leave. At that moment my damn body decided it wanted to sneeze. I let out a sneeze and it echoed. The young man turned around and walked in further. He pulled out a flashlight and turned it on.
I quickly backed as far back as I could. I was to embarrassed to let him see me. He was shining his light around but luckily he couldn't see me. He looked around a little more and then finally left. Before he was completely out of sight I saw him place a bag on the ground by the entrance to the cave. Then he turned back one last time. "I mean you no harm. If it gets too cold out here my family and I live just over the hill."
He then disappeared into the woods. I waited for a little bit and then made my way up to the bag he had left behind. It had an amazing aroma coming from it as I untied the bag. I looked inside and there was some plastic containers filled with some food and also some water bottles and clothes.
My stomach growled at the thought of food. I hadn't eaten since lunch yesterday and it was still cold out. I wasn't sure if I could trust him but what other choice did I have. I needed to eat and then gather some wood for a fire. I didn't have enough trust to go to his house but I figured at least if the food was poisoned I would die out here.
I pulled the food out and set it to the side. I grabbed the clothes and put them on. They were a little big but they were warm. I ate half of the food and decided to save some for later. I wasn't sure what I would do once the food was gone but I was a smart girl I'm sure I could find food. I slowly made my way out of the cave and looked around. I didn't see anyone so I cautiously started to explore my surroundings and gather wood for a fire.
I didn't know if I should stay put or keep moving. I figured I could stay one more night here and then it would probably be best if I left. I had no idea what had really happened yesterday but I was sure that I couldn't go home. The thought of being alone made me start to panic. Would I ever be able to go home?
I took a deep breath and calmed myself. Willow you need to stay calm and figure out where you are and exactly what happened. I said to myself. I gathered the wood and took it back to the cave. The rocks and branches were hurting my feet so I rested inside the cave for a while.
Alright Willow think. How do you start a fire? I placed some of the wood in pile and then gathered some rocks from around the cave and build a circle around the wood. I had been in girl scouts when I was younger and I started to remember what they had taught us. I needed to find two smooth rocks so I could possibly be able to hit them together and cause a spark.
I looked around and found two rocks that I felt would work. I went back to the fire pit and started to tap the rocks together. At first I wasn't getting any sparks and I was starting to get fustrated. I tapped them harder and saw a spark fly at the wood. I kept going and after a few more hits the wood caught.
I watched the fire carefully to make sure it didn't go out or get to big. Although being inside the cave there wasn't anything for it to catch fire to. After a while I noticed the sun was starting to go down. I figured I should try and get some rest if I was going to leave in the morning. I pulled out the rest of the food the man had left and finished it.
I decided I would leave the containers by the front of the cave in the morning. I placed some more wood on the fire and the curled up next to it. I closed my eyes and that's when the nightmares started.
Dream sequence...
The blood was all over as I looked down at my hands. I was covered in it and didn't know why or how. "What in the hell?"
I turned to see one of my fellow classmates. She was staring at me and then back behind me. The pure shock on her face was terrifying. I looked behind me and that's when I saw his body. He was a mangled but I knew who he was. I screamed out only it wasn't a scream it came out as a howl. Like an actual wolf howl. I covered my mouth as I turned back to see more of my classmates.
They all looked at me in shock and then someone threw something. "Murderer! Freak!" I stood up and ran through the crowd. I could feel them throwing things and then I could hear them starting to chase me.
"Call the police."
"She's getting away."
"Get the freak."
I kept running not realizing what had happened or that I was naked. I ran out of the school and that's when I bumped into my friend Beth.
"Oh my god Willow. What happened? Why are you naked?"
"I'm naked?" I looked down and sure enough I was naked. She handed me her jacket. I heard the others coming quickly behind me so I took off twords home. I had to get out of here. I had no idea what happened but I knew I couldn't stay here.
I made it home and luckily my mother was at work. I ran upstairs and straight to my bedroom. I grabbed some clothes and then went into the bathroom. I quickly washed the blood from my hands and face and then got dressed. I heard cars pulling up out front and could hear the voices yelling again.
I ran down the stairs and heard them beating on the front door. "Come out freak!" They yelled as they continued to beat on the door. My only choice was out the back. I ran through the kitchen and out into the back yard. We had a small wood fence then nothing but forest behind us. I ran across the yard as I heard them break down the front door. I cleared the fence without even thinking about it.
I kept running and didn't look back. The voices slowly fading away. When I looked down I was no longer human I was in all fours and covered in a white fur. When I came to a stream I stopped and looked at the monster I was. I looked into the eyes of a wolf.
End dream sequence...
I woke in a cold sweat and the echo of my scream was still sounding in the cave. It was just starting to get light out and my fire had all but died out. I still was a bit out of it when I heard the steps coming twords the cave entrance again. Once again I backed up into the shadows and watched as the same young man appeared. He was a sight. I hadn't taken the chance yesterday to look at him because I was to worried he would see me. The man stood probably six foot. He had short blonde hair and from what I could see he had a nice build. He was muscular but not overly muscular. Today he had on just a black tank top and shorts. I could make out the hint of a tattoo on his chest. How he wasn't freezing I had no idea.He placed another bag by the entrance of the cave. He looked around and saw the containers from yesterday sitting by the fire pit I had built. "I know you are scared but if you decide to come out I promise I won't hurt
Willow's POV...I could hear voices around me but I couldn't seem to open my eyes. I thought that I had to be dead. "Dad I don't know what else to do. She should have woke up by now." The voice sounded familiar but I wasn't sure who it was."Luke she will wake when she is ready. You saved her son. Besides look she has all but healed and it has only been a few days. You know what that means." I didn't hear the response as I fell back into the darkness.I don't know how much longer I was out but this time I was finally able to actually open my eyes. I slowly opened them and the light was overly bright. Maybe I was in a hospital. Once my eyes adjusted I looked around. I definitely wasn't in a hospital but it looked like I was in someone's house.I heard a small noise in the corner of the room. I turned my head and that's when I saw him. It was the young man that had been bringing food to t
Luke's POV...I still was trying to grasp everything that had happened in the last few weeks. From the moment Willow had entered our land I had a pull to her. I could feel everything she was feeling. She was scared and didn't know what had happened to her. I knew the answers to some of her questions but I couldn't just come out and say hey you're a wolf.No. She had to figure it out on her own. For some reason she was blocking out her transformation. My father had said that something dramatic had happened when she first shifted and that was why she was blocking it. I just wish I knew what had happened so I could help her.I also was very concerned about the creature I had seen almost attack Willow. I hadn't yet told my parents about it because I wasn't sure if I had seen it correctly. Who am I kidding? My eyesight is the best when I am in my wolf form. I did know what I saw and that means trouble. My
Luke's POV...It's been two weeks since Willow finally realized what she was. She is impressive and a quick learner. The more time we spend together the stronger the pull is between us. I know she can feel it to but I don't think she knows what it means. I don't want to freak her out by just coming out and saying anything about it.My parents had explained it to me when I was sixteen. It is in our blood to find our one mate. When you find that person you can feel everything they feel, and when you mate the connection is unbelievable. There are stories of elders in the community that have been able to feel and hear their mate over thousands of miles once they have mated. I don't know how true those stories are but so far everything else that has been told to me has all been true."Come on Luke I want to go for a run." Her sweet voice called out to me from the front door. We still haven't explained everything
Willow's POV..."Jesse!" My scream woke me again but this time I wasn't alone."Who's Jesse?" Luke's voice sounded hurt as he sat at the end of my bed. I sat up sweat dripping down my face. I rubbed my eyes and then looked right into his."He was a boyfriend I had back when I was in school. Something horrible happened to him." Was all I offered. I felt the tears sting my eyes as I tried to fight them back. I knew that he was dead but I just didn't know if I had killed him."Do you remember what happened to him?" Damn I was hoping he wouldn't question it."I heard he was attacked by an animal but it was after I left." The sting in my heart when I lied to Luke was almost unbearable. I wanted to tell him everything I remembered, everything I was dreaming but I couldn't. Not yet at least. Even though I was trusting him and his family more and more I still didn't know wh
An hour later the lunches were all made and the children were starting to arrive. The church just happened to serve as the local daycare as well. They had about ten kids in the morning and then about another ten or so that came after school. There was one other woman that helped with the daycare. Her name was Sierra and she was in her mid thirties.Sierra was just as kind as Grace was. When she first met me she immediately embraced me in a big hug. "Oh you poor thing. I'm so glad that Grace found you." I wasn't use to the kindness of these people. I was defensive at first but after a few hours I was getting use to it.At about three the pastor arrived. He was a man in his forties. He was just as kind as Grace and Sierra. "Why hello. Who do we have here Grace?""Oh hello pastor Wilson. This is Addison. She is our new helper." Pastor Wilson reached out his hand to shake mine."Hello Addison."&n
Luke's POV...I have been on my own for three months now. I had followed Willow's scent as far as I could but then she made sure that I lost it. She was a smart girl for sure and it kind of made me laugh a little bit when I realized what she had done. Now though I was just searching every town I came across. I had just crossed over the Canadian border when her scent filled my nose."Willow." I reached out hoping she would answer me but I got nothing. I followed her scent to a small town a few miles from the border. It seemed like a quiet little place to hide out at. It was just before dawn so I decided to wait for a few hours and then head into the town. I didn't have to wait that long to see her though. As I started to settle in under one of the trees her scent filled my nose again and strong. I heard something coming twords me and before I could move she ran right into me. We both tumbled down a small hil
Demetris POV...I sat in silence watching my family, if that's what you want to call us, devour our latest kill. Cleo was licking her fingers as she slowly approached me. "Come play with us Demetris. I know you are thirsty." When she reached me she stuck one of her blood covered fingers in my mouth allowing me to suck it clean. She smiled sadistically at me as the blood still ran down her lips."Mmm but my dear you have taken the fun out of the hunt. You have killed them all." I pointed behind her at the carnage left in the small alley. She smirked innocently at me and I had to admit her dark red eyes held my attention for a moment. I pushed a piece of her raven hair behind her ear as the night air whisked through the alley bringing forth a scent of fear. I looked up from Cleo's eyes and saw the young woman at the end of the alley."Ahhh see new prey for you my sweet." Cleo dashed down the alley with
Demetris POV..."Where have you been Jonas?" He looked up at me as he walked into the hotel room."I had something to talk to the Order about. Don't worry about it." His tone was a little aggressive but Jonas has always been that way. I let it go but it made me question what he was hiding from me."Are you ready to go home?" I questioned. He simply nodded at me as he walked over and grabbed his bag. Dante had been by early and notified me that we were to go back to the states and keep eyes on Willow and the others."Did Dante say how long until we make a move?" I shook my head."He just said that we would be notified." It was just the way The Order worked. We probably won't know they are coming until they show up. Unless we call them with a problem. Jonas just shrugged and then we headed out.I hated the wait but in the end it would be worth it. I
Willow's POV..I woke up to being smothered by Luke's arms. He has been super attentive since Samuel showed up. Everyone seems to agree that we need to go with him to his pack. I, on the other hand, am still a little bit guarded. Maybe I am just being stubborn but the man just shows up out of nowhere saying he is my father. Then tells us that we are all in danger and expects us to just fall in line and go with him.I was finally able to wiggle my way from under Luke and made my way to the kitchen. It was still super early and no one was awake yet. I started the coffee and then grabbed a cup. Once I made my cup I went and sat out on the porch. The cool air felt amazing as it hit my hot skin. That was something I was still getting use to. Never getting cold is nice but sometimes I miss just wrapping up in a blanket and sitting out on the porch.I guess I was lost in thought because I didn't even notice Samuel come out. He
Demetris POV....I looked down at the city from the hotel room we were staying in. We had only been here for a few hours and I was already having second thoughts about doing this. Jonas had assured me that this was the only option and that The Order wouldn't hurt Willow once I explained to them what she was.The people moved below me swiftly as the night air started to turn. A storm was coming and quickly. It was perfect for a good hunt but it was against the rules to hunt here. If I wanted to have a good meal then I would have to travel to the next town over.As vampires we didn't have many rules but when you were in the land that belongs to The Orde
Demetris POV...The anger flowed through me as I watched her mate herself with the wolf. She should be mine. I was so close to making her realize she was a beautiful monster like me. "Demetris we should go. If they find us out here we are no match for all of them. We need to meet with Jayden and maybe recruit some help if you want to take on the pack." Jonas's hand touched my shoulder and I slowly turned away from the sight."Recruit who Jonas? I haven't found many of our kind that will go against wolves." A smile spread across his face. There are a few and you do know where they are. I slowly realized who he was talking about and quickly shot it down."No. They would kill them all including Willow. I don't want her dead I want her for myself.""She has chosen her path Demetris. Even if you kill her mate she will never be yours now. Especially since you killed her mother." I lashe
Luke's POVHaving her so close to me now was just proving more and more that we are meant to be with each other. That damn vampire might think he wants her but he will never get close to her again. There was a soft knock at the bedroom door and I reluctantly pulled myself away from her. I walked over to the door and opened it. Sonya was standing there with a worried look on her face."Kane needs to talk to you." I nodded and closed the door behind me softly. I followed her down the hall and into his office."Luke we may have a problem." Kane said immediately. I looked at him and just knew what he was going to say. "Jordan and Reagan didn't make it to
Demetris POV..."Did you get the things I told you to get?" I looked at Jaden who was putting some bags on the table."Yeah. So when are we leaving?""At dark. Does Jonas know where to meet us?" Jaden nodded. My phone dinged and I looked at it. I smiled Jonas had sent me my insurance policy just in case my little savage didn't want to go with us. I walked back to her room and she was sleeping. Unlike us she still held human traits like sleeping and eating food."Willow my dear I need you to get up." Her eyes fluttered open and she stared at me like she was trying to process where she was. She sat straight up and backed away."What is it?" She asked looking at me with those beautiful eyes of hers."I need you to get dressed and pack your belongings. We have to leave tonight." She looked confused."Why do we have to leave?"
Willow's POV...When I came to this time I was no longer chained and I was laying on a very soft and comfortable bed. I was wearing a silk nightgown and was alone. I sat up and looked around for an escape but there was no windows. Think Willow how can you get out of this?I heard someone unlocking the door and I stood ready to attack if I needed to. I waited and as the door opened I leaped at whoever it was shifting in mid air. I knocked the dark haired woman Cleo down as I jumped off of her and ran out the door. I was still in the same cabin and as I made it to the front door someone slammed into me.I stood and looked at him. It was Jonas and he just kept smiling at me. "Why are you trying to run away princess? You do know that you are a monster right?" I just stared at him as he stood between me and the door. I could take him down but I also knew there were more vampires around.
Demetris POV..."Why the fuck would you bring her here Demetris?" Cleo hissed."Because it is my choice. I am the one who makes the choices for us. If you don't like it there is the door." I hissed right back at her. Apparently she has forgotten who is in charge. She didn't back down though and I have to admit it is hot when she is angry."We don't need werewolves coming after us." She stood right in my face as she hissed this. The words almost like venom as they shot from her lips. I smiled at her and started to laugh. "What is so funny?" She asked."You my dear. You don't give a fuck about the werewolves coming. You are just jealous. You still don't seem to understand that I may have created you but that doesn't mean we are bonded like that. I will have whoever I want and you will respect my decision or you can leave." I was now towering over her full of anger. She cower
Willow's POV...I thrashed against the chains holding me to the wall. "Let me go you stupid fuckers." I heard a familiar laugh and as he appeared I started to lose my control. His hair was in that perfect way he had it the last time I saw him. His eyes just as dark and his frame was maybe even a little bit bigger than I remembered."Now now sweetness is that anyway to act twords an old friend." He purred at me. He walked up to me and put his nose in my hair. Making me want to vomit at just the thought of him being so close to me."You're no friend of mine Hathaway, you psycho stalker. You did it didn't you?""Did what beautiful?""You killed Jesse." He let out a loud laugh and I felt myself losing it more and more. He had no remorse at all but then again he was pure evil."Come on angel come out and play with us. Show us all your true form." Tru
