Chapter Forty-Nine - A Bitter Face-off

Zephyrus’ POV

I felt relieved after the phone call, knowing I could count on Hazel. I wanted Lena to accompany me, but Hera’s behavior towards her worried me. Hera’s disturbed state stopped me from addressing the issue now, but if it continued, I would definitely have to deal with it. Lena was my fated mate, and I would always stand up for her. Even against my sibling if she was wrong.

We flew over the dark, looming, mountainous terrain towards Hay River in silence. Leandros and Lyra were exceptionally quiet since the time we boarded my helicopter. Hera relaxed considerably, opting to close her eyes and rest.

I wanted to meet Lena before I left, but with Leandros waiting outside, I couldn’t take the risk. I had expected Leandros to escape with Lyra. Anything was possible for him! I knew his reckless nature so well! Thankfully, he didn’t, or Hera would have driven me crazy.
