When he took her to their room, she had avoided his gaze entirely. She threw up her walls again, shielding herself. He stood in front of her as she sat on the bed, playing with the edge of a hoodie she put on to hide her scars again.

"I'm sorry..." she said before he even started, "You weren't the only one that had doubts..." she sniffled again, her eyes anywhere but him. "I thought maybe everyone would have been happier if you had a She-Wolf as your Mate. Someone strong, someone that could relate to your people, someone dependable." Tears dripped onto her lap, her voice starting to tremble. "All I want is for you to be happy."

Maybe it was her imagination, but it felt as if Jayce was being distant with her all of a sudden. After Damion stopped her from spilling the news about her pregnancy, he'd been withdrawn. She knew this too well by now. Something was on his mind and it was going against his better judgement again. Maybe holding off until their wedding day to surprise him may not work after all. Yet when she wanted to tell him, he found some excuse to avoid her. He occupied himself at the pack house to get the reception hall figured out, but that still left her with everything else to worry about."Hey babygirl." Nathan spoke up as he entered the

He watched Damion chat on the phone with his Mate, fury fueling his blood. He made it seem so easy, so casual. Talking to Lily so carefree. He growled, his desk breaking into small splinters beneath his hand. When Damion hung up on her, he was staring Jayce down. Was he challenging him?"What did you do?" Damion asked him, rising from his desk. Jayce rose up with him, his Wolf snarling aggressively. He watched Damion's muscles ripple in response.

The smell of bacon wafted through her senses, stirring her empty stomach and starting up her brain. Her eyes fluttered open, gradually taking in the Christmas themed living room. The fireplace was dead, but the vague scent of smoke still lingered. She sat up, her hips still aching from the night before. Memory of Jayce ravaging her after getting home from work engraved into her mind. She looked around the room, her eyes landing on her Mate sleeping soundly beside her. He must've been far more exhausted than she realized."Lily." Nathan's soft voice came to her from the doorway. She gasped, covering herself with a portion of the

In all his years, his scenery has never changed. Endless darkness ahead of him. Endless darkness behind him. Each way he turned, darkness only greeted him. It was an old friend of his, that and silence. He had access to his vessel's memories, reliving them day in and day out, never any memories he could create his own. Ever since he was put into a soul of a child, what felt like a millennia ago, he only saw death and war. Each soul lost, and he would be brought back. The soul would be stronger than the last, but the soul never lasted long enough. His spirit was the strongest of them all. He was deemed the mightiest of beasts, a King among them. They all worshiped him and feared him.

"Lily!" Jayce called out for his Mate in what sounded like desperation. Penelope was already ahead of him up the stairs and making a dash to their bedroom. When Derek approached behind her, Jayce was leaning over Lily's still body on their bed. Jayce put his hand on her cheek, trying to coax her into waking up. Did the pathetic child overdose maybe? From her previous history with abuse, he would understand why. Now with the pressure of marrying a King and running a species that wasn't her own? What a fool's way out.

  • Fated to the Werewolf King   39: Jayce

Lily had distanced herself from him after the interaction with Derek. She hadn't spoken a single word, but he could feel the fear she felt. The doubt. Everything they were striving against came barging back in unwelcomed. She said she needed space, she needed to think. He gave her that, but to not communicate about how she was feeling? What did the fucker say to her to make her shut down? Nathan couldn't even reach her. Or his Wolf. Jayce knew his Wolf and Lily had grown close while he was in Hawaii. Did he feel a little jealous? Yes, but he wouldn't admit that openly. Their wedding was only days away now. He sent out the calls to the Alphas, except for Derek and Lukas. Penelope hasn't even gone home to him either. After watching Lily drive off with him, she said she felt something was off. Very off. So she

He watched the blonde woman from afar, her citrus scent making him drunk even from such a far distance. He laid low in the brush, his eyes observing her every move. She was hiking through the Appalachian mountains when he caught wind of her. He knew what this meant for him, for his Wolf. He didn't approach her though since she didn't smell like a Wolf, but his curiosity got the better of him. She was traveling alone when he came across her. It was a hot day, the shade of the brush gave him some comfort as the woman pulled out a canteen. As she drank from it, water dripped from her chin. He wanted to lick it off of her."It's ho

The sun casted its light across the ocean's surface, glistening blindingly in the summer heat. Waves licked the soft sand, smothering fresh foot prints that were left behind. Lily walked along the shore, the water lapping at her ankles, its warmth barely mimicking that of the sun's rays on her already lightly tanned skin. Her blonde hair swayed against her lower back, slightly frizzed from the humidity. Sweat and the ocean spray carried by the gentle breeze speckled her skin with tiny droplets. She gazed out at the ocean, the water going on for miles. She ran her fingers over her bikini top, feeling the slivers of her scars that continued to decorate her skin. Her fingers stopped as they reached her lower belly where a new addition of scars now existed. She smiled to herself as she traced the long scar. Sh

Jayce stood in front of his mirror, his white button up still on done, a vibrant emerald tie sitting around his neck untouched. He tilted his head slightly until Lily's bite came into view. It had been roughly a week or so now that she had bit him, and yet it had not healed completely. In her words and that of his Wolf, their bond was just that strong that her Mark held true. Yet his gut was telling him something else was at play, but he didn't know as to what yet.

The moon shined in through the dark curtains, casting shadows across her black comforter. She knew it was late, but her mind just wouldn't shut down. She wished to blame it on wedding jitters, but the way her chest constricted with the usual panicked feeling, she knew it was worse than that. The idea of Karmina hunting her down specifically, the Supernatural world being much larger than she realized. Jayce knew. They all did, and she was kept out of the loop. He can say it was for her safety, but she thought he would know better by now.

He was leading Lily through the pack house blindfolded, the others following close behind them. After breakfast, everyone had gathered to go over what was left on the to-do list. Luna Isis had taken over as the wedding planner, relieving Lily of the burden. Luna Ella offered to be the photographer, bragging a bit about her photography studio in Louisiana. Alpha Javon offered to be the ordained minister for them, and Archibald practically demanded to cover the music. Lily looked uncertain about the Alpha controlling the music for the reception and Jayce couldn't blame her. He was devious with his antics in Hawaii, tempting his King with beautiful women. Never again will he be swayed other than by his Queen. Nathan and Selene were talking at the back of the group, discussing the layout of the venue set up Lily

Jayce advised the Lunas and Alphas to leave them be for the rest of the evening and they would gather in the morning to get the last minute details wrapped up for the wedding. At first the Lunas were hesitant to leave her alone, especially Selene. Maybe the Luna, soon to be Alpha, felt responsible for what her deceased husband did, but Lily could never blame her. There may have been a point in time where Lukas was a decent man, and he truly cared about Selene, but that man surrendered himself to a being unheard of. Karmina. Was she that enticing of a character? Should she be worried about the other Alphas succumbing to her? What about Jayce?

When did Lily become so grown up?His little girl was speaking to a group of She-Wolves after their dinner wrapped up. He watched his love give and receive the respect of a Luna before his very eyes. His heart swelled up with pride as she talked to the women as if they have been life long friends. Since arriving at his home, she had grown so much. Much more than he had, but he wanted to believe he was still a work in progress and that took getting her trust back and forgiving him."There is one other point of discussion we need to cover while we're all here." He announced, his voice silencing the group. Lily looked at him confused, her green eyes sparkling up at him.
