Low cries of pleasure and slapping of skin against skin could be heard even from outside Calvin's apartment. The young man was enjoying the sounds of his partner's moans, her energy and her willingness to pleasure him in return.
Though the room was air-conditioned, Calvin already got his partner sweating and moaning in ecstacy. He didn't even remember her name and though he described her as "hot", he didn't have any feelings for her. She was just one of the many girls that was smitten by his looks and ready to go down with him. Who was he to say no to that offer?
With each thrust, the voice in his head wouldn't stop. Even before he called "Hot"(as he saved her name on his phone) to come over, the voice was already trying to dissuade him.
Calvin already figured that whatever was talking in his head could read his mind, but he still ignored it. It had been a few weeks and the voice was ever present. He was worried about it at first, but he just told himself that the voice would go away the same way it came. All it talked about was finding a "mate" and the "others". Calvin couldn't comprehend what any of that meant.
At some point, Calvin had to block it all off. He drowned himself with school work, extracurricular activities and the sweet pleasures of a woman's body. Whatever was in his head was obviously against him being with women, but Calvin couldn't care less.
Spent, he rolled over the woman's body, panting and trying to block off the raging voice in his head.
"That was wonderful" the woman purred as she ran a finger over his chest.
Calvin had a satisfied smirk on his face. Of course he knew he was wonderful but the feeling of hearing a woman say it could never get old. It stroke his ego all the time.
"Want to go again?" The woman asked, batting her seductive eyes.
"Hell no!" Calvin heard in his head and he snickered at the thought of going again.
"You should go home" he told the woman. "I'll give you a call".
She looked disappointed but she smiled anyway and then leaned in to give him a kiss but Calvin quickly turned to avoid her lips. She ended up kissing his cheek and she didn't seem to mind that at all.
While she was busy getting dressed, Calvin noticed a flier sticking out of her bag. There was a photo of a full moon on it and that caught his attention.
"What's this?" He asked her he looked it over.
"That's a flier for the moonlight festival" the girl explained her she slipped her dress on. "It's common tradition here at Hayford academy... I don't know why. But the Chancellor's daughter, Charlene would be the host".
The sides of Calvin's lips curved up in a smile. He had already made a decision in his heart that he was going to attend this festival. There was no way he was going to pass up any chance of getting close to Charlene.

"What's going on here?" Rufus asked as he joined the others who were looking into a computer screen.
"Phiri had a vision" Lucille informed him without taking her eyes off the computer. "She found the Alpha wolf".
"You did?" Rufus asked Phiri and she nodded.
"In my vision, the moon goddess permitted him to inhabit the body of a human" Phiri explained.
"A human?!" Rufus asked in shock. "What sort of mockery is this? I thought he would be roaming free".
"Rufus, you shall speak respectfully" Lucille said gravely. "This is the grand alpha we're talking about".
"I don't know if we can still call him that, judging by the fact that he's now occupying the body of a mere human" Rufus argued.
"Found him!" Mark suddenly announced.
"What do we have here?" Rufus asked as he also looked into the computer screen. "Who's the young man?"
"He's the one from my vision" Phiri answered. "The Alpha is in his body".
"This guy??" Rufus asked in unbelief.
"Phiri made a sketch and we ran it through the database" Lucille said.
"His name is Calvin Moss" Mark read from the computer. "He's a business student at Hayford. Transferred recently, but there is no information about his background".
"I like that he has a touch of mystery surrounding him" Phiri smiled.
"We don't need a pretty boy to be our Alpha" Rufus was indignant. "Look at him! I don't see a werewolf! I see a pimp!"
"You will watch your language, Rufus!" Lucille glared at the man and he snarled in response.
"What are we going to do?" Mark asked Lucille who was ready to fight with Rufus over this.
"There is no reason to stall" Lucille said. "It's been weeks since we lost Roman and now that we have found his wolf, we should go and get him. Knowing the alpha wolf, he probably has this young man thinking he has gone mad. It is up to us to make him understand what he now is and his new responsibilities. The zealots haven't attacked since Roman... None, except four of us, are aware of his death. The werewolf community and even the zealots are probably waiting for us to announce it. The moon goddess has been benevolent. We should take advantage of it".
"Your point is?" Rufus asked with a deep frown.
"My point is", Lucille turned to look Rufus in the eyes. "Keep that attitude to yourself and get your gear because gentleman, we are going to Hayford".
Calvin did make it to the moonlight festival and he dragged Tony along. He didn't understand the whole concept of this festival but he observed that it was all similar to a camping activity. They were somewhere in the mountains, closer to nature, there was a bonfire, a smoothie stand, available food and water for everyone, slow music playing, everyone was dressed informally and most importantly, the full moon was shining so bright. Something about that gnawed at Calvin's insides and it made him unsettled."I can't believe you brought me here because of a woman" Tony complained. "Stop whining" Calvin nudged him at the side. "Have some fun. Mingle. It's better than sitting here and sulking like an entitled toddler". "Pfft" Tony huffed. He ignored his friend as he looked around, hoping to see something that would catch his interest. "Here she comes" Calvin suddenly said and Tony turned to see Charlene making her way to the other side of the bonfire which was right in the middle. Cal
The air in her father's office was suffocating. Charlie took a deep breath as she closed the door behind her. She had been summoned here and the fact that her brother, Adrian was present too didn't ease her raging nerves. What could possibly be the problem now? Their father never summons them like this except it was very important.Sitting behind an expensive mahogany desk, John Hayford sat with his fingers clasped together. His gaze was fixated on a sheet of paper in front of him. Charlie didn't know if he was looking into the paper or he was just lost in thoughts. The man was exuding a dangerous aura and at times like these, his children preferred to give him stay away. It was why Charlie couldn't just understand why her brother was here in the first place."Father?" She mustered courage and called his attention when the silence dragged on for too long. "You sent for me?"The man slowly raised his eyes but he didn't look at her. He looked at his son instead. Adrian was so uncomforta
"Roman's body disappeared". The words kept echoing in Lucille's head as she tried to understand what had just been reported. How could Roman's body disappear? He was already dead and the Pentagon had been so busy with finding his wolf that they had delayed the cremation of his body. "Lucille" Phiri called. "Are you there?""Yes. Yes, I'm here" the woman assured her even though her mind was all jumbled up at the moment. She didn't know what to do and she could only imagine how the other werewolves would react once they found out about this. They hadn't been informed about Roman's death."Don't tell this to anyone, Phiri" she said into the phone in all seriousness. "We're on our way back".With that, she hung up the phone and quickly turned to face Calvin who had the most impatient look on his face. She knew she had to convince him to go back with her in anyway possible. If Roman's body had really gone missing then, it means someone other than the Pentagon knew that he was already dea
Awesome! Calvin thought as he made his way into the building that served as the official headquarters of the Pentagon. It was a high rise building and the architectural design was marvelous. The building obviously served as an office complex and using the elevator, Lucille and the others took Calvin to the topmost floor. At the entrance of the room they entered, Calvin read the restricted area sign and he could only wonder who these people really were. From what he could see, they had a lot of money and he wondered if they were a secret organization that controlled the economy. While he was feeding his eyes on the conference room they had just entered, they stumbled on a beautiful young woman who had confusion plastered on her face. Calvin observed how she suddenly smiled at the sight of him. Being who he was, he smiled back, flashing his pearly whites. "What happened?" Rufus broke the silence in his usual gruff voice. "Before that, we need to make introductions" Lucille interru
"That voice you've been hearing in your head... That's the Alpha wolf." With Lucille's explanations, anyone would believe that Calvin got the answers to the questions that he had come with, but that was not the case. More questions plagued his mind and he was wondering how this development would now affect his life. "So, what is expected of me?" He really wanted to know. He had just found out what these people were and what it had to do with him. This was more complicated than he had imagined, but he wanted to understand everything. "The werewolf race is in danger of extinction" Lucille informed him. "We're being hunted by a group of werewolf eradicators who call themselves Zealots. These people wouldn't stop till the race of Lycanthropes are completely extinguished from the face of the Earth. Thing is, Roman had this master plan he had come up with to save our race but he died before he could share it with us." "So there are people who are aware of your existence?" Calvin asked
"Just as you instructed, I drove the dagger into his heart. Yes, he did manage to get away but there was is no way he could have survived that wound." Those words kept echoing in John Hayford's head as he stared at the dagger lying on the table in front of him. It was the very weapon that had been used to stab Roman and the wound had supposedly led to his death. If Roman was really dead, his wolf was supposed to die with him. And if it did, who was the young man that Adrian had seen? The man picked up the weapon and observed it. Roman's blood was still on it. John was going to use this to prove to all the werewolves that his men had killed the Grand Alpha, but after what Adrian had seen, the man had to put all his plans on hold. He needed to find out the deal with this Calvin. Only then would he understand why The Pentagon was keeping Roman's death a secret. While he sat, observing the blade, Charlie walked in. Her steps were light as she was moving in stealth. She was yet to noti
Before noon the next day, Calvin found himself at a park, leaning on a tree trunk , waiting for Charlene. The air was humid and though the sun was high up in the sky, the trees provided shade, covering the grounds. Though this was meant to be a relaxation spot for students of Hayford, many preferred not to patronize it for reasons best known to them. Rumors had it that a student had been mauled to death by strange beasts on the lawn while some claimed that the place simply gave off an eerie feel.Calvin could spot a few daring couples who had come to make out. It was the perfect spot for that. There was an abundance of trees and a river flowed through the park, keeping the place at a cool temperature.Staring at his wristwatch, Calvin could see that it was already noon. It was the time Charlene had agreed to see him in this very place. He had even come fifteen minutes earlier just to make sure that the rumors about the place weren't true. He had been waiting for a while and so far, h
Calvin ignored Lucille's question. Even he didn't know what he was doing here. Being the Alpha, his wolf couldn't ignore the distress howl of another werewolf and here he was. Since he couldn't help the situation, Calvin was now concerned about the numerous stares he was getting from the people. He didn't like being the center of attention in this place so he asked to see Lucille at a corner. "Is this some sort of werewolf community?" He asked her."This is my Pack" she responded. "I thought it was best for all of them to be on one place so that they could defend themselves in case of an attack.""I don't think that's working" Calvin pointed out."I can see that" Lucille said with a sigh. She was wearing a signature long coat and she tucked her hands into the pockets with a drawn countenance. For the first time, Calvin observed that she didn't have her usual confident look. "Are you alright?" He asked out of concern."No," she confessed. "That mother is mourning her only two child
The struggling sounds ceased when Ivy got to the entrance of the building. She touched her back to feel her injury, but it was not completely healed. She knew she had to be careful as the wound made her vulnerable. She could go into shock if she bled anymore so she threaded carefully.Inside the building, Ivy gasped when she saw Adolphus's head detached from his body. She didn't know how to feel about what she was seeing. Adolphus, leader of the zealots and the origin of everyone's problems was finally dead. She quickly turned her head when she heard heavy breathing coming from the opposite direction. When she saw that it was Roman, she quickly ran to him and held him in her arms. She looked him over and saw that he was seriously wounded. Ivy figured that it was Roman that had killed Adolphus. Way to go, she thought proudly. He didn't use to be grand alpha for nothing."Shh. Shh. Shh", she whispered when he tried to say something. She wanted to encourage him by telling him that he wo
As the coven of witches storms the premises, the atmosphere crackles with tension. The werewolves, sensing danger, prepare to defend themselves. Knowing that werewolves draw their strength from the moon, the witches draw clouds over it, hiding it's light.Diana had given the witches an explicit order before this night. They were to invade the premises and put an end to the werewolf race if anything were to happen to her. The women of the coven sensed that their leader was already dead and so, they planned on carrying out her order. The moon, hidden behind dark clouds, casts an eerie shadow over the grounds, adding to the already intense atmosphere."They're here", Phiri mutters as she rises to her feet. Even Adolphus and Roman were now looking in the direction of the gates, while Calvin was more concerned about Ivy. She was still unconscious so he couldn't care less about the presence of witches. The witches, adorned in their mystical cloaks and wielding powerful spells immediately la
Calvin still didn't understand all the screaming and running that was going on around him. He also didn't realize that Diana had just saved his life and was even killed in the process. He had just taken his hand off Ivy's back because it felt wet and when he looked at it, he saw blood. He looked at Ivy and saw that she was unconscious. He shook her gently but he got no response.Calvin called out her name in a whisper, but she still move. He wished her eyelids would just move or even a low moan would have sufficed, but he got nothing.Ivy's unresponsiveness made Calvin panic. He knew that she was still alive but it wouldn't remain that way if she continued losing so much blood. And the fact that he didn't know what to do in order to save her made him feel useless."Help", he wanted to scream, but the words got stuck in his throat. He only breathe a sigh of relief when Lucille and Phiri came to him, both kneeling by his side."Please save her", he pleaded. He was literally begging but
Ivy wasn't sure who the target of Calvin wrath was. There was Roman, who was standing in front of him, acting like a live shield for the second possible target, Diana. The witch was definitely in Calvin's bad books. Irrespective of anything, Ivy didn't want either of the targets to get hurt. While she considered Diana to be the closest thing she had to a mother, there was also Roman who she had shared her first friendhip with. Though he obviously wasn't himself, she still didn't want anything to happen to him. Therefore, she tried to reach out to Calvin's mind again. She really wished that it would work this time, but it didn't. It felt like he had shut the doors to his mind and reasoning that even she couldn't get through."I think we have to evacuate", Ivy heard Lucille whisper. "Because we really don't know how dangerous one attack from him would be."Ivy looked around at all the people. Many of them had shifted into wolves as they could perceive the danger lurking with the formi
The moon hung high in the night sky, casting an eerie glow over the quiet city. From where he was, suspended up in the air, Calvin looked down to the werewolves. He saw them as ferocious beasts which the world no longer needed. But then, there was another side of him that was like a soothing voice whispering in his head. It made him feel like he was one of them. One of the werewolves. For hours, Calvin had battled to maintain his sanity, but he could feel himself slowly losing it. His wolf was trying to accommodate his retrieved powers, but it was too much. Since it proved impossible, the alpha wolf was fighting the sorcery and it just felt like an internal battle.Being a wizard, Calvin was a master of arcane arts and he had dedicated the early years of his life to mastering the powers of magic which he possessed. However, even as powerful as he was, he could not bring himself to connect his powers with his wolf side. Why he was up in the sky, Calvin didn't know. He was unaware of w
Charlene's heart skipped a beat when she saw the Pentagon members. She was even more terrified when she locked eyes with Richard's brother, Mark. He obviously still bore a grudge against her for killing his brother and she instinctively drew back."Ivy" Lucille called, ignoring the presence of the Hayfords. "What happened? We've been waiting for you and Calvin.""He got his powers back. The tree died and he just lost control", Ivy explained. "He doesn't seem to recognize him and he was just roaming the forest all day."While Charlene was trying to make sense of what Ivy had just said, her brother snuck back into the premises to report the Pentagon's arrival to his father. "So that's what happened?" Rufus asked rhetorically as he looked up. "What could he be planning up there?""The question should be how do we get him down here?" Mark said as he looked away from Charlene and up into the sky. Phiri was quiet as she looked from Ivy to Charlene. The latter was supposed to be the succee
"There you are".Ivy slowly came out of hiding when Charlene called out to her. If she were to have it her way, she would have preferred to stay out of Charlene's way. With everything she had been through that day, she didn't have time for this drama.Ivy had been keeping an eye on Calvin ever since he regained his powers. Apparently, things had not turned out the way anybody would have expected. It all spiraled out of control and she was here make sure Calvin didn't hurt anybody.Just hours ago, when Calvin regained his powers, she had tried to talk to him but he had stared at her in a very strange way. She had searched his eyes, but there was no recognition of any sort. It appeared that he had been possessed by something. Everything about him felt different. His eyes, his gaze, his aura... It was all different but Ivy just couldn't describe it. All she knew was that something wasn't right with him.Calvin wasn't himself anymore but even at that, she had tried to get through to him
"I saw a vision this afternoon".Adrian turned to his sister with a curious gaze. They were still outside the Rex building and he wondered if she was sleep talking as she stared at her feet as she spoke. "Stop looking at me like that", she said and then sat up. "Well, I was checking to see if you were sleep talking", her brother responded. "I only did that when I was child", Charlene said with scoff. "I've outgrown that.""Okay. So how could you have had a vision when you havn't gotten any sleep?""I don't know", she answered with a shrug. "It just came to me. It wasn't a reality, so I just concluded that it was a vision.""Was it a good a one?" Adrian asked her. "The vision. What was it about?""In the vision, I saw..."Adrian turned to his sister when she remained silent for too long. She was staring up into dark sky, so he raised his head too, towards the big white moon. "I saw that", Charlene muttered. "What?" Adrian asked, turning to face her and then followed her line of si
The Pentagon members exchanged glances before turning their attention back to the phone screen. They had been following everything that was happening in front of the Rex building."Roman is making us look bad", Mark said. "He's lying to the people.""He's obviously not himself", Phiri said. "I think the witch has somehow manipulated him.""This is not good", Lucille added. "If they succeed in brainwashing everyone, then it's over.""Where is Calvin for heaven's sake?" Rufus growled. "It's been almost twenty four hours. We cannot do much on our own.""Patience", Phiri said with a sigh. "He'll come.""He'd better hurry up" Rufus said under his breath. *******Right outside the Rex building, Adolphus's children and his men stood on guard, mounting every corner of the place, fully prepared for every surprise. As expected, military vehicles soon arrived at the scene, demanding to know what was going on at such late hours. The zealots had their orders. They were to prevent any kind of int
