What's more embarrassing than fighting and screaming at someone trying to put you in a bath? Having another person watch you being manhandled like a child, and there was nothing you could do about it.

Jane ducked her head and brought her hand to her lips to hide the smile on her face as Mason carried a fighting Xenia to the tub. There were times when Xenia could slip away, and Jane couldn't help but giggle when Xenia found things to throw at Mason. After a few minutes, Mason finally got Xenia to the tub. He lowered her, teddy and all, into the water.

It was hot and soothing, and the moment her body hit the water, Xenia went utterly still. There was a sense of calm flowing through her body out of nowhere. All her worries disappeared, and nothing was left but peace. It scared but delighted her at the same time.

"See, that wasn't so bad now, was it," Mason huffed out before standing.

Xenia wanted to frown at him, but her body was too relaxed, and his voice was pleasant as she

Jane lifted the lid, and a cornucopia of smells filled Xenia's nose. She looked down at the plate of meats and veggies piled up and could feel herself salivating. She would've dug in, but the thought of Barrick poisoning her flashed in her mind. What if he did something to the food? She wondered, looking at Mason. "Eat," Mason ordered. "You're going to need your strength if you're going to continue to try to escape." She could see a faint smile on his face. Yeah, he definitely did something to it. She made a big show of pushing the plate away from her. Almost causing it to fall off the table. Jane rushed over to push the plate back to the middle before stepping back. Mason sighed. "Xenia-" "Don't," Xenia snapped at him. "Don't say my name like we're friends. You don't know me." Xenia turned away from him, and soon after, she could hear him moving toward her. Yes, come closer, you bastard! "You're right. I do not know you, but I could hear your hunger even from miles away." X

The moment the door closed, Xenia fell to the floor, a bit shaken. She took measured breaths to try to stop her body from trembling. She zoned out thinking about her situation until she felt a hand on her shoulder. She jumped, pulling her fist back, ready to pounce, when she realized it was Jane. The girl looked as white as a ghost, cowering away from Xenia. A momentary flash of guilt came across Xenia's face. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Luna," Jane shrieked. "I brought fresh food and water." Xenia didn't realize she had so much tension in her body, especially when he was around. Still, she didn't eat the food. Instead, she walked over to the bench and looked out the window. Her body felt hot, and the coldness of the pane was soothing. She waited a moment before addressing Jane. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to jump at you," Xenia said, walking over to the table. Jane gave her a small smile as Xenia looked at the food. She slowly started to eat, hoping that it was poison. That would be bett

  • Fearless Human Mate   The Sisters

Mason sat in a dark cave surrounded by lit candles. He has been here for hours trying to contact the Three Sisters. The room was moist from the spring running through the cave into a small waterfall leading outside. He took a knife to his palm, dropping his blood over the crystal inside the circle as he chanted. A moment later, the fire from the candle simmered down, and the only light came from the cave's entrance. Then suddenly, the flame from the candle exploded with dark shadows billowing around like a dance. Mason barely moved or showed any reaction to the display. "Ah, little Alpha Mason." "How sweet of you to call." "Missing us already." The shadow changed its appearance with each voice looming over him. He rolled his eyes, wanting this conversation to be over already. He didn't have time for pleasantries, nor did he like witches. They were…unreliable. Only a few weeks away from the Blue Moon, and he couldn't afford any distractions. "Aww…you didn't like our light displ

  • Fearless Human Mate   Impossible Task

Mason left the cave feeling irritated as thoughts of Xenia flashed in his mind. He remembered finding her lying across the floor the other day as if she had decided to nap there. Then he saw the box glowing on the table and wondered if she had done something to it. He stared at her for a moment. She looked so peaceful, with her hair framing her face.He picked her up and laid her back in bed. He pushed her hair out of her face and caressed a hand down to her cheek. She sighed and leaned into his hand. The pull of the bond was clouding his mind, making him want to lie beside her and hold her. But he had to quickly pull away before Rodin got any ideas. Now, the Sisters wanted him to mark her, which only meant their bond would become stronger and controlling Rodin would become more challenging. He sighed as he walked up the steps through the door leading to the packhouse from the caverns. He made sure it was locked before walking into his office. Not a moment after sitting down, his offi

Xenia opened her eyes and immediately tensed up when she felt a presence near her. She thought she saw him staring down at her, so she quickly sat up in bed, and the image disappeared. But, unfortunately, it did scare poor Jane, who was standing at her bedside. "Sorry, Luna. I was only trying to wake you." She walked to the front of the bed with her head hung low while Xenia climbed out. "I brought these clothes for you to wear. We are still working on getting some that fit better but-" A knock on the door interrupted Jane as she walked over to it and opened it. Xenia walked around the bed to see who she was talking to. Someone whispered something before Jane opened the door to let them in. "Luna." The woman bowed slightly before flocking over to Xenia with a tape measure. She quickly measured her before Xenia could get a word out. She wrote down everything in a little book before turning Xenia around to size her up. She stepped back to give Xenia one more look. "Hmm, more fabric,

  • Fearless Human Mate   The Need to Leave

Xenia remembered Lottie telling her about her mate, Spencer. There was something between them she couldn't explain, but she knew she wanted to be with him. Xenia thought it was love at first sight, but maybe it was this bond. It would explain the connection she had with Mason on their first encounter. How he takes over her mind when he enters a room, how her skin feels when he touches her, and the intensity in his eyes like he wants to… "No," Xenia yelled. "I'm not his mate!" She didn't care that all the women looked at her with shocked expressions. "And I'm not staying here to become one either." The women looked at each other before laughing, which made Xenia angry, ruining a few eggs. Lacey grabbed Xenia's chin and angled it at a diagonal. "Well, I don't see a mark, so that's good news. For now." "Mark? I don't understand." "Humans," Lacey said, rolling her eyes. "When a werewolf finds their mate, they mark them right here," Lacey said, touching her neck. "It's to let others k

  • Fearless Human Mate   You Don't Mean...

The next few days were the same routine for Xenia. She would wake up and work with the girls in the kitchen. They were talkative, and every day she would learn something new about them. However, they were still cautious about telling her where they were exactly. While helping the girls clean the tables after breakfast, Xenia noticed Mason's seat was empty the entire time. She looked around to see if she could find him. Instead, she saw Lillian walking her way and didn't have time to turn away. "Looking for someone in particular?" Xenia didn't respond and moved away, but Lillian grabbed her arm and pulled her close. She could feel Lillian's breath on her ear as Lillian whispered, "Remember what I told you, little cockroach." "Leave it up to you to not let me forget," Xenia muttered while yanking her arm away from Lillian. The two women stood a few feet apart, face to face, neither wanting to back down. The smile on Lillian's face made Xenia feel uneasy. There was no way she

It took her a moment to look at Lacey, whose smiling face was only a few inches away from hers. Lacey's mouth was moving, but Xenia wasn't paying attention. The only thing Xenia could picture was Mason forcing himself on her. Would he drug me like Barrick so I wouldn't fight? She wondered before another thought even worse than that came to her. Would he…OH GOD…would he shift? "I think you broke her," Lacey said to Frieda, trying to shake Xenia out of her mini coma. "Hey, girl. Did we break you or something?" "I…I have to get out of here," Xenia managed to say through her shaky breath. "Hey, hey, hey. It's gonna be okay," Lacey laughed a bit. "We're just kidding." Xenia looked at her again, searching her eyes for the truth. "Right?" Lacey looked at the other girls, who smiled and nodded. "I didn't mean to scare ya white, hon," Frieda said while laying a comforting hand on Xenia's shoulder. "Sex can be scary for the first time." "Frieda!" Celia playfully tapped Frieda on the

His expression snapped.“No,” he whispered, then louder, “What did you do?”Xenia barely had time to get to her feet before he lunged at her.“You ruined everything!” Mason bellowed, slamming into her and knocking her back. “She gave you everything! • Fearless Human Mate   The Conflict

Xenia woke up alone. The brothers were nowhere to be seen, so she decided to get ready for another perfect day. She got dressed, fixing her appearance in the mirror. The moment she looked away, the reflection turned to Melania, who smiled before disappearing. Xenia stared at her reflection before leaving.“Good,” Xenia said to herself. “Today’s going to be perfect.”Downstairs the brothers were in the kitchen with Delilah. Micah was unusually focused, slicing and arranging with the precision of a man on a mission. Mason was just as focused, carefully packing fruits and cheeses, and crusty bread into woven baskets. Delilah flitted about the kitchen like a hummingbird, humming a lullaby Xenia swore she hadn’t heard since childhood. They walked to the sea, just the four of them. The cliffs were painted with wildflowers, the ocean stretched endlessly, calm and blue. Xenia leaned into the breeze and tried not to think too hard. But something was wrong. She felt it when she reached for the

Melania kept her magic flowing into Xenia, but she felt herself losing strength. Micah stood before them, his presence blazing with power.Melania didn’t flinch. “Keep him away,” she said to Mason. “She’s so close to accepting her new reality. If he interrupts now, she might have the strength to fight back. I need time.”“He won’t understand,” Mason said.“Then make him,” she snapped. “I know you can.”“I won’t say it again,” Micah said, interrupting their conversation. “Get out of my way Mason.”“I can’t let you,” Mason said, his voice shaking with fury. “You took her away from me once. I won’t let it happen again!”Mason snarled, aura flaring to full strength as he launched forward. Micah’s wolf, Roman, collided with Mason in mid-air, the impact sending a shockwave through the spirit realm. Mason crashed to the ground, rolling once before skidding to a stop.“Damn you, Roman,” he spat, rising. “Do you have to interfere. This is between brothers.” Roman stood between him and Mason,

Xenia stood frozen as Mason held her waist, his touch gentle. This was the kind of moment a girl might fantasize about–the reformed villain pledging himself at her feet. But something about it soured in her gut. The air shimmered, just slightly, like heat rising off pavement. Mason’s skin was warm, too warm, feverish. And his voice… it wasn’t Mason’s. Not really.“I’m nothing without you,” he whispered, face pressed to her abdomen. “You saved me, Xenia. Don’t you remember?”“Mason, I…” Her throat constricted. It was suddenly hard to speak. Hard to think. But she could hear her mother and Micah returning–footsteps, laughter, too far and too close all at once. The sounds blurred, like a warped vinyl record.“I believe you,” she said quickly, trying to get him up but he tightened his arms around her.“You know I can tell when you’re lying,” he said, eyes flicking up to hers. There was a flicker–just for a second–where his eyes changed, glitching like bad film. A blink later and they were

Blood and ash thickened the air as Alpha Micah and the group made their way through the packhouse and towards the ritual grounds. The howls of distant wolves still echoed, but for now, the area had settled into a tense, almost eerie silence. Laurie floated down from a treeline, black eyes turning back to her usual color, her expression grim. “More guards than we thought,” she whispered. “And that’s just the outer ring. Inside the ritual circle, we’ve the Three Sisters.”Micah’s jaw tightened. “The Three Sisters?”Laurie nodded. “They’re channeling the ritual. It’s working. Xenia’s… already changing.”“What do you mean changing?” Delilah asked, panic rising in her voice.Micah placed a firm but comforting hand on Delilah’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, Miss Delilah. It’s not over yet.” Then, turning back to Laurie, he asked, “Can we get past them?”Laurie nodded. “They’re powerful, but we can get rid of them if we destroy the effigy tethering them here.”A chilling scream cut through the ni

In the cozy kitchen of her family home, Xenia found herself caught in a comical, slightly awkward situation as she sat down to breakfast. Her mother sat across from her with her chin resting on her clasped fingers. Delilah’s eyes darted between the two brothers she forced Xenia to sit between.“So,” Delilah began, her eyes twinkling with mischief as she sipped her tea. “Since I didn’t get the chance to properly introduce myself to you both because of the… incident in Ornyville…”“We are so sorry about that, Miss Bakken,” Micah interjected. Xenia turned to look at him and he regarded her with a smile before taking her hand and turning back to Delilah. “It’s just been a while since we had a mate and the bond was stronger than we anticipated.”“I don’t know what the big fuss was,” Mason added. Xenia turned to look at him. Her heart started to race as her hand curled into fists. What is this feeling towards him?“We did replace the bar table and compensated the owner,” Mason continued. “T

Then he thought about the fighting and unnecessary bloodshed and decided he chose the right path. Still, the shade of the moon in the sky gave him an eerie feeling.“There!” Dottie pointed to a ship that appeared on the horizon. As the morning sun filtered through the curtains, casting a soft glow over the room, Xenia slowly opened her eyes to find herself lying in her room. She quickly sat up in bed, looking around. Was she dreaming? She had to be. That was the only explanation. She jumped out of bed and ran to the bathroom to look in the mirror. She was the same as she was before. She pinched herself thinking she was dreaming but she felt pain. What the hell? She absentmindedly touched her face, arms, and hair. Unable to believe where she was. She tried remembering where she was before. Melania. The fight. Nova. She had to get back and…“Xeni?”Xenia’s inner thoughts stopped and she froze. She looked towards the doorway, willing herself to move but her body was shaking with emotions.“Mother?”As if on cue, Delilah appeared in the doorway with a smile on her face. “There you are?
